We had wine-tasting in Los Olivas to attend so we timed our return for just-before-closing (4pm). We pulled in at 3:57pm and raced to the front door just as the manager was about to hang a "closed" sign up! On both days we ordered the black sesame matcha. These are $7 and only 8 oz but heavenly. They were out of most all food items on Sunday but on Friday I got a couple of their famed mochi donuts ($4). Imagine a donut (as you can see from the picture, they are round but slender with "knobs") but with a chewy mochi-like texture. Between their unique flavor combos and that amazing texture, these are worth the wait (and I generally never eat donuts because of their complete lack of nutritional value)! But that matcha -- they hand-pestle finish all of their matchas! There's a large window (albeit with a thinly weaved curtain drawn) where you can watch the kitchen in action). The black sesame cream is super thick and layered on the bottom first. The drink comes with a long (7 inch) wooden spoon and you are kindly instructed to draw that spoon out slowly and sample the sweet cream coated in matcha, before ultimately stirring the drink thoroughly. The experience along with the very-lightly-sweetened, softly nutty/sesame concoction are divine... and, yes, the whole reason we raced back on our last day in SB to grab one more taste.

The issue with Del Pueblo Cafe is that although they have variety in their coffee menu, they are usually out of many things. I work nearby and have tried to time my lunch in order to make it in before they close the coffee bar, just to find the drink I want they are out of. I first came in for coffee week and fell in love with their Platano Latte. Myself and my boyfriend would then go in every other week and the barista would only have enough syrup for one or two drinks until it became more consistently no syrup at all. I also follow their page on Instagram and the hours vary greatly depending on the owner?/barista. And while I understand this is a small business, the inability of knowing whether they will be open or have the drink I want has been frustrating. Unfortunately this has lead to us not going back at all. I recommend that they make a permanent drink of the day so that customers know what to expect on any given day, sort of how Shalhoob's does with their daily specials and put it on the menu so that customers who don't use social media know what to expect. With Caje opening near by I do think Del Pueblo has comparable drink variety and quality but the lack of consistency may cause more people default there or somewhere else

There are many options to choose from such as bacon, chorizo, spinach, and no meat. You have many coffee and pastry options to choose from as well. Everyone is super nice and friendly. The coffee shop is super cute and local too.

This review is strictly for customer service or I should say lack thereof. I came to this location…read moreon a trip of NOSTALGIA, hoping to grab a breakfast burrito for myself and a San Andreas shake for my daughter. I was straight up IGNORED by staff (both females). I was standing in line behind a patron that was already ordering at the counter, someone comes in and lines up behind me. Another employee opens up a second register and calls the lady behind me up to the counter. I thought, not a big deal, she probably called her up because she noticed I'd be up next to the first counter. Wrong. The sale at the first counter completed, the customer walks away, and to my surpruse so does the employee. Didn't look at me or acknowledge me, just quickly turned away and pretended to work. Okay, I thought, second register is still open...Second register transaction completed, customer at counter walks away and the employee immediately just turns around! Petty and childish behavior from two adult individuals in a customer-centric job position. Anyway, I didn't get their names, but I am grateful to both because this display of utter ignorance gave me enough time to recall that I actually really dislike this particular location's food and customer service. I was holding onto the memory of a Daily Grind circa 2012. Alas, This isn't the first time I or countless others (see reviews) have recieved subpar customer service and crappy food from the de La Vina joint. My daughter and I went directly to the other Daily Grind and were greeted from the moment we crossed the threshold and the encounter only got better from there.
