The installation carefully removed the remaining glass preventing cascading bits of tempered glass and after inserting the new panel, we could not tell that the door panel and molding was other than new. Hired them in November to replace a broken pane of glass in a French door. Wrong size was initially ordered which delayed things by a week. When the proper glass arrived it was installed and they were paid. The next day the wooden slats that make up the grill for the door detached and fell to the ground due improper installation and low-quality adhesive. It took a couple of weeks but an employee came back out and reattached the slats. It lasted two days. Same sloppy installation (which didn't match the other french door) and the pieces were back on the ground. I've been texting off and on with them for MONTHS now. I first used this company about four year ago to reproached two windows damaged by fire. They were competitive and did the job very well. two years ago I needed a commercial glass replaced and found that they had sold the business to someone new. The new owner came out measured and in about a week they replaced the cracked glass. This February a truck came too close to a tree on the street and knocked off a large branch and sent the branch through a different commercial window. I called the company and they came right out and measured for the new glass. A week later they come with the new glass, I had removed the wood that boarded up the window, they prepped the window and when they went to take it off the truck...it was 13" too short. I had to re board up the window and wait another week. Now I hired them to install new glass at my house. The owner came out and measured from outside and ordered 7 glass units to install between my wood stops. They show up to start to remove the old windows and install the new glass. One large window is short and one window on the truck is 3" too wide. The remove the first window and find that his measurements are not correct. Instead of re measuring all the openings and ordering the correct sizes, they used multi-masters to butcher my openings. Butcher is really not the word, hack and chop is more like it. They were here from 9am till 10pm trying to get glass in to close up my room. Also I had to lend them my tools. They were not finished and had to come back a second time, still short one piece of glass but had the correct size to install this time. They came back a third time to install the one that was short and the final glass in another part of the house. Since they butchered my wood surrounding the glass, I had to hire my carpenter to now make custom stops for the glass. He had to mill the stops to cover the damage they did. Then I ordered glass for a remodel on the commercial building. The first set (9 pieces) came without any problem. The second set (again 9 Pieces) came wrong and had to be reordered which held up the job. I ordered the third set but it was never ordered after waiting two weeks. I went to pickup up the second set at the office location and when I asked about the third set not being ordered I was told, "shit happens". I've since ordered the other three sets elsewhere. read more

My wife and I worked with this company to install two glass enclosures for our shower and toilet area. We wanted a totally frameless shower enclosure so before installation Maysam assured us that we could install a large piece of glass, approximately 55 inches by 83 inches at 3/8 inches thick without any support bar being needed. We trusted his advice and guidance, however after the installation was complete, this large piece of glass was unstable and swayed up to 1/2" in either direction, banging against the adjacent shower door with enough force that the shower basically became unusable due to the danger of the glass shattering. Tempered glass can shatter easily when stressed or if its edge hits against something else. There were also numerous other issues (outlined below) which we made Maysam aware of. After communicating our concerns to Maysam, his response was that we can install a support bar to stabilize the panel which went completely against the look we were going for and was contrary to what he assured us before installation. Feeling disheartened and losing faith in this company's ability to guide us properly, we decided to meet with other shower glass companies (7 in total) to figure out a solution. It was through these meetings that we learned about some of the other issues outlined below. We have since filed a formal complaint with the State Contractor's License Board for various code violations, safety and workmanship issues, glass fabrication mistakes, and overall carelessness and lack of guidance. See more detail below: Issues with the Shower Enclosure: (see corresponding photos) - Maysam sold us on a frameless concept without any support bars being needed. After installation, the large side panel swayed up to one half inch in either direction banging against the shower door. This is very dangerous as tempered glass can shatter and cause serious injury. We learned after our meetings with other glass companies that due to the size of this piece of glass it should have been at minimum 1/2" thick not the 3/8" that Maysam said would be ok. Our own research confirmed this finding. - The side panel was fabricated incorrectly in that it is too long and doesn't align properly with the shower door when it is closed. - Door hinges don't align with hinges on the fixed panel which is another fabrication mistake. For aesthetic reasons it is common in the industry to make sure all hinges align. - Silicone application is inconsistent and sloppy with numerous gaps and air bubbles which has led to water leaks in multiple areas. Maysam decided to let us know after the fact that silicone application was difficult due to the wavy wall tile that we installed. If they were not able to apply the silicone properly, this should have been communicated early and work stopped. Now we must spend many hours scraping off silicone. - Clips are not evenly spaced which is another fabrication mistake. One is 8.25 inches to center, another is 8.75 inches to center, and another is 6 inches to center. For aesthetic reasons, clips should all be spaced out the same. Issues with Toilet Enclosure: (see corresponding photos) -Clips are not evenly spaced which is another fabrication mistake. One is 7.75 inches to center, and another is 5 inches to center. For aesthetic reasons, clips should all be spaced out the same. -The opening to the toilet enclosure is approx. 18 inches. This opening should be 22 inches per code. -The glass panels were installed too close to the floor. There should be a gap of at least 1/8" to 3/16" to allow for floor movement over time and to prevent the floor from stressing the glass panels in the event of an earthquake. If the glass is stressed by floor movement it can shatter causing serious injury. -Clips and gaskets between clips are crooked. -The gap between the two glass panels was left without any silicone which can result in the panes of glass shattering when they bump together. Unfortunately, even after admitting that there were fabrication errors, Contra Costa Plate & Mirror did not accept responsibility and agree to fix all the issues to our satisfaction. As a result, we must move forward with another company to undo what this company did and remove the existing glass and refabricate and install the new glass the correct way. This will result in us having to re-do tile work after we spent over a year remodeling our bathroom and will set us back over 6 months from our original completion date. All the while not a single bit of remorse from this company but instead insistence on getting paid above all else. Please be weary if you are planning on using them for anything more than a simple window replacement so you can avoid the same situation as we are being faced with. RESPONSE TO OWNER: Hinge/clip alignment is not part of the finish work. The support bar was never communicated or approved. 1/2" glass is being installed by the new company.
