RUN! DO NOT WALK! RUN! The first time I tried this place at approximately 5:30pm on Wednesday 3/25/26 I got some of the worst food poisoning of my life! It took about two hours to set in and boy did it set in hard! I literally had to vomit my guts up because the food just did not sit right and may have been bad in one way or another! For reference I got a regular plate with ribs and jalapeño cheese sausage with jalapeño corn and pinto beans on the side. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT EAT HERE!!! Steer clear of this place like the plague if you know what is good for you! I wish I would have read the reviews prior to eating this food! The sad part is that it actually tasted pretty good, but you can't argue with food poisoning! I ordered through Grubhub (as I was at work). And Id like to say it was a satisfying experience! The star of the show was definitely the portion of meat, they don't skimp the servings here. I ordered the brisket and it was tender juicy, and packed with flavor. The BBQ sauce they serve complements the meat perfectly; it had just the right balance of sweetness and tang. Now, onto the sides! I tried their potato salad for the first time and while I must admit I've always been a fan of the chunky variety, this non-chunky version was surprisingly decent. It had a creamy texture that was nice but I still prefer a bit more heft in my potato salad. The cole slaw had a crunchy, fresh and had a nice zesty kick that paired well with the BBQ brisket. Sharon's used to have an environment where you came in, they gave you your meat selection on a plate and you put your sides on the plate and you could feel the pride in the place. You could stir the sides and make sure you weren't getting the crusty/dried corn because the good corn was on the bottom. You could get the sides you wanted. If you wanted a little potato salad with a little corn on top and small helping of green beans, you could get it all on a plate. A paper plate can be purchased at Sam's Club for 7¢ each. Now, they ask you what you want and you get the crusty corn in one paper tray that costs 3¢ each and potato salad in another paper bowl, another 3¢ and they serve it with the meat on a piece of paper (costing 2¢ at Sam's) all on a tray that they wiped down earlier, not washed, just wiped down. They act if they're slopping pigs, not serving people. I know the backstory of how Sharon's started and it's sad to see that it went from being a point of pride for Sharon (vs. her ex husband Joe's place) to where they're treating customers like wild animals they're slopping food for. If they were to buy the paper trays and paper from Sam's (and I know they don't) as if they were slopping pigs, they're spending more than the 7¢ for a plate they would serve people on. I hope Sharon realizes how low her place has fallen to. I think it all started going downhill after they stopped serving the delicious sliced bread they used to make. The only reason I came to Sharon's today was because the Shed was closed. read more

Sharon's has been a staple restaurant where we have always taken clients, work groups and family. We have always recommended them for their great food and hospitality,speed of service and fare pricing. However things have recently changed. We recently took a group there for lunch on Sunday. We were confused by quite a few differences which made for more of an inconvenience as well as making the choice to use them for events less attractive. The following are the most noticeable issues we recognized. * Significantly slower service * Increased Pricing * No longer supplying plates or silverware * No longer allowing self serve for sides (I will explain why this is causing slower service) * Upset customers due to all of the above. (This made for a less pleasant experience) Explanations: * With the removal of self serve sides, the cashier now takes the orders, leaves and scoops sides into small trays (boats), places them on the shelf behind and comes back to ask the next person what sides they want. (For a side refill it is now $2.00). This seems to have tripled the time it takes to place an order at the register. Remember, this is one person doing the work. There are three people behind the line. One is cutting the meats and the other two are standing around waiting for something to happen. This seems like a huge waste of resources. * Instead of plates or bowls, the food is now just slapped down onto a piece of butcher paper on a plastic tray. Plastic forks are now the go to. This is really not a huge issue but seems like a step down in class. * Pricing has always been a little higher than many places but it has become almost out of reach for many who have frequented Sharon's for years. In conclusion; with all of the changes listed above, it seems like Sharon's may be in trouble and is trying to stay afloat. This may or may not be the case but we have determined that we will most likely take our personal and business events somewhere else, mostly to uphold the standard that we want our guests to enjoy. read more

Decent barbecue! Always clean inside with friendly staff! It's set up in the form of a buffet, so if that's not your gig then I'd skip out on it. I will say that if you order take out you'll be charged with a take out fee (not including any kind of delivery service.) The young lady at the register refused to make eye contact with us or speak one single word. When we walked up the man at the cutting table greeted us asked what we wanted. When when the young lady got to register we said hello not a word. She processed our order still not a word did not look up. I asked how much did not look or speak. After a while just put my card in the machine. I had to ask for receipt, not a word. She handed me receipt I said thank you and she continued to ignore me. Another "Me Too" Texas BBQ. The food is fine, the problem is they are cheap. In the wrong ways. I purchased about $70 worth of food to go to take back to the area hotel across the street. I needed plates and cutlery for a few people. All they could offer was 3 foam plates. That was it. Fortunately, the staff at the hotel had some items I could take from their breakfast bar so we weren't totally hosed. This exposes a flaw at the restaurant. Wholesale cases of cutlery, medium grade pre-wrapped averages $24 per case of 500. That's roughly a nickel per person who requests them. Same with paper towels and paper or foam plates, it's literally pennies per person who requested them. I could have used 5 plates, 5 sets of plasticware, and some paper towels. probably 50 cents at most. Something that couldn't have been provided after spending $70 for take out. Yet they could give me an entire loaf of bread for $3 and something cents. Something is way off here. And the hotel staff noted they were known to be stingy with the towels/plates. So yeah.. 3 stars at most. read more

I was invited by friends to eat here today for lunch. The establishment has self-service queuing and seating. The washroom and dining area are clean. The staff are nice people. I ordered the fish which had a good taste and was apparently cooked in fresh oil. I was served five pieces of fish which bear a mass of 15 to 25 grams each for a total of about 1/5 pound-weight cooked. They also give you a good portion of fried potatoes (150 grams plus) and three pieces of cylindrically shaped cornbread in the basket with the fish. They offer a choice of either cocktail sauce or tar tar sauce as a side condiment. There are other condiments available such as ketchup and hot sauce that you can pick up in the queue to the drink dispenser. The meal with drink and tip is approximately $20. read more

IMO this place has damn good BBQ. I always eat before I remember to get a photo. BUT, the sliced brisket sandwich, is a damn good sandwich. Tried the nachos last week, they were really good and was more than I could eat. They have outdoor covered seating which will be awesome when the weather cools in a few weeks. They also have a little bar setup if your looking for a quiet out of the way place to drink and chill. Always friendly staff, place is always clean, just be ready for your clothes to smell like BBQ if you decide to eat in. That's not a complaint, just part of the BBQ experience. My mother, daughter and I were on a weekend road trip. My mom really wanted ribs so we checked Yelp and Sharon's was the one that was opened on a Sunday and near our current location. After walking in, we were promptly greeted and asked if we had been to Sharon's before. The man was very friendly and helpful in explaining the order process and the buffet process. After you order, they place your meat choice on the plate and you are allowed to choose from the buffet and fill your plate with side items as full as you wish, but only once. My mother ordered the rib plate and my daughter and I opted for the chopped beef sandwich. We chose potato salad, coleslaw and I got cherry cobbler. My mom really enjoyed her ribs and had no complaints. I felt my chopped beef sandwich was very dry and I had to put a fair amount of bbq sauce on it. The potato salad tasted sweet which wasn't what I had expected but I can appreciate someone making a potato salad recipe unique. It looked as if they had taken average mashed potatoes and added sweet pickle relish and pimentos. The cherry cobbler was mediocre. The restaurant was clean and large and looked like a good place for parties or large groups. They also had outside seating. Next time we are searching for bbq in Abilene, we will bypass Sharon's. read more

We are visiting Abilene, TX and have eaten at the other location and loved it. We decided to try this newer one. It's very nice. I had the small rib plate and a small tea. My son had a 2 meat plate and a large drink. Our bill was $31.00. So this place is not cheap but there are a few things to consider. You go through the side buffet 1 time and you can add as much as you like. This is worth it if you have hungry teens. The restaurant is very clean. Bathrooms are clean too. They have a very nice patio. Of course it's 105 outside so now is not a good time to be outside. However, during the Spring and Fall it could be really nice to dine on the patio. read more
