We were in the area and had been eyeing up Crooked Eye for a little while now, so we had to stop in. It was a Saturday late afternoon and they weren't very packed- we were able to score seats at the bar, though there were some tables available as well. They not only had a pretty good variety of beers, but they had a good amount too! We needed two flights and two samples to try everything that we wanted. We tasted the Crooked Eye single IPA, Hazy Eye DIPA, White Tail belgian whit, Accidental pale ale, Smash Ale single hop, Golden Eye golden strong ale, Angry Piper scotch ale, I'm No Brut NEIPA, and Maggios IPA. We enjoyed everything, my favorite had to be, in order: the Brut IPA, Hazy Eye, and the Golden Strong Ale. They have wine available too, which we didn't try, as well as some activities on weekdays. It looks like half of their beers get rotated too, so it'll give us a good reason to return in a little while. Service was fast and friendly too! read more

We searched for this place on Yelp. It looked very interesting. We got here at 4:56. There was a guy standing outside. When he saw us get out of the car he quickly walked in, shut, AND LOCKED the door. When we got up to the door we noticed a sign that said they closed early for Mother's Day. I can understand that. What l can't understand is the incredibly poor service and attitude of people who work here and apparently other that of other customers. The guy was standing just inside with a group of customers. He looked out at me and said they were closed. I told him it was a few minutes before five. He just looked at me and said they were closed. He, and the customers standing next to him all started laughing. A few minutes later as I was writing this post those customers came out, saw us setting in our car, and started laughing again. Great beers and a fun atmosphere, Crooked Eye Brewery will probably charm you with it's fun, independent feel (and the beer of course). This place reminds me of NJ breweries, which show up in any cheap industrial spaces or strip-malls. Crooked Eye Brewery is located in a...uh...you know what I have no idea what it's located in. A building of some sort obviously, maybe a garage or small warehouse? Honestly, I drove past the entrance the first time - turn in the small entrance by the tattoo place on Montgomery and drive straight back, probably parking on a sharp incline along the side. None of this is to be taken negatively by the way - it only adds to the overall pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps feel of the place. The beers is plenty, crisp and refreshing with not a bad one in the bunch (thank you for doing flights, which seems to be becoming a rarity at microbreweries for some reason). My favorite of the bunch was the Regimental Scottish Ale 80 - smooth malty flavor with the flavorful ale profile you expect. I adored Crooked Eye Brewery and if I ever find myself near Hatboro again I'll definitely be back. read more

We got a LivingSocial deal to come here and try out their beer flights and a couple of friends. Between the four of us we sampled most of their current beers on tap. As with all food and drinks what we liked was subjective to our own tastes. I am not really a beer drinker so I really didn't have a favorite but again that doesn't mean they were in any way bad. If I hadn't been the driver I would have shelled out the money for their wine flight as well but I will just have to wait until my next visit. Right off the bat, I have to say how parking is an absolute nightmare. Parking is a pain in general in Hatboro, but finding how to even pull up to this establishment was nearly impossible! You have to travel down a treacherous looking (one way?) lane to get here. The parking lot is the size of a postage stamp, but I was lucky enough to find a space. That's my biggest gripe, but it's a really big one, since I was a bit angry when I finally got in the door. As for what really counts - the beer - I was pleased with their offerings. All of their brews were tasty and went down very smooth. One thing I noticed about the beer here is that even the heavier, higher ABV beers have a very light mouth feel. All are extremely drinkable since you don't feel as if you've just ate a whole loaf of bread, which can happen when you drink a lot of beer. Their White Tail Ale is extremely unique in that it has absolutely zero hops in it. I'm not a huge hop head, so I was very interested in it. It's a lower ABV brew, but I think it's a good beer for anyone who is a beer enthusiast to try, since it was the beer that was drank many centuries ago before the advent of hops in beer. In fact, I think this place is doing the good deed of introducing modern audiences to old style beers. They also had the Regimental 80 on tap, which was a beer formerly drank in Scotland, considered a bargain drink at the time. It was a very tasty brew that is reminiscent of a lager, except a bit more flavorful. The owners of this brewery are very friendly and willing to let you know anything about the brews on tap, as well as let you sample anything that catches your fancy. If I have any issues with the brews it is only that there wasn't much on tap the day I went (five taps open) and that it seems most of the beer brewed here is very traditional. I don't have any qualms about traditional beers, they serve a purpose, but I also feel every brewery should have a beer that strikes out against the grain. If you exclusively like beers enriched with fruit, exotic spices and odd combinations, you might not be pleased with the offerings here. If you like more traditional style beers, I would suggest you give some drinks here a shot. read more

The four of us went for trivia night (first and third Wednesdays of the month) and had a blast! The place was full and there was no more seating, so they were thoughtful enough to bring out an extra foldout table without us even saying anything! Absolutely loved that. The brewery is on the side of the building so you have to drive into their parking lot in order to see the entrance. I got the White Tail Belgian wit, and it was absolutely delightful.They don't serve any food, but they have menus on the tables for nearby establishments that will deliver right to the brewery. When our food arrived the delivery guy walked right in and found us, which was especially convenient. It was a warm night so the bar was open air without air conditioning, but they had ceiling fans going for air circulation. One thing I really appreciate is that the volume of the music and the announcer were not too loud. If I wanted to talk to my tablemates I could actually hear them. There were three rounds of trivia and along with a physical challenge that they piloted for the first time. Couldn't have asked for a better experience! Will definitely be back to fill our growlers and to have another fun night. read more

Bought a groupon for a tasting and growler at this place, and as is the case with most groupons, forgot about it until it was about to expire. Luckily that motivated us to finally check this place out. We arrived on a beautiful Saturday, parked on the street, and were greeted by a guy with a beard and a kilt. Tasting glasses were temporarily all in use, so he offered us free 5 oz pours to get started, then appeared (literally... didn't see him coming) at our table to take our official order. All the beer was decent. In the middle of our tasting, someone came out with a tray of one of their brand new brews, which was really excellent (we ended up buying a bottle to take home). Overall this was a fun spot to spend an afternoon. Its a bit far to know when we'll be back, but its definitely worth a trip for anyone in the area! read more

I had seen some of the reviews on groupon about how this place is smaller & what not (they're right) but that doesn't take away from its greatness. Found this recent start-up brewery near my parent's house today. I stopped in with my wife and mother for a sampling, and quite frankly was astounded with how good the beer is. They only have four beers in tap and available for purchase at the moment, but the owner told us that he had some seasonals that are almost done and that he was getting more taps installed in the next two weeks. I sampled all four beers that they have for sale right now and they are very, very good. I'll admit that I'm kind of a beer snob and I've had plenty of small batch beers from small breweries over the years, and I always try to sample the full range of beers from a new brewery when I find it -- and I'm rarely impressed. Not so with this place. Every thing they offer really good! And not just small batch brewery good, this stuff is GOOD. This is a brewery that's going places. Check it out if you're nearby, the beer is awesome and the samplings are free. The owner seems like a really nice guy and was more than happy to explain the beers to us and tell us about the brewery while he was pouring us samples. I wish Crooked Eye Brewery the best of luck in their endeavors. Check them out and talk to the owner, I'm sure that you'll leave feeling the same way that I do. read more

Recently had the chance to check this place out. The atmosphere there is great, it's a really fun place to hang out. Lots of people mingling around and talking to teach other, nice decorations and feel to the place. The weather was finally warm so they had the outside area opened up, which creates a really open and warm atmosphere. Just good vibes from this place all around. Service is also excellent. Everyone there is knowledgeable and friendly. But now the unfortunate part: we had a couple flights of eight different beers, and nearly all of them had a soapy, baking-soda-like aftertaste to them. Something must be off with their water or their lines, because the otherwise tasty beers were really ruined by this. Couldn't enjoy them at all. I hope they figure out the issue and correct the problem because it seems like a really fun, laid back brewery that would be fun to go back to. read more
