We had just finished a bike ride at Pennypack and searched Yelp for breweries nearby when we came across Human Robot. What a fun find! The bartenders were incredibly personable and spent time chatting with us, which really added to the experience. The brewery itself is quite large, with plenty of seating, including an upstairs area. They don't offer flights, but the bartender was happy to provide samples of the beers I was interested in. Unfortunately, none were really my style--I'm a dedicated IPA girl, and they only had one IPA on tap at the time. My husband, however, really enjoyed a couple of the Hallertau Pils tank pours. If you've never had a tank pour before, it's a unique experience and definitely different from a traditional draft beer. They also have an extensive Mexican food menu. We shared the Pollo con Costra y Chile Güero, and it was delicious--very authentic and full of flavor. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely recommend this brewery, especially if you're looking for a unique beer experience, great service, and excellent food. read more

Do you want one of the top rated breweries in the country? Would you prefer a place with a local feel; one with bartenders that know and care about their beer and want you to enjoy what you order? Would you rather pick a place that also has creative (and stong!) cocktails? How about a place with a huge space that allows you to be in the crowd or get away with your group? Good, because Human Robot Jenkintown has all of that. You won't see high varieties of pastry stouts or high abv IPAs here. They specialize in European ales and lagers, but mix and match with hazy IPAs, a sour, and styles, all ranging from solid to top tier. The only real con is lack of parking (people use the Jenkintown parking access the street). Note that there is food onsite, but that's a different company and won't be rated here. That said, we've had good meals here. We highly recommend this place, and if you consider yourself a beer connoisseur, it's a must visit! read more

Came here before the Jenkintown Arts Festival for a beer. This place is huge inside. Lots of room for large parties. Great beer selection. They have an assortment of food including German delicacies on their menu. I was loving the atmosphere here. The Czech Dark Lager was very thick and tasty. Review of the food part, not bar: Came for Father's Day lunch based on a good prior experience. Certainly not the case this time! Place was packed and clearly understaffed. Had reservations, so got sat right away with no warning that service would be slow. It took about 30 minutes to get our food order taken (drinks a non issue as they were ordered directly from bar); after hour 30 asked where our nachos were and due to our inquiries and upset tone those finally arrived (minus the chicken). Two hours into experience, asked again where our food was, the waiter went to check and realized he never put in our order! At that point we just left. The bar did comp one of the drinks but entire experience was a disaster. We get that places get swamped, but maybe at some point check on your tables and see where their food is? Terrible experience! I really really like this spot. My husband and I shared some veggie options (we're omnivores and were in the mood for veggie), including the weggiewurst and the paprikasschnitzel with substituted weggieschnitzel. Both were delicious. I particularly loved the spicy sauce on the schnitzel. Would order both again (why eat meat when these were sooo good?)Also loved the accompanying hand cut shoelace fries (so crispy). For drinks we both had the SA Citra ipa. They were full bodied , fruity and hoppy and they makes us happy (sorry). I want to love this place. The beer is fantastic, the ambience is nice and the food is fine for bar food. But I absolutely cannot get over the service. They are hesitant to hand you a real menu and when you compare the real one to the online one, they don't fully match. Not that it matters because this restaurant doesn't have servers. You have to order off your phone. Want a drink? Walk yourself to the bar and then take it back to your table. Want water? HA. You have to pick that up yourself, too. If the cooler even has water in it - which it didn't. And don't even think that someone is going to come by and make sure your food came out okay, because they aren't. But you're going to forced to tip at least 15%. Not sure to who, but they definitely don't deserve it. I get it. Times are tough and you want to reduce expenses. I suspect this is really two businesses sharing one building. But if I'm paying $16 for a greasy schnitzel and expected to tip you a minimum of 15% on top, you'd better at least ask me if it came out okay and offer a glass of water with ice in it that didn't come from a cooler. I originally rated this 3 stars because the beer was excellent. But I'm even more annoyed thinking about that stupid cooler. If I wanted to serve myself at restaurant prices, I'd just order takeout. read more

Went for the first time on a weeknight. Not busy a busy evening. Ordered the Jaeger schnitzel. Comes out as an open face sandwich. A single piece of chicken, about palm size. Served over a hamburger bun. Smothered in mushroom gravy. Minimally, it should have been at least a big enough piece of chicken to cover both pieces of bun or serve it with two palm size patties. Also note the chicken was dry. Seems almost incongruous. Came with French fries that were pretty decent. Pretzel bites reminded me of something you would buy a bucket of at Aunt Annie's. If that's your jam, great. But didn't care for them. Cheese curds, however, were solid. Saving grace. Period. Beer was awesome. But don't need the bartender to remind me of the alcohol content when I go up for a second beer. Seemed like an odd thing for them to mention. Human Robot is already a Philly favorite brewery who just opened their second location, taking over the former site of Neshaminy Brewing in Jenkintown. They are already off to a great start with excellent beer and customer service experience from their primary location in the city. Unlike most other breweries they are open throughout the week and stay open late. The pub itself is a great atmosphere, with plenty of seating and a lot of open space. There is 2nd floor seating which seems like it would be great to reserve for a small to medium party. If you come here, you have to try the "milk pour" which they are famous for in PA beer circles. After that, I highly recommend the Chai Latte Stout. The aroma makes it enjoyable before it even hits your lips, and the taste is even better. They rent their kitchen out to a separate company, which makes German food. You have to order from them on your phone by scanning their QR code. The food looked good, albeit a little pricey, but I have not tried it yet. Overall Human Robot is a cool pub, and great choice to hit up before or after a movie at the adjacent theater. read more

Now, it's a full on sit-down restaurant (with a bar in the back if u want beer). You still have to go up to the bar to get drinks, except now ur confined to ur table since it's a Mexican restaurant and no longer a brewery. Although the Mexican food was good, I am disappointed with the changes because the entire function of the place has gone away. Don't bother coming if you are just on the hunt for a brewery, because you will be forced to sit at a table and order food. read more

This is a great spot with phenomenal beer. The staff is friendly and helpful. The space is fun and family-friendly. And the beer is absolutely top-notch. One star off is actually for the food. Everything is prepared well, but for some reason there is an aggressive amount of curry with everything. Chicken is well-fried and crispy. The fries are good, but the amount of curry in everything is a bit of a turn off. I personally like curry, but don't necessarily need it in every dish. Most dishes come with curry ketchup, and when we asked for regular ketchup for my 4 year old daughter they didn't have it. We thought she would be fine eating the plain chicken schnitzel, but there was even some kind of curry marinade under the breading. If they could expand their menu to include a few curry-free items and maybe some kid-friendly food we would be in this place all the time. But as it stands now as a dinner option we tend to stay away due to the lack of options for kids and non-curry fans like my wife. read more

Came here with family after seeing the stellar reviews. While the beer here is solid, the best word for the service is random. Our food came out for a party of 4 over the space of 45 minutes, all separately except for the first 2. Our servers were mostly nice and were very apologetic after we had asked them to compensate our order for a bacon egg & cheese that took that whole 45 minutes (by the time it came out everyone was done w their meals). After we made a fuss about it, management came over and DID COMP the BEC & one of our appetizers, which was a nice gesture, but also the right thing to do. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but whoever is cooking in the kitchen's timing is way off. I've worked in food for almost 8 years, and I know that there were not enough people waiting for food that it should take 45 mins for an egg & bacon to cook, even if the bacon is cooked to order. Unfortunately, I can't see myself coming back here, and made a day with family blemished. Come here to get a beer to-go, especially the polotomavy, but don't expect anything above average if you order food. read more
