You gotta love a retro hangout that has one of the finest beer lineups in the Greater Philadelphia are. Nobody has the beer lineup they do, from the uber bold "The Gentleman," an apple brandy barrel aged stout that is a 6 on a 5-point scale, to the imaginative "Neo the One" that tastes like Neapolitan ice cream beer, to a killer scotch ale, vanilla coffee porter to a selection of IPA . Friendly staff that goes out of their way to engage... had a great chat with their owner Jim. Stopped in for a few beers and sat outside at the Tiki Bar in the parking lot. Inside, there are games, tables, and a small bar. We tried the Pomegranate Wheat, the Le Petomane (a saison), the Stock Yard saison and Black Currant Rising Wheat. All were good and easy drinking. Naked Brewing was on my list of breweries to visit soon, but once I saw that they were carrying a jalapeño beer I knew I had to get over to them immediately. We stopped by late on a Saturday? about an hour before they closed and there was still a fair amount of people here. Some were out front playing cornhole, the rest sitting at or around the bar. There's a few small tables available otherwise, right by a big screen TV- we sat at one of the tables. I ordered the Jalapeño Bizness, which tasted pretty great and also very unique. It had a lot of heat to it's flavor, but it was still very palatable. My date ordered the Blind Melon, the wheat beer, which tasted great too. With a lot of other beers to choose from, we'll have to visit again but earlier in the evening, to make sure we get to try more of their beers. Service was fast and friendly. I'm looking forward to returning and trying out more of their brews. I hope they continue making unique flavors such as the jalapeño beer as well. read more

*COVID 19 review* Tucked away in the back of an industrial complex, this brewery did not disappoint. They have picnic tables with umbrellas outside as well as ordering outside. The bartenders then bring your beer to you. The outdoor space is the parking lot, but it's spacious and there's no car traffic. I went with their IPA (forget the name) and it was refreshing with that hoppy bite you look for. The watermelon wheat was also a table favorite. The family that owns this spot are so kind, and the one tender - Hannah - was such a sweetheart to my daughter while we were there (they were name buddies). I will certainly be back! read more

This is a great local brewery with a welcoming staff. Whether it's a year round beer such as Hop Spyder or Naked Pale Ale, or a seasonal like Ginger's Punkin Spiced Wheat, the beer is exceptional. Mexual Chocolate is an excellent beer that reminds me of a mole sauce. I enjoyed Aigre Canon, and I do not usually like sour beers. I could go on about more of their beers, but you should try some for yourself. read more

What can I say....this place is a hidden gem. My friend and I were in town for work and on a early day we decided on food and beer. I like to find little know brewery's and taste what they got. After a search on Untappd we found this place and decided to due to is proximity to our place. Caught a ride to the address and we were a little confused because we didn't see any signs. All hope seemed to be lost before we saw a little sign that was off on the corner and we knew we were in the location, but where was the question. We knew it was on the footprint of this large building. So my buddy and i decided to push forward and complete our mission of finding this place. We didn't find it in front so we hooked around the back and it looked a little dodgy, but when all hope seemed lost the clouds parted and shine on the front door which is at the back. We enter and I swear I heard Angels playing on harps. It was utter magical inside. The decor was fitting, but the beer was amazing. I got a large flight and was just blown away. There were some flavored that I would turn up my nose just die to the name, but hey...lets try and am I glad I did. Every one of my beers was good. The bartender/co-owner was extremely friendly and helpful. And kudos to him and his work. Naked! How doth I love thee! Even though this little brewery is hidden in an business complex, please please come in and give it a try! Let's review why it's my favorite brewery in the area despite its weird location. Decor- it's a little small, but there is a decent amount of seating. Plus, they have outside seating. They have an industrial feel though. Cool bottle lighting and very "undecorated". Staff- you will always see the same people working. They are friendly and they are willing to let you taste anything. If you come in more then once, they will totally remember you. They can talk about the beer and explain the process to and what makes this saison different from that saison and etc. Prices/ beer - are right in point. They offer a 4 beer flight and a longer one. They have bottles and growlers ( they even have a cute small grower!). And the beer is awesome! They always have new beers! And the sour selection is to die for. Oh yea baby, Naked makes some mighty fine beer!!! But for the Yelp reviews, however, we would not have discovered this hidden treasure. Thanks again Yelpers!! We picked up two growlers: Black Currant and Pale Ale. The Black Currant was imbibed in less than 24 hours, and it was phenomenal. Neither of us discerned the flavor of black currants, what we did taste was a well-balanced beer lacking any harsh edges. It is a relatively low alcohol beer that is perfect on a warm summer's day. Mr. M--who has been more disappointed than not by micro-brews--is smitten. Looking forward to updating this review after we crack open the Pale Ale. read more

I work in the area and felt like walking over to check out this new joint. Awesome selection of beers! So happy to find a brewery in the philly suburbs. I got four 4oz flights for only $6. Can't beat that! The Gentleman's stout was super yummy , and the Parting Glass, which is a porter infused with Jameson, was also impressive. I then tried a wheat beer with pomegranate which is perfect for this warm weather! Refreshing! I hear they are expanding the seating area a bit which is great. There's a small corner for a two piece band to perform. The decor is cozy with a chic industrial vibe. They also have quizzo on Thursdays. I think as time passes, this place will become more and more popular. The quality of this craft beer is truly great. It's a hidden gem that I'm glad I found. read more

After visiting a few breweries, you begin to see quite a difference between each operation. Breweries such as Yards have built themselves up over the years to a state-of-the-art brewery with an amazing system in place to brew. In Huntingdon Valley at The Naked Brewing Company, just as it's name implies, the beer brewing experience is much more "hands on." Almost everything in the brewery was designed and built in house, from the set up of the fermenters to the layout of their tasting room. There's TON of both homemade and customized equipment here, complete with rising steam and malt dust! Although they're newer on the micro-brewing scene, Naked proves that an outstanding product can be made with simple tools in a modest setting, the way it's been done for a very long time. Normally when I'm recapping a brewing that is being featured on The Corner Pubcast for the week, I'll comb through information and try to assemble a narrative about the company's history and where they are now. In this case though? There's nobody that can put it better than Brian Sucevic, co-founder of this weeks featured Brewery, The Naked Brewing Company of Huntingdon Valley PA: ""Ah, where to begin. My first beer is a good place. Sneaking beer to go out camping in the woods of Kentucky was commonplace back then in the early 80's. I used to think of Old Milwaukee as "beer", and technically, I guess it is. It was (and still is) made with malted barley and hops and had alcohol. It did the job fine back then. As I matured, my love for good beer grew. Many college parties, and many beers later, I had grown to enjoy a wide variety of beers. I learned that opting for a 6-pack of good beer was a better plan than crushing a case of ordinary beer. The flavor was everything. Can I tilt a mass produced lager while watching a game? You bet. But, my preference is to enjoy my beer for the flavor, not drink it down in mass for the effects. In talking with one of my fellow "naked brewers," Jim [Crossland], we started talking about brewing beer. We both had enough supplies that we could cobble together a decent set-up with which to brew. We brewed the cherry chocolate stout, our first beer, and fermented it in a glass carboy in my basement. We force carbonated it some weeks later and tried it out. The body and flavor exceeded our expectations. In short ... it was a damn good beer. We tried other recipes and had similar results. Pomegranate Wheat - 4.6% ABV A sweet, golden hued American wheat beer brewed with caramel malts and honey, and infused with pomegranate, providing a bold fruit aroma and a crisp finish. Sour Pomegranate Wheat - 6.2% ABV The story behind SPW is an interesting one. The Naked Brewers accidentally made a high-octane batch of pomegranate wheat, so rather than tossing it down the drain, they tossed it in their sour barrels and added some raspberry. The results are surprising--the beer certainly stands apart from its aforementioned younger sibling. Pink Bunny - 4.92% ABV A beer that was originally brewed as a house beer for The Sawtown Tavern in Tacony, this is a big, juicy grapefruit IPA with lots of big citrus hops. We stumbled upon Naked nearly three years ago when one of our out-of-town friends was in for a visit. We were looking for a local place to try some new beer and Naked popped up in the Google Maps search results. We were very impressed with not only the beer, but the staff and the atmosphere. It can get a little loud inside when it gets really crowded, but they have a nice outdoor area where patrons can sit and mill around. Additionally, they bring in food trucks fairly regularly, and we haven't been disappointed once with the selection. We have been back several times since and recommend it to friends and acquaintances often. read more

Listen, Naked Brewing is not for everyone. I can see some people being horrified by the more adventurous beers here. Even though this place doesn't try to appease the faint of heart, it's definitely for those with an adventurous palate. They're known for their sours, which they fully admit most are simply the result of errors during brewing. I personally love sours so I like seeing what traditional brews they put a spin on. One of their flagship beers is Pomegranate Wheat, which is a decent fruit beer; but when they open up a batch of the Sour Pomegranate Wheat, that stuff is heavenly. Overwhelmingly tart with that little sweet edge, it's an extremely drinkable beer for being a sour. On the flip side there is the Sour Parting Glass, which is their take on a sour porter. Never before have I had beer that tastes like a pickle from the deli! It's super sour and caught me off guard when I first had it, but as the glass goes on you become more accustomed to it and it becomes somewhat addictive. I thought about that beer a lot in the week after I had it, probably because it was so unique. Last but not least I had their Aigre Canon, which is a sour saison. Wow, that beer was too much for me. It was a blast of flavors all at once - sour, spicy, even salty - that left my head spinning. All in all though, I hand it to them for releasing these beers. They are unique without being 'cutesie' and also make their tap room a haven for people like me who love sours. Don't fear; they make great traditional brews too. Their non-sour Parting Glass is one of my favorites, a smoky and smooth porter that goes down easily. The Pale Ale has a hoppy bite to it, but isn't over-the-top in the bitterness factor. Definitely check out The Gentleman if you like stouts, since this one is aged in apple brandy barrels, and you can definitely pick those flavors up in the brew. The staff here is very approachable and friendly, and if one of the owners happens to be there, there's a good chance you can get an impromptu tour around their small but adequate facilities. Despite being a small tap room, they definitely are open to guests, and have a bunch of events throughout the year, including quick paced quizzo nights on Thursdays. If you're feeling adventurous and want to try some off-the-wall sours and maybe some more typical brews, definitely give them a shot. read more

Had a flight of beers and loved the Ground Effects and Strong,Dark & Belgium. The Portobello sliders and tater tots from the food truck were great too. Once you actually find Naked Brewing Company, you won't want to leave! Although the brewery is in its infancy and the tasting room reflects this, the beer is delicious and the men behind the beer are super cool. Their passion for the brew is absolutely contagious. Big shout out to Brian, who was lots of fun and very informative. Naked had about seven beers on tap when I went for a tasting. My personal favorite was the Aloha, a sour stout infused with pineapple. The beer they seem to be most well known for is their Gentleman, a delicious stout aged in apple brandy infused oak. Cool little nano-brewery hidden behind the back of another business and warehouse. You have to really drive around the building to find it. It is hard to find--but if you are determined, you'll find it. Met one of the owners and the head brewer. Very talkative and it is apparent they truly enjoy craft beer. They have a 110 gallon brew system, guess that is 3 1/2 barrels. They are like homebrewers, only 22x bigger. The beers were pretty good, except an APA that had a diacetyl problem that the owner was aware of. They had a hot pepper/chocolate stout which was really, really good--and I was sad that they didn't sell in in bottles yet. They have a RIS at 10% which is really good. They had a few fruit/wheat beers--I won't comment because I don't like fruit beers, so my bias would show. Think we had 7 samples, 4 oz each for free. But we bought t-shirts and a few bomber bottles to take home. So I suppose they made some $$ of of us. Nice place to visit, especially if your new to craft beer and you'd like to see how real beer is made. read more

I didn't meet a beer here I didn't like. Had a flight from Eric behind counter, his choices, all very very good. Their jalepeno is now my favorite jalepeno beer, it didn't go out the top of my head. Met Jim, one of the owners, was the most any owner talked to the clientele. Got some education on their history and how they brew, was very very good experience. Jim made us feel like regulars, family, however you want to spin it, two thumbs up here where other owners appear to give you Texas tall boys. First off, this place is a P.IA. to find BUT so glad I did. A great variety of beers: Stouts, pilsners, lagers, pale ales, fruit inspired. They even had one with jalapeños called Jalapeño Business that wasn't what you'd expect but better: Light, crisp and refreshing with just enough of a hint of the pepper to give it that flavour. I think their spirits are from Board Room, so you can't go wrong with that.They also have food trucks several nights a week and events, like Kinky Quizzo (it was a scream!). The crowd is, thankfully, on the more mature side, and the staff are very friendly. There's plenty of room outside and there were families, cats and dogs and games. It was very hard to find. There are no signs out by the street, and it's in the back of the building. You wouldn't know it was there without Google Maps. The bar is right next to the entrance (awkward) with a small area around the corner to play darts and Jenga, and for a live band to play sometimes. The restroom(s) are also here. They don't offer small (4-8oz) sizes unless you get 4 or 9 of them as flights, which is disappointing. They could make more money with these, for people who don't want to coming to pints. The pricing was good, though. A lot of the beers lack "beer flavor," like they're watered down, like Bud Light or something. I was with a few people who don't really like beer, and they loved it. I think this is due to it not having a very powerful flavor. It did taste watered down, like a light beer, and I just thought the beer was okay (I've tried over 100 different beers, so maybe I'm just being annoying?). The Missionary Impossible IPA was the most beer tasting beer I tried. The rest were kind of watery like a light beer except for Jalapeño Bizness, which taste mostly like jalapeños, except without the spiciness. read more

This was a great find in the burbs! There is a cute tiki bar and fire pit outside. The inside is reminiscent of a basement but there's a cozy corner and an area where you can sit and check out the brewery. They have various games up for grabs too. You have two flight options, we tried all nine ($16) of their beers on tap - they have a decent assortment of different styles. My favorite was the Scream, a rice crispy treat in a glass.
