I called this company initially in July because my a/c went out and a technician came out along with salesperson. Right away they tried to pull a bait and switch when they said I was to pay a fee for their visit after the rep told me over the phone there was no fee when I initially made the appointment. They listened to the call and when they heard what the rep said they honored that. However, the salesperson immediately tried to sell me a plan in which I would receive a new HVAC unit and "free maintenance" for 10 years at about $200 per month. I declined and when I did the tech said he can replace a part, add something to hopefully plug the leak then add freon but there is no guarantee that will correct the problem and I should think about the contract. I asked him to do the work and spent about $1200. A week later I had a leak from the air handler on the inside and call them back out again and they found a clog and changed drain pipe for $300. In September the A/C went out again. I called them back hoping they would honor the fact they had already been out 2x in 60 days. Charged me $99 and the same salesperson came out with the tech and they said there was still a leak and in order to find the leak there would be a fee and they could not guarantee they would find it and once again encouraged me to replace the system and sell me the $200 per month contract and I said no again. I let them both know I did not appreciate the fact I have spent $1500 with them and they have not addressed the problem. I asked for a quote for a new system with no contract and although the salesperson said he would put $1500 toward a new system he quoted me $13500. I'm in a condo that is a little less than 700 sq feet. I find it hard to believe it is should be priced that high. I have since had other companies come out and they did a lot more than what Aplus did to assess the situation. Bottom line they are only interested in selling pricey products and contracts. I am seriously considering filing a formal complaint with the BBB because this was unacceptable. read more

I received a reminder from A-PLUS's customer service to schedule the free routine preventative maintenance (PM). Scheduling can easily be done online or by phone. I have been a customer for many years to service my HVAC system and I've never been disappointed. Joniqua "J" was the technician that performed the PM on January 12. She checked to see if the filter needed changing; checked the humidifier on the HVAC to ensure water was going to it and the filter was clean; explained that the water heater should be flushed once a year to prevent sediment buildup. The technicians are professional, experienced, pleasant and cordial. I appreciate how they ensure to explain the services they are providing, why and how often it should occur to keep it operational. read more

I had a great experience with A Plus Service. Experts. Their contractor, Omar Brooks, came in quickly and effortlessly to solved the problem of my leaking HVAC unit. He discovered that it was a cracked pipe, and was a simple repair. A previous contractor had created an estimate that would have cost me $1800. Omar got it down to $142. A lot of contractors don't operate with integrity and they are trying to make you spend as much as possible, I respect a contractor that doesn't try to fleece the customer and is straightforward. I had two new Lennox air conditioners and Lennox furnaces installed two years ago. I was looking for a company to provide annual check-ups for each and signed up for an A-Plus membership. They have had their annual checkups with no problems found. Considering they are essentially new, I expected that. The technicians were very professional; explained what they intended to do; and I have no complaints about the work. Today I called about sump pump products. My current Zoller pump is about 15 years old and my Watchdog battery back system is closer to 20 years old. They both work. I had a minor problem with the Zoller unit last year and decided it was time to get a unit before it failed altogether. I asked the customer service representative (CSR) if someone could tell me the sump pump brands A-Plus offered. I was told someone needed to come to my house (at no charge) to give me that information. I explained that I did not need anyone to come to my house to tell me the brands used. Somehow in the middle of our conversation, the connection was lost. Since the CSR had confirmed all of my contact information, I waited about 5 minutes for a return call that never came. I called back and spoke to a different CSR and was told the same thing. I asked to speak to a supervisor; was paced on hold; and the connection was lost. I did not receive a return phone call, so the message is clear to me. I do not understand why someone must come to my house to give me the information I requested for two reasons. First, I know what I need for my house and I'm more concerned about the quality of the product they would use - than getting a quote. Second, I'm 73 years old; because of COVID-19, I only allow essential non-family members in my house and, in this instance, that doesn't include an A-Plus technician/sales person. I realize that I am working with the wrong company, and will not renew my membership. read more

I paid them to come out and fix my heat. The guy installed the wrong battery in my furnace after my instructing him not too do anything until I got a price and he cut the wires in my Furnace. He told me that I would need a brand new system and it would cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. I had another guy come out the same day (Today 12/24/20) and he fixed my system in 30 minutes and confirmed that wires had been cut that may effect my furnace (Photo Below). My pipes leaked, they told me its due to corrosion and its not covered. My heat pump broke they told me its not covered because it broke down due to not been maintained. I discovered that water was puddling under my indoor a/c unit. I setup an appt online without any problems. The next morning, my service technician Reggie came early for my 10 am appointment and was great at identifying the problem and fixing it. My air conditioning was blowing air, just not cold air and the temp would not fall below 76 degrees no matter how low I set the temp. A-Plus Service sent Melvin out, he did a thorough investigation and identified the problem with accuracy, which was a bad coil. I have been a customer for years, and have had positive experiences with them, until I needed after hours service last night. I called at 8:30 pm, was told the on-call tech would call when on the way, and then never heard from the tech or dispatch again. I called back at 5 am, only to be told no one knows why the tech didn't respond, and they have no protocols in place to follow up with customers who are waiting overnight. It's a total failure not to have a system that requires periodic follow up with a customer who is told to wait for an indefinite period of time by either the tech or dispatch. Service for regular appointments is great; service for after hours, non-existent. read more

A-Plus was assigned to our home warranty claim. I hate our home warranty company so much, but we really lucked out this time. They were helpful in scheduling a time that fit into my work day and called when they were about 30 minutes out. The two techs who came out were very friendly, professional, and thorough. They had to return for a second visit after we got a handyman to provide access to the subflooring to get at our leak. Again, very easy to schedule and very responsive. I even got phone calls from the tech himself the day before asking for more detail on what we had discovered after the handyman cut through the subflooring. I appreciated that, unlike a lot of service people, they were really diligent about actually identifying the problem. I'd happily use these two techs again with any plumbing problem. If I could give A-Plus Air Conditioning and Heating zero stars, I probably would. My fan stopped working on my condensing unit so I called A-Plus. They sent out a technician. He worked for about a half hour and got it back up and running. Then I was charged $315 which was $95 for the labor and $220 for a capacitor. $220 didn't seem even remotely reasonable so I looked it up online. It is actually a $25 part. I immediately called the A-Plus office, laid out the situation, and asked the manager one simple question. Is it your standard procedure to mark up your parts 1000%? His answer was less than satisfying. He basically said that you can get a lot of stuff online cheaper. I told him that I expect to pay a premium but that I thought a 1000% profit was ridiculous. He said that was what they charge and then tried to tell me that the service is included in that price. I had a couple of issues with this. First of all, if that's the case a $25 part plus a half hour of labor still doesn't add up up to $220. In addition, I was also charged $95 dollars for labor. So apparently not only was I over charged for the part, but I was paying the labor fees twice. I think most folks are looking for someone honest and reputable when dealing with this kind of problem. Most folks are willing to pay a premium for the service when your AC goes out at the height of summer, but don't want to worry about getting ripped off. If that's the case, then I'd strongly recommend you stay away from A Plus. read more
