A family tradition! First of all, I just want to say that I really do enjoy supporting small businesses. Crosby's is no exception. I have so many memories of coming her to pick up treats, whether it be for birthdays, my First Communion, Mother's Day, etc... it was always so special. We just always knew going in we wouldn't be disappointed. The pies are incredible! I'm also a huge fan of their turnovers. It used to be a tradition to pick my Grammy up an angel food cake, and let me tell you, it never lasted long! The employees are so kind and helpful. The prices are EXTREMELY reasonable. I approached the bakers at Crosby Bakery with a very specific design in mind for cupcakes to celebrate my 40th birthday. My cute, little grandma lives in Nashua... and every time I visit her I won't miss the opportunity to stop by and check out this sweet, flavorful and cozy pastry shop. They have the most delightful treats! To me this place looks as old as my grandma... that's cute in my opinion hehehe. Even though I really, really love this place but not as much as I love my granny:)). Joke on the site this place is sweets lovers' weakest link. Everything looks fresh and tempting, it is definitely a place for an occasional treat and not an every day stop! What? Aren't you agree with me? All around not impressed. A lot of reviews for this place seem to involve a lot of nostalgia, but I promise a completely objective review free of childhood memories! So, first issue with this place is they are cash only. Hello, it's 2014! Second issue, I paid over $40 for a cake for a birthday, so I was expecting something above average. I was wholly unimpressed - the cake was circular with a small ring of icing on the top. There was nothing visually impressive that would indicate the amount of money I spent - I swear I could've made something in my kitchen with no baking experience. This is compounded by the main issue -- WRONG FLAVOR! When we were cutting the cake, saw it was vanilla... chocolate was ordered (the birthday kid's fav - who of course detests chocolate). To top it all off, the cake was dense and sat in my stomach like a brick and the frosting was excessively oily. Not to be crude, but let's just say a short while later there was an unplesant bathroom trip. This place: 1. Is inconvenient (cash only) 2. Is incompetent (can't translate orders from paper to product) 3. Is overpriced (charges artisan bakery prices at least for cakes, but quality isn't there) 4. Has no parking except a couple on street spots -- hopefully you can parallel park! 5. Has gross cake. I will NEVER go back for anything for any reason. I say with complete honesty, I would buy a crappy grocery store cake before ever setting foot in this place again. read more

I am almost to stunned for words. I was looking at photos of Nashua on Flikr, and thought, "Hey, I wonder if that bakery Gram used to bring me to is still around?" Sure enough, Crosby's is still there. We used to get THE best Vienna bread, lemon doughnuts and ginger bread men every Saturday. I'm bumping my original 2 stars up to a 4. I stand by my earlier rating of the pastry which is just ok, but the second time I went in I noticed they have creton (gorton, pork scrapple or whatever else you may call it) in little tubs in the fridge section. Growing up in Medford, MA, there was this fantastic doughnut shop called Pauline's Doughnuts. I can still remember my mother and I going there to pick up a fresh baked doughnut. I always got the chocolate frosted, and the doughnuts were just a little warm causing the frosting to melt ever so slightly. The taste of Pauline's are something I've never been able to replicate. Until today. I had heard that Crosby's had good doughnuts, but I had yet to be in. Most days I drive by there the parking spots are all taken in that area and I don't have much time to drive around. Today there was an empty spot and I decided to take a chance and try them. I could talk about the inside of the shop, but who cares? That's not what you're reading for. What you want to know is whether they're worth driving around the block and blowing a diet for. And let me tell you they absolutely are. While it didn't smell like a doughnut shop inside, I got the chocolate frosted doughnut home and instantly I felt like I was sitting at the counter of Pauline's Doughnuts swinging my legs back and forth because my feet didn't touch the ground. Go there and try a doughnut. I have no idea what everything else tastes like, and honestly I've probably cemented the fact that I'll never get anything else from there. But they are so melt in your mouth delicious that you're missing out if you don't try them. read more

They have a fair selection of treats my favorite being their jelly filled cookies which are soft and delicious! They also have really yummy fluffy filled donuts and although I'm usually not a fan of chocolate glazed donuts I make an exception here! Cash only. I have always loved this place. Growing up in Nashua I got my first Birthday Cake from here, and everyone one after that as well as first communion, Graduation, Mothers Day, ect. I have tried cakes from other places and I've always thought that Crosby's is much better. Always fresh, frosting is exactly what I remember as a kid not too sweet but has lots of flavor. I love their signature writing on the cakes too. Just a classic Birthday cake with flowers is perfect. This place is everything you'd expect and more. Friendly counter people offering quality hand made products. A+ in my book. read more

Just the best. Reminds me of best Brooklyn bakeries of the 50's. Old fashioned in the best way. Croissants are as good or better than Champ-Elysees. No focus on yuppie - sustainable, sugarless, artisan fluff. Do you like chicken pies? If so, Crosbys makes fresh ones once a month on Thusdays (today is the day!). These pies are to die for. Nice flakey crust, veggies and a delicious gravy make these pies the best I've ever had. However, you must call ahead and reserve because they are so popular. They make small or large, you can request cooked or uncooked. I'm picking up 4 at 11:30 today. Yummy yummy! read more

I have heard about the famous Crosby's bakery for years since I moved to Nashua. Finally got the chance to check it out. I went in at about 5:45p. They selection of items was pretty large for being the end of the day. The prices were very good however cash or check only. In this day and age a huge inconvenience. Unfortunately everything looked kind of sad. The cakes and cupcakes looked very novice. The regular cookies looked horrible thin with burned edges. The decorated cookies looked cute. Nothing really looked good enough to order but decided on the German chocolate brownie and chocolate whoopee pie and a pumpkin. The brownie was almost not edible. The Pumpkin whoopee pie while very moist with great cream was pretty blah and tasted mostly of canned pumpkin. The Chocolate whoopee pie was actually phenomenal. sadly though this was not enough of a selling point to fight traffic and attempt to find a parking spot to try this bakery again. read more

I love this place! I think that they have the best Whoopie Pies around. I also love their angel food cake. I haven't tried much else. A decade ago I worked in downtown Nashua and used to go there for a hearty (not sugary) lunch. From time to time I go back for lunch or whatever. Crosby's Bakery quality has not changed. I have bragged about this place to my sister, who just moved to the area. She made the trip to downtown Nashua and agrees with me -- about the whoopie pies. For your information, the parking for this place is a little tricky because parking meters are involved. Bring change. Yum! read more

My exsperiance here was not good at all. In fact it was a little upseeting. the owner Gale was extreamly rude and unwelcoming. she gave me 5 dollars short change and then claimed that i gave her $5 when in fact i gave her $10. she denied that i gave her $10 and then she she would not give it back to me. eventually i got it but again she took 2 more cents that were mine. Over all i will never go back here and tell all my friends about this dredfull experience! read more

They do a really good raspberry filling but these are not butter pastries. The cakes are bland, grocery store quality. They admitted to me they use Crisco. Their oat flour bread was sweet, almost dessert like and behaved very oddly in the toaster. It got dark brown but never crisp. For the price I would expect much better quality. read more

Love the donuts not too impressed with anything else. The Eclair I got was overcooked on the outside and tasted sour and old on the inside. My mem was a really good baker but with age she started to burn things or her cakes wouldn't be as moist/tasty, that is where this place is at. read more
