Couldn't choose no stars or I would have…read more I was having brake issues, so I posted on a neighborhood page in FB to see if anyone could recommend a local garage that was reasonable (the dealer wanted $1000). I got several recommendations, but I also got a message from a guy who seemed sympathetic and said that $1000 was way too much. He told me he had a garage and could do the work right away. That should have been a sign. I talked to him on the phone, and we talked details of the job. Bottom line was that it would be between $200 and $300 if I didn't need rotors. I wasn't feeling any vibration, it was just rubbing, so I figured I wouldn't need rotors. He was reasonable on the prices he quoted for pads, so I figured he'd be reasonable if I needed rotors too. When his mechanic looked at the brakes, he said I only needed 2 rotors. Good news. I figured it would be another $150 for the rotors. When the job was finished, I was presented with a bill for almost $700. The owner wasn't there, so I had to pay to leave. I contacted him to let him know that I wasn't happy. He said that I must have misunderstood the prices he quoted. I pointed out that if he had replaced all the rotors (like the dealer was going to do) and used OEM parts (like the dealer was going to do) his bill would have been over $1000, which he had originally agreed was way too much. Meanwhile, I had to have new tires installed and the tire company had to replace all of the lug nuts on my car (at a cost of $200) because the mechanic who did the brakes had not put the lug nuts back on properly. You need to use a torque wrench, which the owner said was used. (I was sitting outside the garage while the work was being done and the mechanic was using a regular impact gun.) He also said that the lug nut problem was caused by the tire company not knowing how to remove them properly. After a couple of conversations with the owner, it was obvious he wasn't going to accept any responsibility for any of the issues he and his mechanic caused. He offered me a free oil change. No way will I trust this garage to do any work on my car!

It needed some work though to bring it to the next level with regards to maintenance. I stopped in and met Mike and his wife. They gave me a tour of the facility where I saw other high end classics that they were working on. I developed a real comfort level with Mike and decided to give him the job to help me finish the car. What a great decision! From the onset, Mike was nothing but honest and reputable. He told me from the beginning that if I wanted this car in a month, he was not the right man for the job. I told him to take all the time he needed, just do it right. I bought a used Toyota Tacoma from Adam and 3 weeks later the engine light came on. I took it…read morestraight to a Toyota Dealer in Kingston and they informed me the gas tank was completely rotted out, it had been leaking gas for awhile, and was unsafe to drive. When I called Adam about it he didn't want to discuss repairing it until I received a 2nd opinion. I did and they confirmed what Toyota had said - it was a rotted out gas tank, old issue, and unsafe to drive. (Both put it in writing). Also My girlfriend and I noticed gas leaking from the tank the first day we bought the truck - I figured I had just over-filled it (I'm not a car guy). After that it was hard to get a hold of Adam and when I did he outright refused to cover the repairs saying it was past it's warranty etc. - but I informed him he was violating the "Safe Car" law which requires dealerships to not only inspect their cars but ensure they are safe for their consumers to drive. He still refused and I am now in the process of taking him to Small Claims to recoup the $1900+ it cost to repair/replace the gas tank. I would strongly recommend against purchasing a car from here - unless you have it fully inspected before hand.
