Hello Friends, that was how we were welcomed and addressed the whole time we were there. Cross Keys (Good Eats) is a very small, very local, very homey diner on Swamp Rd. With a full bar of spinners and dining area the waitstaff works together and before long your food is before you. Our plates looked appealing enough and the portions were generous. My eggs and bacon were basic with no surprises and his pancakes looked fluffy and light. While his eggs were perfectly cooked to order, the sausage was undercooked and still pink inside. The full dining room kept the staff busy and unable to check back in time for the issue to be remedied but we did end up swapping it out for bacon after our meal was finished. There is always room for bacon The place is dated and could use some sprucing up, pricing is slightly on the high end for basic breakfast and no specials that include coffee/tea - that coupled with the undercooked meat. Cross Keys earns three and a half stars with room for improvement. read more

There were some awesome specials that our somewhat harried server belatedly told us were sold out- after we'd ordered them, and she headed back to the kitchen to place our order. My only criticism would be I was trying to pick the least salty thing on the menu and I could definitely tell the fish was very salty. If I weren't trying to watch my blood pressure I'd get that all day long. There is a little bakery in the back lot too. I wouldn't travel for it but if I was passing it I'd stop again. Well I'm glad I decided to give it another go- I've now been coming semi regularly over the past year or two and have enjoyed it immensely. I particularly love that I can get a combo with eggs meat and French toast - the combo platter. The baked goods are also heavenly - had pumpkin bread pudding and a raspberry muffin both to die for. Their coffee is good too. They're definitely always busy which is great for them but the wait can sometimes be a little long. Sometimes the tables are a tight squeeze and they run out of specials - but this is all just a testament to how good they are. Last time we put our name and were told it was be a 20 minute wait, we came back maybe 12 minutes later and they had given our table away so we had to wait longer - but then they offered to text another group after us. That's been the only real problem I've had but overall exceptional. Oh and I like the potatoes the old way - but that's just me. However you can ask for them with onions which I never knew until I asked. They make the best eggs - hands down. read more

I wrote this review on their site and they said good... Don't come back. I won't go back. However I read some of the other reviews. My wife, friends, and I wanted to get some late breakfast after our conference and based on your Yelp reviews, Cross Keys Diner was our choice. We made a very good one. There's nothing really fancy about what I think is a converted house into a diner; just the boisterous crowd (ourselves included), great coffee and better food. We all didn't eat breakfast, so we were famished when he got in a bit after 11am. I checked in and they have signage that you will not be seated until everyone in your party is present. Once this was the case, we only waited maybe five minutes before being seated at the no frills table and chairs. The menu is a typical diner menu with a little bit of everything. We all wanted breakfast. My one friend had the French toast, my other had a French Toast "sandwich" which had eggs and home fries, and my wife and I had omelettes. Mine had hot sausage, peppers, fresh greens, and mozzarella to go with the three eggs. The home fries were nice and crispy. All of the comfort food put us into comfort comas. The coffee was nice and hot, and we wolfed the food down quickly. Service was friendly and fast. Parking is free off to the side in their own lot. Seems like a lot of regulars come here. Prices were reasonable. $80 including a hefty tip for four meals and three coffees. read more

Service a bit disappointing (had to find server to get her attention on an item added to my bill - when we ordered, told my companion she could substitute cole slaw for potatatoes, but it ended up being a $4.50 up charge after a 50 cent "credit" for "no potatoes" - much less than the side order price if ordered a-la-cart). My last visit to Crosskeys.... Sure, they can be creative but inconsistent. They are busy, often rude. If you complain about a poorly made dish, you are dismissed with a shrug. Today's experience is unacceptable. We left an electronic cell phone accessory on the table. Returning a few minutes later staff said can't find it. Then a dishwasher discovered the device and its 4 inch by 3 inch box was now in the dishwasher. Returned soaked and broken, the response was it's not our responsibility. If they are that careless in the kitchen what happens to your food. BTW I pointed out there were no bananas in my banana pancakes and blueberries thrown on top. I was told that's how it's done and my objection was ignored. If you want careless, rude, rushed service with no interest in customer satisfaction, this is the place to go. read more

My compliments to the chef who prepared my omelet. The eggs were perfectly cooked (not a speck of brown) and filled with a creative combination of cheese, shitake mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, leeks and ham. I went here around 8:30 on a Sunday. It was half full when I arrived, but full when I left. Another review said there isn't much seating -- I think they were at the wrong restaurant. There are around 15 tables and at least 12 seats at the counter. I wasn't impressed with the menu or the food. Menu was super basic -- eggs, meat and toast in various combinations. Frustrated at the lack of creativity, I ordered the eggs any style, where you choose the number of eggs and it comes with home fries and toast. I chose wheat toast and it was the best part of the meal. The eggs were not seasoned, so I had to add salt and pepper myself. The potatoes were salty they were almost inedible. I usually bring my guests from out of town in for breakfast at least once and it always goes over well. They're fast and efficient and friendly. We were on our way to Bucks County Biscotti and, after reading the reviews, decided to stop here for breakfast . Almost every table was occupied, but we got seated immediately. The restaurant is small, but is far from being cramped. All of the walls are white while the floor has a classic black-and-white-square pattern. The specials board is a large chalkboard that's situated against the back wall and that wall is also where counter seating can be found. There are a few tables at the front, but you'll most likely be sat in the back due to the back area having more tables. Daughter ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict Special, which two poached eggs, Canadian bacon, Hollandaise and toasted English muffin, and thought it was tasty and it was nicely done. There were so much potatoes left over that we had enough for breakfast the next day. Next, Hubs ordered the Combo platter, which is short stack of pancakes or French toast with two eggs any style and choice of ham, bacon, sausage, pork roll or scrapple. He ordered his eggs over easy with French toast and a side of scrapple. The eggs were ok. He liked dipping his eggs with French toast and thought it was nice. He's also a closet eater of scrapple, so he and daughter loved it. The weird thing about his order was that every item in his order were served on a different plate. I can't explain that. I ordered a short stack of buttermilk blueberry pancakes and thought it was pretty good. There were a lot of flies in the diner, to the point of annoyance. Food arrived pretty quickly which was nice. My friend who ordered the chicken salad salad asked for no peppers, but it came with them anyway. My friend ended up picking the peppers out of her salad, and she said it was pretty bland. My friends who ordered omelettes really enjoyed their food and would come back again. Aaron described the french toast as acceptable: a little bit overcooked, one bite tasted off but acceptable. The eggs benedict was solid, I quite liked the hollandaise sauce. The poached eggs themselves were a tad overcooked but acceptable. My homefries were unevenly cooked, which made me a little sad. The waitress never returned to the table after dropping off food so we didn't have the opportunity to give feedback on the food and/or send it back. The last time we saw her she dropped off what we assumed was the check, but it was one of the most confusing pieces of paper we'd ever read. It was most likely the greasy paper the waitress wrote on to take our order? The numbers weren't related to the actual price of the entire meal. We were fine paying for the food we got, but it would be nice to see the total ahead of time. Well, not to be unfed for very long, we made our way out to the Diner in an older house off Route 313. After a brief wait, we were seated in a busy, well worn dining room. The restaurant is only open for breakfast & lunch, so the menu was full of omelette and egg plate suggestions along with a chalkboard list of daily specials. It all looked good, and I ordered a Veggie Omelette. It was well packed with fresh and sauteed vegetables, along with a side of nicely done home fries and choice of toast. They even offered fresh Pumpernickel! My wife had a Country Scramble, which featured a mix of ham, onions, and potatoes. We stumbled across this local gem by happenstance in the scenic way to the flea market in Quakertown. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table amidst the sounds of happy diners. It was early afternoon so we selected breakfast. I ordered Kathleen's Omelet and enjoyed every bite. My wife ordered the whitefish platter and was also pleased. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. It felt like the gold old days of great friendly diners. Nothing fancy, just good food well prepared and served by very nice folks.
