Genevieve's is a cute little spot in the heart of Doylestown, perfect for a brunch on Saturday. Important note is they do close at 2pm so if you have a larger group or want time to visit, you'll want to make sure you get an early reservation. For the first time visitors, go up the stairs from the street, through the doorway and down the small hall, to another door where you'll enter the restaurant. There are smaller rooms with various seating options including an outside patio for when the weather is nice. The staff is friendly and very attentive (sometimes almost too much where we felt rushed to have them clear our plates), but the food is why you came. Can't recommend the chicken avocado club enough (toasted sourdough and the best hand cut fries you've ever had) plus the French onion angus burger (fantastic, super juicy and great flavor). Overall, good experience. Great food. Looking forward to sitting outside when it's nice out. read more

Really nice experience at Genevieve's. It is an intimate, relatively quiet space so it was perfect for a meal with family. The warm bread is a fantastic start to the night. I really enjoyed the Filet and polished off every bite. My dad enjoyed the pork chop and a side of brussels. I usually prefer when they are crispier, but the flavor was good. My husband ordered the pasta bolognese, and there were fantastic chunks of short rib that were delicious. The sauce itself wasn't as good as I would have hoped. Genevieve's has been on our must-try list for quite some time, and with another couple tonight was the night that we were gonna try for the first time. It was all exciting about trying some very interesting dishes on the pre-fix meal, but unfortunately, it was not the stellar experience that I was hoping for. For starters, our server and "Director of First Impressions", Amber, was cold, aloof, and disconnected. She was just running through her role in a very detached manner. We made no connection with our server and the server is 50% of the experience. She was rushing. No one was there yet to take her time, and we felt that we had no connection with our server whatsoever. She didn't show any passion for the dishes other than sharing what she felt were her favorites. In a restaurant, speak in creative terms about the food, have and show passion for the food you represent. The four of us discussed the menu, and we all aligned and were going to taste around the table. Between the four of us, one tried the Thai pork dish, one the shrimp dish, and two the eggplant Parm dish. In summary, we all felt that they were underwhelming, and they missed their mark on expectation and wow factor. For example, the Thai pork dish that I had was supposed to have a Thai flair to it. If there was any, it was on the lower end of the flavor profile. It was a tiny dollop of some sort of red Thai chilli sauce, but it wasn't enough of a flavor profile to make me say yes, that's Thai-inspired, and frankly, it was lukewarm, yes the meat was tender. My wife and a friend had the eggplant Parm dish and also felt uninspired by their dishes. One was overcooked compared to the other; the two asked for additional sauce to give it some more flavor. Yes, it was a nice evening out, and you get a lot for your money with a multi-course dining experience. One other oddity. During the dessert course, which was a type of bread pudding, we were not offered coffee nor tea. Even it would have been extra, who doesn't offer a hot beverage with dessert, especially in the artic temps we are experiencing this winter. I had nearly an hour drive home, and coffee would have been most appreciated. Oh well. So in summary, I would have expected this to be a five-star review all day long. Genevieve's was a first time experience for the four of us (my wife, her sister and my brother in law and me). We made 5pm reservations which was perfect timing. We sat outside near an amazing water fountain. The wait staff was friendly and the Chef, Joey accommodating and attentive. Rolls with seasoned olive oil was nice. its nice that it was BYOB. The entrees were splendid. The pork chop on the bone was last night's winner. Great atmosphere. Outside dining is better than inside. Today was my first time at Genevieves and it certainly wont be my last. I met a girlfriend for brunch. I had the yogurt parfait and she had avocado toast Benedict and potatoes. Everything was fresh and delicious. The best part though was when the owner came over to ask how everything was and we got to chatting about family. I loved hearing his story and seeing the sentimental pieces he had representing the people he loved on display. What a kind and wonderful man. The spinach salad dressing had a nice kick also. We ordered the Bronzino and the lamb chops both were delicious and nicely prepared. The food and service were just okay. not the best spot i've visited in doylestown. Food: My party shared the mushroom sandwich, salad, and filet mignon hash. I wasn't a fan of the filet mignon seasoning and the mushroom sandwich was just okay, but the salad was my favorite out of all three. Service: there weren't many workers so i completely understand there being a hefty delay on bringing things out. other notes: my cup had thick lipstick stains, and there were strange black specs in all of our hot waters. i think this portion will be the reason why i don't return. read more

The location is prime. In the center of historic Doylestown. The food is average, and not particularly inspired. The ambiance and overall decor are equally average. This place needs a new chef and kitchen and a modest cleaning and front decor upgrade. Doylestown need better restaurants, and this place could potentially be a contributor. I had heard rave reviews about this small restaurant in Doylestown, across the street from the County Theatre, & had wanted to try it for a number of years. I joined a few friends on a Saturday night. Parking was impossible, & walking over 2 blocks with a cane, only to find that there was a flight of steps up into the restaurant. An unpleasant start. This small BYOB is known for their brunches, but this was dinner. The menu was small & pricey. Soups & salads were $14. Most entrees were $35-$40. I asked the waitress for her recommendation between the odd Veal Parmigiana Bolognese & the Pork Osso Bucco, which I've never had. She recommended the pork, which was to be served with caraway spaetzle & red cabbage. I was extremely disappointed. The pork was tough & not well seasoned. The spaetzle had nary a caraway to be seen or tasted. The red cabbage added a bright taste to an otherwise lackluster dish. I ordered the entree only, & with tax & tip, my bill was $45. If I ever go back, it would only be to try brunch...at least it would be cheaper. read more

We were directed to GK by a local resident who categorized this establishment as "fine dining." Unfortunately, it was anything but. Our party of 3 was seated at a tiny round table, appropriate for 1 person. We ordered VEAL PARMIGIANA BOLOGNESE, FILET MIGNON & WINTER SALAD, (Local baby greens, apples, pears, cranberries, fried goat cheese, orange vinaigrette,) CHOCOLATE GELATO, APPLE CRISP and KEY LIME PIE. The salad while fresh and abundant, for 2, was "decorated" with minuscule slivers of apple. I did not detect any pears or cranberries. The veal was served with a golf ball size of fried veal stuffed with cheese over linguini with a bolognese sauce. We were sharing this dish and were given a bread plate as the "sharing plate." Given the miniscule size of the table I guess this plate was appropriate. While the pasta and bolognese were ok, we were initially confused by the "ball of fried stuffed veal." The piece of veal was also fatty. The mashed potatoes were good but lumpy, the string beans steamed and flavorless. The MAJOR disappointment was dessert. Apple crisp, my favorite fall dessert and so easy to make, was unacceptable and tasted store bought. While the oat topping was generous it lacked flavor, no complexity of cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar. The apples swam in a heavy syrup under it all leading me to believe they were not freshly cooked. It was the kind of filling you find in an apple pie. The key lime lacked the tart, welcoming bite of REAL key limes and the chocolate gelato was routine, at best. Fine dining implies attention to detail, professional staff, comfortable accommodations. This was not in evidence at the restaurant during our visit. Maybe this was an off night for Genevieve's as a party of 6 complained and the chef came into the dining room to address their remarks. Another table noted they never received their appetizers as the waiter placed their entrees down and attempted to offer excuses. Our server did say the cook was alone that evening when usually 2 cooks would be manning the kitchen, which I'm sure contributed to the afore mentioned issues. read more

We went to celebrate a special evening at Genevieve's Kitchen in Doylestown this evening and are so glad we did. Chef Joey personally came to all the tables to check on his guests. The ambience was incredible. Walking through the front door you are greeted by a fireplace and wooden tables with flowers on top. The restaurant is inside of a house which gave it a really warm, welcoming feeling. The food was some of the best, if not the best, in Doylestown. The crab cakes were incredible, filled with fresh lump crab meat and very little filler. Chef recommended the filet, which came out perfectly charred, medium rare and very well presented. Thank you to the staff for creating such a special experience, from being greeted at the front door to getting to speak with the Chef and ask for recommendations, it made for a truly delicious and special evening. Place is cute. BYOB is a plus. Sadly, food was really actually tasteless. Chicken dry, risotto too Al dente, both steaks were overdone. Winter salad and pork belly were good- actually the only saving grace of the evening. Servers don't really interact. Our table shared a thin wall with the dishwasher in the kitchen and it was constantly loud. People used to rave about this, but all in all we were disappointed sadly. read more

This was a cute little spot that me and my friend had gone to while we were out venturing through Bucks County on Yelps Road-trip. My friend had chosen this spot and it was a good choice. The staff were very friendly and seated us right away. They had a set brunch menu with a pretty good variety of foods to choose from. There were eggs to burgers and the special for the day was a chicken salad sandwich on brioche, which the waitress had said had walnuts, grapes, apples and raisins on it. As soon as she mentioned the special I knew I wanted it. The sandwich also came with French fries. My friend had ordered a grilled cheese sandwich that was made with all different types of cheese and I believe had mushrooms on it. The food came out so quickly and was so tasty. The brioche bread was buttery and so fresh and grilled perfectly and had a great crunch to it. The chicken salad was also flavorful and the sandwich was filling. My friend also ordered the truffle fries and they were so tasty, hot and fresh. We ended up drinking water and I ordered a lemonade. The lemonade tasted more like a sparkling fizzy drink like a soda more than what lemonade I'm used to but was surprisingly refreshing. I was shocked to know they didn't serve soda, because a soda would've paired better with the sandwich-- but I was still very satisfied. Overall I would definitely come back and eat here again if I'm ever in this area. Maybe I'll come back and try their dinner. read more

We happened into this charming establishment after a movie at the County Theatre across State Street. Fortunately, there was room without a reservation (timing!) and we enjoyed two delicious courses. The service is very attentive and the setting is very comfortable. The chef even emerged from the (sweltering) kitchen to ensure guests were pleased. We will make a point of making a reservation and returning - possibly for their inviting brunch menu. read more

I gave Genevieve's 5 stars for the terrific food but some improvements are needed. Started off with the rather large yogurt parfait that somehow came without any granola...like where's the granola?!? Sorry about that...we're out. Not so good; Still, lots of strawberries and delicious yogurt. The spinach and cheese omelette was one of the best I've had in a long, long time. Perfect. Great grilled sourdough bread. Great salad + fruit subbed out for the hash browns. Some of the best coffee (1/2 caff) I've had in some time. Too bad about the coffee cups being lipstick-free. Yeah...that's not so good but the food quality was so phenomenal I couldn't ding them enough to make this a 4-star review. Those quibbles are minor compared to the excellent food quality. Service was nice and the ambiance converted house...cozy. You're close to the James Mitchner / Mercer museum complex so this is a nice lunch/brunch stop. read more

Had the "locals" dinner on Sunday night this past week. it was excellent. Entree selections were great and the price, $30 , for a 4 course meal was exceptional. What happened to this place? First, I see that I previously reviewed G's in 2014 and back then we got shoved to this crappy table staring at the kitchen; now nine years later and Viola -- same table. We had a group of six, so they said they couldn't seat us in the (empty) dining room. We had guests from Congo and France...come on man, we're trying to show them the best of Doylestown! You are a SERVICE business. Shoved into the crappiest table in the place with only a view of the dirty kitchen. The "bread and oil" was embarrassing to serve to our guest from France!! The bread was stale and tasteless. So bad. Embarrassingly stale. As we awaited our appetizers, the owner, who was also the cook that we had a terrible view of, came out in what looked like dirty pajamas and actually called the place "this dump" in front of us and our international guests! We were mortified. The only saving grace was the food, which was pretty good. NOT worth writing home about, but plenty good and hot. No complaints about the entrees themselves. At dessert, we ordered coffee. It came out room temperature. So we asked for a heat-up. The waitress, nice enough, but not a real service pro, told us how the coffee maker was acting up, etc. Really? $65 a plate in a restaurant in the heart of Doylestown and you can't make .... coffee???? When dessert finally arrived, she tossed the forks in a pile on the table. So, the entree was tasty, but man, everything else was like a bad day at Ruby Tuesday. Just bad, especially for the price and for the expectation. Really disappointing. Scratch Genevieve's off the list. We won't go back. Too many other good choices in the area. But I'll leave with simple free advice that will cost NOTHING to implement and will make a huge difference in keeping future customers: 1. Serve good, fresh, warm bread. Go to Simple Fresh down the street and get it. They have an incredible selection of fresh breads. 2. Serve the women first -- the sign of a restaurant that gets it. 3. Take the extra five seconds and place the silverware on the table; don't chuck it. 4. Make good coffee. It's not hard. 5. Engage with your customers. You are charging $14 for a handful of lettuce and $35 for a small pork chop. This is not TGIFriday's. THINK SERVICE! 6. Don't call your establishment a dump in front of your customers who are about to spend over $300 at your dump, 7. Step up your service game. You are not Red Robin! read more

The best brunch food I have encountered in my thirty-five year existance on this planet! All the items are unique enough that I support the decision to travel over one hour to this establishment, hey guys its also right on the main strip of Doylestown so you can walk around and shop in an awesome area or take in a movie right across the street, you can see the theater from the location where we sat right in front of the window. bbq chicken benny - A terrific bbq flavor, (think spice but not your typical bbq spice more so a tabisco light feeling sauce with great flavor) all white meat chicken with a poached egg on an English muffin. Our table also ordered the Duck hash skillet. The duck was crispy and my god what a tremendous decision by the chef to prepare it this way! So delectable, the pototoes were also exceptional which I normally stay away from for a brunch option but these taste very clean and healthy. Last meal option we tried was the wild mushroom omelette. Wow, I am a huge fan of wild mushrooms and you definitely can't order this item at Denny's, IHOP, Jack in the box, or insert your typical chain restaurant. All items at this place are farmed with care and prepared with passion! I will be back you can count on that. Definitely recommend coming early or making reservations not a ton of seating but that also adds to the craft ambiance for this historic building. read more

This was worth the 50 minute drive!!!! Came here for restaurant week and will have to come back soon! The food was awesome! The wild boar meatballs were delish. It was well seasoned and full of flavor, just perfect. Then I had the Arctic char! Yummm! Crispy skin with some mussels and potatoes in a light red sauce. It's a cute small establishment in a cute town. It is BYOB! The owner was awesome/friendly. He came out to check on our meals and even delivered our food. Service was great.
