Chicken Greek Style
Agnes K.

What a fantastic Greek restaurant. The staff was incredibly welcoming and kind. It is not a very big place, but feels very cozy. Food was absolutely delicious , the Greek chicken was amazing! Everything on the menu was reasonably priced and the food being served throughout the restaurant was very generously portioned. Wish I had tried this place sooner!

Truly a legit Greek restaurant. Reasonably priced (cash only), which is not a bad thing. A good sized menu serving authentic Greek appetizers, sandwiches, and full meals. Their salads are no joke! Excellent fresh veggies loaded into your plate and generous helpings of feta cheese. The small are large and the large can be shared. The egg lemon soup is the real deal. This is easily the kind of place you can find yourself a few times a week. There really is something fur everybody here.

Cross-Rhodes is one of my favorite places to get a burger. I've come here for many, many years and have eaten countless burgers. I get the Charburger with feta, and it's served with all the fixins on a sesame bun. It's always perfectly grilled and juicy and is served with Greek fries (crispy cottage with vinegar and oregano) which are just amazing. My friend has always ordered the vegetarian salad with slices of gyro with a cup of avgolemono soup. The tzatziki sauce is thick and garlicky and so good. Portions are very generous. Cross-Rhodes is nothing fancy but if you want simple and hearty Greek food, you'll find it here. Staff has been here for ages. Cash only but there's an ATM in the vestibule. Once long ago, we considered living around the corner from Cross-Rhodes, which would have been a disaster for my hips. As it is we make a regular pilgrimage and I'm always happy and excited to get a burger and look forward to the next visit.

My boyfriend has been wanting to take me to Cross-Rhodes forever as they have one is his favorite burgers; The Rhodes Burger, which is a half pound burger patty with cheese, topped with gyros meat on a sesame seed bun. It sits on a bed of steak cut Greek fries, which are equally loved. It's a big burger and will keep you full for most of the day. He asked for it to be cooked medium, and it was perfectly medium. I took a couple of bites, and the meat was so soft and juicy and the gyros was perfectly crispy. They don't skimp on the gyros. I ordered chicken souvlaki with grilled vegetables and tzatziki sauce. Chicken kabob in general is pretty similar from restaurant to restaurant, but their chicken kabob was one that I especially enjoyed. It had great flavor, wasn't dry, but also wasn't swimming in juice and had a beautiful char. I love a char on my meats, so it was pretty hard to not finish my plate. The tzatziki was very good - thick, with good flavor and not overly garlicky. The service was wonderful. We were greeted upon arrival and as we left by who I assume was the owner. Our waitress was very sweet and personable and made you feel right at home. Very cozy place. If you're in the area, be sure to give it a try.

Cross rhodes was there first place I ate at when moving to Evanston. It will always have a special place in my heart. The restaurant is cash only which makes it really difficult for me to visit without making a separate trip to an ATM first. If it's your first time here, definitely get the gryo dinner plate with tzatziki sauce. This plate will feed you twice and you will be dreaming of the sauce.

Burger flattened for delivery

Mediocre food, terrible delivery. Burger was pressed flat. Fries were soggy. $7 for a 3oz container of hummus.

Their supposedly "authentic", "fresh" and "culinary treasure" Mousaka is really just frozen food re-heated on their griddle.

Food is decent. Typical gryos, burgers, sandwiches, salads fare. The one special thing -- I love the Greek fries with Lemon Herb Dressing.

The chicken and hummus, bleck! The Greek fries, blerg! A soggy mess. Even my pita bread was wet and pasty.

Not much I enjoy more than a cup of egg-lemon soup, Greek fries, and the Greek chicken from Cross Rhodes.

The most delicious Greek fries ever. Cash only but worth it I was sick and ordered their soup and it was just what I needed.

The 1 hour and 15 minute drive to Evanston to have tea with my hija-amiga was absolutely worth it…read more Patisserie Corali is a tiny, very popular, and very crowded little gem that serves a beautifully simple high tea in a warm, quaint, country-French setting that instantly puts you at ease. We had a dedicated server who was kind, friendly, and young -- and her slight lack of experience only added to the charm. It felt human, unpolished in the best way, and refreshingly sincere. The classic three-tier stand delivered a joyful tasting journey: savory finger sandwiches, lovely cakes and sweets (including their excellent macarons and madeleines), plus warm buttery scones and tasty mini quiches served separately. It was a cornucopia of small delights; generous, comforting, and clearly made with care. The tea selection is also wonderful and thoughtfully curated. What truly stood out, though, was the lack of pomposity. No stiffness, no theatrics, just good food, good tea, and a feeling that you've been welcomed into someone's home. Easily one of the best high tea experiences in the Chicago area. Lovely, cozy, and full of heart.

This is a darling and precious French cafe on the corner of Davis and Chicago Avenue in Evanston…read more I've been wanting to come to this cafe for ages. It's small and sweetly decorated (Eiffel Towers, rolling pins, Guy de Maupassant quote, stack of macarons tower), with cafe tables along the sidewalk. But it's the bakery cases that draw the eye, of course. A rainbow of macarons, stacks of croissants. Pastries like jewels. I ordered a tomato, basil & mozzarella quiche. They let me know it would take a few minutes to heat up. I also ordered a cafe au lait and almond croissant. The croissant was very large, a little more crispy than I like, and filled with a liquidy almond, not paste. It was very good, although not the best croissant I've had. The quiche was marvelous, soft and delicate, and basil scented with a flaky crust. It was not overly cheesy -- just the right amount. I ordered a slice of salmon quiche to go. I also selected a half-dozen macarons to take away. They were delicate, with a slightly crunchy outer layer and a sweet and flavorful center. I loved the Coralie Coffee flavor as well as the rest.
