I have been craving Thai milk tea for the last couple weeks and finally decided to grab it from Tealicious Bubble on my day off with my mom. When I saw that their menu also had egg waffles and popcorn chicken, I ordered those as well. And even though my mom said she didn't want anything to drink, I ordered her a taro milk tea with taro balls. I've been here before for bubble tea but I never had any of the food. It could possibly be an off day for them - they were totally besieged with orders once they opened so I'm not sure if that played a roll. The chicken pieces weren't properly battered. Taiwanese popcorn chicken should be lightly battered...this was more like sparsely battered. I've definitely had better popcorn chicken. The egg waffles were a miss too. They tasted mediocre. In my opinion, the best egg waffles you can smell a mile away. These weren't like that. The matcha one had a very very faint matcha flavor. If it wasn't for the color on the egg waffles distinguishing the difference, I would've thought both were the same ones. It was quite disappointing since I know there's another spot just 5 mins away that does egg waffles really well. What I really like about Tealicious Bubble is that they have a lot of non dairy options and that you can substitute a non dairy milk with no additional cost. I requested about 25%/50% sweetness for the Thai milk tea and it totally hit the spot. It's my first time trying the taro from here and I was surprised to see that it was fresh and not the usual purple powder. Such a cute plushie wall that's great for photos and LOVE this place for their taro boba! My go-to drink is the wintermelon milk tea with taro boba! They are nice and let me substitute the regular boba for taro boba free of charge. Not many boba shops (or really any...) offer taro boba as a topping and they do it so well here. Tastes a little more like taro mochi in texture, but authentic taro, not artificial. I live in the city but will drive to Evanston to get boba here--that's how much I enjoy the taro boba! This is a smallish, newish (2.5 years), and popular Taiwanese bubble tea shop.  We dropped in for a light Saturday night dinner/snack and had their stewed pork bento box ($11.99), a plain egg waffle ($4.99), and a large and colorful Japanese matcha strawberry latte ($6.49).  The classic Taiwanese stewed pork dish was delicious.  The egg waffle was hot and fresh right off the griddle.  The latte was also delectable, and it was nice to be able to customize the sugar (little) and ice levels (none).  I'm no bubble tea connoisseur, and there are so many flavor combinations, but I saw this one was a popular as well as visually enticing choice, and after tasting I agree on it's popularity - it's refreshing and good.  It was vibrant and busy and we were able to grab the last table.  A nice, fun Evanston stop for us. read more

I also tried the black sugar tea boba and I was delighted that it was customizable, I asked for less sugar and it was perfect for me. Tealicious, in my opinion, is the best place for boba in Evanston, as the actual pearls are homemade! The taro pearls are the best and I always add them to every drink I order. I love the food offerings they have as well, as they feature different Taiwanese style bento boxes, such as braised pork belly or popcorn chicken, and each bento I've tried is flavorful and cooked well. I would say that the bento boxes are just a little on the higher end of pricing given the relatively smaller portion size, but that's just my own opinion. TEAlicious is handling the pandemic pretty well; even with precautions in place, it is very popular. I stopped by with two friends when we were in the area and tried it for the first time. My friend was excited to see the strawberry matcha on the drinks menu, it reminded of us the classic Boba Guys drink. I ordered the four seasons milk oolong tea which was only $4. I asked for half sugar and less ice, and they did exactly that. Pretty straightforward and while the drink wasn't out of this world amazing, it was still very decent for the price. The interior is very clean and looks like a great environment, but of course once you have your drink you are expected to be out the door.
