I've been a member at CrossFit 580 for about 7 months now and have really been enjoying it. I've been doing CrossFit for close to 10 years (got hooked when I lived in Hawaii), and after moving to the Tri-Valley area, I had a hard time finding a gym that felt like the right fit. I tried the other CrossFit gyms around Livermore/Pleasanton and honestly became pretty disenchanted with the gym scene out here. I ended up just doing garage workouts for a while, but realized I really missed the community and energy of being in an actual gym environment. I finally decided to check out CF580, and I'm so glad I did because it's easily become my favorite gym in the area. What stands out to me most: - Programming - The workouts are challenging enough that you always leave feeling like you got a solid workout in, but they're also approachable for all fitness levels. - Community - Strong community feel with social events throughout the year, which makes it easy to get to know people outside of class. - Low ego environment - I've been to gyms where the members are not the friendliest, and I think that usually reflects gym ownership/culture. At 580, people are genuinely welcoming. You'll see all fitness levels here, and everyone is supportive and motivating. - Class schedule - Love that they offer Sunday WODs, which not every gym does. The weekday 5am and 6am classes are also great and provide more flexibility. I've also never had issues getting into class or being stuck on a waitlist. - Family friendly - I have two little ones and have brought them with me to class. There's a small weight room in the back where kids can hang out with toys/snacks, and there's even a TV back there to keep them entertained. - Knowledgeable coaches - All the coaches are experienced, friendly, and supportive. My regular coaches are Steve, Brad, and Nicole and they are SUPER! - Great owner - DJ was welcoming and personable from day one. He even comped my first AND second classes so I could really try the gym out before committing. Oh, and he often leaves out fruit every day, which I've never seen another gym do! Such a thoughtful touch. - Military discount - My husband is active duty military, and I really appreciate that they extend the military discount to spouses too. I've been coming to CrossFit 580 since 2014 and I don't see myself not having this as my daily/weekly regime. All the motivational coaches, new, current, old and former members are like my extended family in and outside of the gym. I've lost 30+ lbs via structured, safe workouts and customized, well tailored nutritional plans from this place. Update as of June 2026. This is a great community. We tried the 6am class, the coach was very friendly and inclusive with all of us regardless of the level we are at. He met everyone at their level and worked on modifying exercises to suit them and made everyone comfortable. CrossFit usually seems intimidating but Steve did a great job! I am new to CrossFit, so was understandably nervous walking into my first few weeks of classes at CF580, but the coaches and members have been extremely welcoming, helpful, and--most importantly--not judgmental as I get up to speed. I've left every class feeling an incredible sense of accomplishment AND community so far, and that's why I plan to keep coming back. The workouts are easily the hardest workouts I've ever done (which I love), but they're safe and the coaches have been great about making sure my form is solid so I don't get injured. The equipment is well taken care of, and there's plenty of it. Signing up for classes is really easy; they have an app where I can do it right from my phone, and I can also log my workout times and see leaderboards for all the workouts and lifts. Post pandemic I was looking for an option to get back into Crossfit, since my old gym had closed down and I was getting a little too thicc from working out at the home gym. I put a few feelers out there and was matched immediately to Kyle at Crossfit 580. I was warmly greeted to join for a session and found the staff and other members SOOOO welcoming. Fast forward some time and I've already been a member a year (and received a fun 'it's been a year!' email too!). What I love most about Crossfit 580 is that they teach you proper technique and scale so you don't hurt yourself and come back, and encourage you to do the best that YOU can do. Want to lift all the weight in the gym and run around like a madman? Let's go! Not feeling that great today and need to scale the WOD to something you can get done today? No problem! I've never felt pressured to perform outside of my comfort zone and that's really important to me. The cool thing is, I've seen results! Personally, I've PR'd in all of my lifts since working out here for a year and still I feel like I can go further. This place has changed my life... 4 months ago I had zero confidence to jump or squad because I had 2 knees surgeries last year. I came to CF580 and the coaches scaled the workout to my ability and continue to motviate me. In such a short period of time, I can now comfortably jumping up and down from 15 inches of plates. As someone who really doesn't enjoy working out and gyms have always made me anxious, I was super nervous to take a class here. After hearing great things about this place from friends I decided to just get in there and give it a whirl. My first class was w Jacquelyn and was immediately met w such encouragement and positivity. She made me comfortable and helped me modify when needed since I was a bit "rusty". My second class was w Chad and he immediately made me feel like I was part of the "family". He was super encouraging and patient w my lack of knowledge of anything really. I was referred to CF580 by Coach Lindsey - she's 10/10! I've been a member since Fall 2022 and have loved being a part of the community. Aside from the quality workouts, I really value being surrounded by good people and a positive energy. It's the right dose of competitiveness between members, while being extremely inclusive and tunable to each member's needs. I really admire how the gym has created family-friendly environment that feels welcoming to all ages and skill levels. With my sporadic schedule, I'm constantly bouncing between class times and have taken classes with all the coaches. You really can't go wrong - they are top notch and offer a nice blend of encouragement, coaching, and suggestions to tune your workout so you get the most out of it. I've been to plenty of regular gyms but decided to do a 'drop-in' class at CrossFit 580. Of course I was nervous as a newbie but everyone was so nice and helpful. The atmosphere was fun and energetic with plenty of space and equipment to effectively complete your workout. Trainer Jackie is especially passionate and knowledgeable about not just what exercises to do but how to do them. She is attentive and makes sure you're doing the exercises correctly and gives suggestions on to improve your form. Additionally, they have great hours that fit into any schedule.
