This is a great Crossfit gym! I've been a member for 5 years and still love it. The coaches are awesome and everyone is so welcoming and inclusive. The coaches always have modifications for various fitness levels or if you have an injury. They are understanding that everyone has different abilities and fitness goals. I always enjoy going to class and love that the workouts are always different. It's also nice that they post the workouts for the whole week. I take advantage of this and do some of the workouts at home when I can't make it in to the gym. I got into CrossFit when my fiancé asked if I wanted to try it out. I agreed. We went to the intro class and I was extremely intimidated by the people working out in the session before ours, but I didn't let that get to me. Joy coached our intro class and she was great! She gave us a taste of what a regular WOD is like and even showed us modified movements if we weren't up to a certain level, yet. We continued with on-ramp, which was great. 6 sessions of learning the fundamentals. Granted they don't get to cover everything in CF, but definitely the things we end up doing most often. Once I started going to the regular sessions, everyone was at a different fitness level, but the coaches are so great at helping to modify movements, correct form, teach, etc. I love that. It's almost as if I have a personal trainer without having to pay the price! WODs are usually structured like: warm-up, stretching, skills/lifting, metabolic conditioning workout. Everyone at the box is so welcoming, nice, and encouraging. I love the atmosphere and all of the coaches are great! Nobody has an ego and walks around like they are better than the rest. You're there for you and not to compete against anyone else but yourself. I've had experiences with all of the instructors and they are all great. Even if it's a class of upwards of 20 people, they still take the time to give everyone individual attention. There is so much I can do now that I wasn't able to do 3 months ago and I can see and feel the difference! I've adopted a mostly-Paleo diet and really love the way I feel. Even though I recently moved to Pleasanton, I still make the drive into Livermore because I can't imagine not seeing my coaches and fellow CrossFitters everyday! I used to be a member at this gym 4 years back before I moved to LA, recently I traveled to the bay area and got a chance to drop in here. The gym is still looking great as it used to be and was good to see some familiar faces and coach Eric. All the equipment looked brand new and I loved their new T-shirt designs. I was there on Monday, 3/3/14 for the 1000 class and Pete was the coach. My niece has been a member of CF580 since Nov 2011, and I always promised her if I came to visit, I would WOD with her. I finally got to go and was very impressed. As everyone else has broken down the facility, etc., I will just say I agree 100% with others' comments regarding cleanliness, size, equipment, etc., and skip straight to other points that matter to me in my limited experience dropping in at other CF boxes. Coach Pete may be quiet but he knows his stuff. He immediately took interest in my bum shoulder, which tells me the waiver I filled out wasn't just an exercise in penmanship. He kept track of me, too, since the WOD included snatches and OH squats, it hit my scar-tissue-impaired shoulder area hard. I especially appreciate the continuity of the CF coaching. I began my CrossFit journey in January of 2012 at a garage box called CrossFit Paleo Fitbox, with an AMAZING coach. She instilled the basics in me, then moved away to open a "real" box only 8 months later. I became a member of CrossFit Yelm (WA) soon after this, and was so glad when all the coaches I had there were on the same page. Imagine my delight when Pete continued that same excellent coaching! So, as this appears to be something I didn't see in other reviews, I just want to point out another huge benefit of being a CrossFitter: continuity! Can you imagine traveling to a different city or state (possibly even another country) and expecting to have the coaches do anything even remotely like each other? I'm not talking the fad workout of the moment like Zumba or Body Pump, etc. I'm talking plain, solid, functional fitness that includes the elements we need to be fit and healthy. The coaching styles will vary, but in the basics of our workouts, the design and content will be the same. Amazing! Community is easily 50% of what I want in any CF experience, and although it was a small class (six of us), I was really pleased that the members were welcoming and encouraging. I can see clearly why my niece is such an enthusiastic member of CF580, and not at all surprised she became Level One certified, so is now an instructor. Go Zara! I can't do the whole soapbox thing anymore, trying to convince someone they will get in the best health and fitness of their life if ONLY they would start doing CrossFit. Instead, I will tell anyone reading this, whether you are curious and just want to check it out, an experienced CrossFitter who is visiting, or someone looking for a new box - you absolutely can't go wrong at CF580. read more

IT'S NOT JUST CROSSFIT! Don't be intimidated, at least not here, since everyone here is super welcoming and kind. I've been attending the morning boot camp class with Eric, and couldn't be more pleased with the pace, help, and support I've gotten, coming back into working out after a long bout of illness. You guys, I'm driving an hour here just to hang out with these guys because they're that awesome! Rates are cheaper than every single place where I currently live in the Oakland area, there's good times for classes, and there is a kid's area for unsupervised child care/play. I hate to work out. After years of having membership at Lifestyle RX in Livermore and never going or going for a few weeks and stopping. The experience at CrossFit 580 has been mind bending. At 44 years old I've let myself go, most of my life I ate whatever I wanted never had to worry about gaining weight, until I hit 40 then the weight just started stay on around the gut area. My posture started to suffer and my lower back would go out at least twice a year from an construction injury around 30 yrs old, and a knee injury on the job at 35 years old. It seemed my passion for snowboarding was over. Been going to CrossFit 580 for a month, it real sucked the first 3 weeks, did I mention I hate running too. The community at CrossFit 580 has been inspiring and the coach interaction has been spot on. I actually look forward to going to work out, soon or later I will be lifting more and running faster than the pregnant girl, if that's not motivating I don't know what is. read more

I've been traveling a lot for work and haven't been able to work out with my tribe for a while. So I was excited on my last business trip up in the Livermore area because my schedule allowed me to actually workout. I did some research and came across CrossFit 580. Just from the website I saw that they had a great approach to their workouts and fitness in general and from my first session was impressed with how structured their warm ups and workouts were. This Box is great! There was lots of room to spread out during workouts so nobody was tripping over each other, all their equipment is in great condition and there is a good amount of everything to go around, it's very clean and a big positive for me was they have a great amount of air flow so it wasn't stuffy or too hot while working out. But the best part of every Box I feel is the people. The folks at CrossFit 580 are no exception. Everyone was friendly and made it a great place to work out. The coaches I was able to work out with were great. They were helpful, provided great feedback on form, focused on teaching the right way to do things, and were great motivators. I had a very positive experience working out at CrossFit 580 and can't say enough good things about it. I will be coming back here whenever I'm in the area. When I first joined everyone was so welcoming and I felt like I was part of the group immediately. The coaches are awesome and are constantly pushing you to work your hardest. There have been a lot of "boxes" to open up in the past few years. Having been to many of them I can tell you that unfortunately many are run by inexperienced owners whose enthusiasm vastly outweighs any actual expertise. Mark and his wife (this is a family run business) have been in the industry a LONG time, and Mark has more knowledge of strength training then most guys in the business. No matter what your level of experience, this place will help you reach your goals. It is well stocked, well staffed, and most importantly, they really care. Still very pleased with this box! My teenager joined last year and have really gotten fitter and stronger through the great coaching of Coach Steven as well as other awesome coaches. They recently added CrossFit kids and I signed my younger daughter up because it's such a great program that encourages kids to workout while having fun as well. Coach Chad is a certified CrossFit Kids coach who is excellent working with young children.
