Okay, so let's get this out of the way--I'm not your typical reviewer. I could probably count the number of reviews I've written on one hand... without even taking off my shoes! So, CrossFit--yeah, we've all heard about it. Maybe you've already formed some opinions (like I did). So when my wife asked me to join her at CrossFit Ampersand, I was a little more than skeptical. I mean, I'm a former athlete, Marine, and currently an active coach. What could CrossFit possibly teach me? And with my crazy busy schedule running my own practices and work, I had no idea how I'd even find the time to squeeze this in. Also, let's be real--since hitting 40, I've packed on a few (okay, a lot) of extra pounds around the middle. Tried a few fad diets with zero luck. So, when I walked into Ampersand, I was fully expecting yet another disappointment. But then... boom! I'm met with two awesome trainers who clearly had done their homework (they knew my rep, obviously ). They walked me through the form, technique, and all that good stuff--honestly, as a coach, I really appreciated their attention to detail. The positive feedback and the correction to improve my form? Yeah, I was into it. After completing the OnRamp program (fancy intro stuff to make sure you don't break yourself on day one), I actually felt confident. They even helped me figure out how to fit classes into my insane schedule. Now, let me paint a picture of my mindset before that first real class: Will I fit in? Is this gonna be too hard? What if my old injuries flare up? Oh, and let's not forget, "I'm overweight and out of shape, I'll last a month tops, then peace out." Well, guess what? Six months later... I'm STILL here! So, what's the deal? Why Ampersand? One word: the people! From day one, I felt welcomed--no judgment, no shame. They meet you where you are, and they help you get to where you want to be. No, you won't be crushing the RX workout on day one (I sure wasn't), but the scaling options make sure you're still getting a killer workout at your level. And the community? Everyone's been where I was, and their stories, their encouragement--that's what keeps me walking through those doors day after day. This place is amazing. They provide you with the best tools to succeed. I started not knowing anything about CrossFit. And very afraid to start. I felt so welcomed right away. The education they provided me before starting classes left me feeling totally comfortable. The environment is so supportive all of the coaches look out for you and make sure that you feel comfortable in the movements and at the day I seriously was so impressed. I love the place. I loved the fellow gym members and I loved all of the coaches.. the owners are so kind and motivating . If you are nervous to start CrossFit like I was, this is the best place you could possibly check out. I can't recommend them enough!!!! read more

Great CrossFit gym. Convenient location in the heart of Gardnerville. Several class times to fit into my busy schedule so I can make class when I'm able. Very clean facility, nice equipment, and good space for each member to workout in. The coaches are professional and very friendly. The other members are welcoming and friendly as well. Good programming that's challenging and always changing and keeps my training moving forward. This gym has done amazing things for my physical and mental health. read more

I have been attending this gym for about 6 months. Harmony and Jeff are fantastic coaches.... They take the time to make sure you are lifting and performing all the movements correctly. If you are unable to perform a movement, they find a suitable alternative that is still physically demanding and gets you good workout! I love the team environment! I highly recommend it! read more
