Been to a lot of gyms over the years, never have I seen a staff so on top of cleaning. Been here maybe 15-20 times over the years while visiting and I have never not seen someone cleaning. All cardio equipment is at least15 years old. Too many screamers and young kids undisciplined.

It is a great fitness center except for the spin class - there is no ventilation and 25 bikes squeezed together. Why No air conditioner and all windows closed? Fans are not enough. Remove some bikes or turn on AC. Added: In response to the owner's message to me on Yelp I wanted to let everyone know that I had reported this issue to the front desk and suggestion box at least 3 times prior to posting what I thought was an anonymous review. I have also made suggestions including removing some of the bikes or moving the class back to the larger work out room. I also suggested adding fans - If you are still looking for ideas on how to improve pulse fitness, I would suggest visiting one of the spin classes in Reno or Soul Cycle where the AC is powered on high minutes after the class starts. There is not any ac in the pulse class but as soon as you walk out of the class there is AC in the other rooms. One window open is helpful but not near enough for me. So I am looking at moving to another spin classs.. Like I said above, pulse is a good club but I think it is too over crowded now and the ventilation and ac system is not sufficient for 25 people all squeezed together. Gym is great but the front desk lady Melissa is the rudest employee I have ever encountered. So if you want to feel unwelcomed and harassed , this is your gym. This review covers only our complete tour of the Pulse Fitness facility in Minden a few days ago. Gayle and I are looking for a new gym to supplement our frequent walks and my current cardiac rehab sessions. Our decision at this point is "maybe", and we'll update this review as applicable. CONS 1. Covid Precautions - None as far as I could tell and there was apparently no pretending otherwise. I was the only one wearing one within the entire facility during our visit. There's no mask sign at the front door, nor was there any other communications on mask requirements or "encouragement" posted or otherwise expressed. Their apparent "do very little" approach might actually be more honest than the "wink wink - nod nod" that happens at other places in Douglas County. But our County is still "CDC Red" and under the entirely legal State mask mandate (regardless of our Sherriff's enforcement position or Fed-OSHA's recent Supreme Court loss). In comparison, my cardiac rehab exercise machine sessions at Carson-Tahoe are fully masked by all, including during exercise. Let's hope that mask mandates and other COVID restrictions expire soon, because I'm tired of all this. 2. The treadmills don't have individual TV screens. Yes, I like to zone out on an Law & Order episode will on the machine. However, there are TV screens available for viewing along that wall. PROS 1. Open 24/7 and maybe somewhat convenient to our home in Genoa. 2. This is a huge (and clean) facility with plenty of room to exercise or social distance. However, Gayle thinks it may be a little too big for her. 3. Impressive inventory of exercise equipment and weights. 4. Nice array of various exercise classes (Yoga, spinning, stretching, etc.) 5. Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. They answered our questions patiently and thoroughly. 6. In-House Individual trainers are available. 7. Pulse accepts Medicare gym subsidies. read more

I've been coming here for 5 years. Place needs to be updated! Most of the treadmills have black electrical tape on the tread belts. It's summer the doors are propped open. No air conditioning!!!!! I heard it's under new ownership? Hopefully the gym will be updated. Staff is nice and the classes are great! I love the sauna. read more

I drove to Gardnerville NV from CT for a long stay vacation and was looking for a good fitness club to join. After visiting several other exercise fitness clubs in the area, Pulse Fitness club was recommended to me from a local businessman in the area and called Pulse Fitness. I left a voicemail message and was called back within an hour from Steve, the manager/ owner and he told me to stop by and he would help me and my girlfriend. He gave us a great tour of his fitness center! He was kind, helpful and very informative to work with. Steve was great and we both signed up! I would highly recommend Pulse Fitness in Minden NV 15 minutes from us! We both would say it is the best fitness club in Gardnerville and this area of NV! read more

The staff is so amazing. The owner himself is always available no matter the situation, and he takes pride in his gym. You can tell that he cares not just about appearances for his gym and cleanliness but he also takes pride about who he has on staff. The gym is small but not too small. Received very detailed response from Damon Partridge who is the owner of gym. Put a lot of effort Into email and ways to correct service. He also explained he and his wife bought the gym just as COVID would be devastating our world. I had no expectations of any kind from this review,. He took initiative like many as I call "mom and pop business" owners would. I am so for supporting small businesses like this. Being from LA I've watched places I loved go under over the years. At the end of the day we are all human and there will always be mistakes or even bad employees. This owner went over the top to address issues and make changes for success. Very disappointed in the new staff. I've been coming to this gym for 18 years and never before has the staff been so rude! I understand covid, I understand the masks and wiping down machines. Totally cool with social distancing too. Now you are not required to wear a mask while working out on a machine or free weights. Hardly anyone was wearing a mask at all, not between sets, not between machines, not to get water and one girl didn't even bring a mask in at all. Now the staff girl with very light blond hair working on Friday afternoon wiping machines down, was very hypocritical and power hungry. I was loading weights on to a machine where there was a guy next to me doing the same thing. She comes up to me not socializing distancing in my face telling me to put a mask on and leave it on even when I am working out. Less than five minutes later she is flirting with a guy, only maybe 2 feet from him who has no mask on and left his mask in the locker room. Then one of her friends didn't even bring a mask in with them! After that I was rather annoyed and dizzy from wearing the mask while working out rather vigorously. She has the audacity to say thanks for wearing the mask. Being very condescending with her tone about it and my mom was not told to wear one nor was the gentleman talking to my mother. In all of my years coming here and going to gyms I have never seen a staff act so rudely and pick on just one select person in the gym like this. I've been to hundreds of gyms a crossed the country and competed in power lifting and npc body building. Have an athlete forced to wear a mask during strenuous exercise can be dangerous, if I fainted it could have been a law suit. read more

My husband and I love pulse fitness! From the second we signed up the owner Steve made us feel so welcome. Amazing selection of machines and they are all in great condition! Gorgeous gym nice and clean and open with a couple different group class and other fitness rooms branching off of the main area. They also have tanning! I wouldn't even give this place a rating. Worst service i've ever dealt with, the people are snobby, lost my job while i had this membership and contacted the manager letting them know that i did not have the money for it at the moment. They would not let me out of the membership nor would they give me a couple weeks to figure it out, they turned it over to collection agency and now my credit is horrible. If you are thinking about going here to get a membership I would recommend directing your attention elsewhere. read more

I wouldn't recommend this gym because of late charges if you don't have enough money in account. They kept running my card after I kept asking them not too. I finally caught up the account giving them over 200.00 in their late fees. They said they couldn't close my account until my account was 0. Everytime they ran my card there was a late fee. They sometimes ran an empty card 3 times a week. They REFUSED to stop running my card. I finally paid off their late fees. While this was all happening I couldn't go to the gym. They charged me hundreds of dollars in late fees with no service to their gym. Also you can't go to the gym if you're behind on payment and late fees. Do not go to this gym if you're on a budget and can't afford overdraft fees. Community Center you can pay month to month. 24 hour fitness no late fees. read more

Good local gym that gets you in to the club in 30 seconds. Allowing you to still get your pump while traveling because 3 treadmills in your hotels "gym" just won't do the trick. People at the counter very friendly and eager to help people that are just visiting. read more

Best all over gym in the Carson valley, even most of tahoe. Everything you need! Manager is great and always checking out equipment to make sure all is maintained and kept up to five star standard. They're open 24/7 which is also nice... we always come back home around the holidays and the early hours are so helpful on holidays. All classic strength equipment, multiple racks, full set of dumbbells, kettlebells, sled/turf, cycling room, two Pelotons, saunas... everything you could need and more! read more

The members and most of the staff are great - my favorite gym of all time (and I've been to quite a few). I say most of the staff because they have a hot-headed lead trainer who verbally chewed my head off after mistakenly accusing me of being paid to train my workout buddy. I can't speak to his skills as a trainer (probably great from what I've seen in passing), but the way he mishandled himself and did his best to make a scene speaks to his lack of leadership skills. On the plus side, there is a female manager there who did a great job of diffusing the situation. I'll maintain my membership with Pulse because it IS a great gym and all but one of the staff are fabulous! read more

Excellent facility. Very clean and well maintained. Excellent staff, they even offer a friendly hello when you come in. A variety of classes are offered accommodating all levels of fitness including senior citizens, (like me). It has a huge variety of workout equipment. It appears that my review has been removed I have been going to Pulse for 13 years, I think the new owners have done a great job, my only complaint is that appears to have become politicized, I have asked 3 times to have another news channel on 1 of the 4 TV screens other than fox, when I come back it is always only fox news, I pay the same dues as everyone else, I don't like feeling discriminated against in this area, I should not have to feel this way in a gym. read more

Pretty great for a local gym. Has that small town vibe where the staff learns your name & they have all the fun toys that CrossFit carries. Classes are part of the membership fee. Some of the equipment is a bit rough, but they are gradually replacing items. But between the kettlebells, sled, ropes & big tires you can do a full body workout without paying the 3 figure price. Also- Andrea's Friday yoga class is hands down legit. She provides a great full body stretch with plenty of chatarangas & vinyasas. Plus you can check out all the offerings with a free trial membership. read more

Absolutely love my gym!!! The machines are old but work great! There are spray bottles for wiping the machines down (I like to wipe before and after my workouts). The one thing I'd say is maybe switch to paper towels to wipe down the machines. The towels are probably infested with nasty germs from the repetitive use. Kind of freaks me out a bit. There's a sauna in the women's locker. Could definitely use some updating but works great! It would be nice to have the sauna let out some kind of essential oil. It's also a bit grungy inside as it's pretty old (I remember this thing being here 10 years ago-no updates to it). Does the job though. Lastly, the shower curtains tend to fly in the wind when showering. Take into consideration that some may feel more comfortable than others letting their bodies be seen naked. I am not. Lol! Other than the things that I've mentioned, I love this gym! I wouldn't get a membership anywhere else. Oh, the 24hour access is bomb!! Don't try to sneak anyone in, they check the cameras in the morning and you will get fined! Id highly recommend getting a membership here. read more

They could do a better job requiring masks. I just had to walk out since 2 big men were lifting weights without masks. They were gasping. Some of us are older and high risk and we expect a safe clean work out with cdc guidelines. Other than allowing maskless di*cks, the facility is good. read more

This gym has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, it is a huge petri dish. The facility is disgusting. One day, I took a shower and noticed a glob of hair on the floor, no biggie, but when the same glob of hair is still there 3 days later, there's a problem. Another time, I used the sauna, and looked down below the grates and saw trash, debris, dirt, and who knows what else caked to the floor. Those are only two examples. If they were a bit cleaner, I'd consider joining again. I've been to this gym off and on for 15 years. I've watched it go through different hands, and I've never seen it this bad. The two stars are for equipment, which they have a lot of. I'll be going to the community center until this place gets a little more serious about cleanliness. read more

Pulse Fitness had an awesome weeklong pass, amazing facilities and very friendly staff and members, which really saved the week for our family of "fitness junkies". I recently moved to the area and joined Pulse, and it has quickly become my favorite place. The staff is so personable and friendly, especially Steve, the gym manager. The gym floor and locker rooms are always clean. The staff is quick to address any issues. They are currently doing renovations which look great, without interfering with the functionality of the gym. I haven't tried the classes yet, but they seem to be very popular and look like a lot of fun. AND they play a good variety of music! Last but not least- it's affordable! So glad I joined this gym. read more

I may give Pulse Fitness 4 stars, but I'm really not all that impressed with this gym. If I had my way, I wouldn't come here. Yes, all the machines are in general working order and maintenance signs don't linger for too long, but they're not the greatest cardio machines and they seem to be swiftly edging towards being verified as antiques. On more than one occasion I've felt like their treadmills might break beneath my feet due to how loud my running was. Thankfully they have some new treadmills which can handle my high speeds without deafening fellow workout-ers with my footfalls. Also, it's weird to me to get on a cardio machine that faces a wall and makes me feel distinctly like a hamster running on a wheel. I think it would be great if Pulse would rearrange the room so that the machines face the windows outside. Although they have a mirror against the wall, which helps to make you feel like the room is more open, it's just not enough. The weight machines are okay. They're all in working order and there are plenty of them so you're never waiting in line. But I do wish they had more machines for strengthening the legs. There seems like there are a ton of options for the upper body but so few for the lower body. Atmosphere is less than good, in my opinion. The music is usually lame and I don't ever feel like it energizes me. My parents have come to this gym for years and they've always hated the music. Not that this is the most important thing, but it does get on my nerves (and my parents). Plus, with so many of the members here being middle-aged or older, I can't help but think that the musical selection is inappropriate. Anything with a little bit more beats per minute (BPM) would be, uh, more energizing! So although I'm giving Pulse Fitness 4 stars, I really wish I could give 3. Unfortunately, there just aren't many gyms in Gardnerville/Minden, so this is probably one of the best available. read more

While on vacation in South Lake Tahoe I was looking for a gym with daycare. Unfortunately there aren't any on the mountain for little ones as young as mine (15 months old). Went there twice now with a day pass. It only cost me $10 each day and that included the 1.5hrs daycare each day. The sign in process as a guest is fuss free and no one pressures you to buy a membership. The gym is clean and had everything I needed. They even have a TRX in the back!!!!! The staff is friendly and they took good care of my little one and even remembered her name the second time I dropped her off. The kids club is a pretty simple carpeted room with toys but has no climbing structures or tunnels - still my toddler loved a change of scenery, the attentive staff and they new toys. I will definitely go back and highly recommend it. Good to know before you go: -bring your own lock -bring your own entertainment (no private TV screens on cardio machines) -bring your own towel read more
