Stumbled across crossfit and man!! Winner winner chicken dinner!! I'm seeing progress I never achieved on my own. The transformation from crossfit and these coaches is so encouraging and rewarding. Crossfit has finally made working out become a regular routine vs dreaded chore that phases out. New location! Same awesome coaches and workouts. The coaches Jeff & Bobby are great. They coach formal instructions and techniques in a relaxed, fun way. Each class is always a challenge but in an addicting way and not dreadful way. Although some can be dreadful but no pain, no gain ;) I enjoy the variety of workouts with the constant soreness and strengthening of muscles. Classes are an hour long but feels like 10min every time because of the variety of techniques and strength work packed into each class. I've never been the athletic type and the gym always intimidated me. But with crossfit I feel comfortable even with my physical level. Try something new and give it a shot!

In fact I actually look forward to each workout. It's fun, many varied, and I see results! When I say I see results, I am referring to my muscle tone as well as my physical capabilities. Progress becomes addicting. Jeff and Bobby are the owners/coaches and they are the coolest. They are probably the main reason I have been able to look forward coming in and enjoying working out. They are patient and quick to critique your form when it needs it so you get optimal performance. Not to mention they are just very easy going, decent guys. They know their stuff and you can't help but trust them because their directions give great results. I highly recommend Friction Crossfit. No matter what physical level you are at you will fit in and not feel intimidated. It's a good community here. Try it!

The instructors are nice and energetic. like the variety of workouts and the variety of exercises in the 30 min work out, like that it's only 30 (intense 30 but not longer), there's a nook for kids to sit if you have to bring kids, and they really get you in and out so you can go about your day or evening. After nearly 10 months, I find myself aiming to go at least 3 times a week, but if you are really into it you can multiple times a day or do a back to back workout (if you're crazy - lol). You see different ages and abilities, so you don't feel as intimidated as you would in other places with the same type of regimen. Worth trying if you want to shock your body and starting getting stronger.

This gym is perfect for what I need/look for: 1. 30 minute workouts are intense and great for my schedule. I love HIIT. 2. Coaches are friendly and remembered my name after 1 handshake! 3. It's clean and workout gear is in great condition. I'd recommend this gym to any regular layman or woman looking to get fit, maybe lose some weight, and enjoy doing it. Don't forget to wear/bring clean shoes. Also, a water bottle and towel (not needed, but I didn't see any offered). Also, they recommend you use the Coach Catalyst app, but I didn't have any room on my phone to download it, so I used it on Safari which worked out just fine.

My strength and self confidence have both grown tremendously since starting! The instructors are truly delightful people to spend time with. They are gifted in their ability to give directions in a way that is understood by different types of learners. They are well trained in safety/spotting technique- even as I have advanced to more complex moves, I have always felt and been safe. If you hate fun and impressing your friends with fancy looking pictures of you doing cool stuff... This is not for you.

You'll learn the basics at first (climbing, basic foot lock), and once capable they will move you up to the next class. Depending on your ability, you may move up classes quickly or, like me, repeat some classes until you gain enough strength to move up. For your safety only, you will be allowed to advance in classes as your physical ability will allow, and no sooner. They will tell you the truth! If you're afraid of heights, I still recommend it! The intro classes work either from the ground or 6 inches off the ground until you're strong enough to go up higher. I had very weak upper body or core when I started. I am now about 1 year into classes and have improved dramatically, can climb to the top, and do moves I never dreamed of. You will amaze yourself, which is probably the most fulfilling part of it all. If you're looking for a new adventure and open to a session, I highly recommend Aerial 4 Me.

I get a full body workout in 45 minutes in a group setting with the help of a trainer and tv monitors! It's clean, organized, judgement free and fun! So, I search Facebook events regularly for new *free* activities. One day, 2 summers ago, I came across an event for the F45 Grand Rapids grand opening. I'd never heard of this F45 thing before so I did some googling and found out that it's a workout concept originating from Australia and this would be the first franchise opening within a 3 hours' drive from us. My sisters and I decided to check it out and that Saturday morning, we got to the strip on 28th street where Michaels craft store used to be. The building was just being set up with mats, tv monitors and equipment - basic floor, walls and ceiling. We ran through several stations outdoors using free weights, ropes and yoga mats. Throughout the whole workout, trainers were encouraging us with, 'Nice work!', high fives and occasionally helping us modify lifts to target the correct muscle group. It was so much fun and by the end, I made up my mind to sign up for the 2 weeks of free, unlimited classes! Since that summer, I've been going to classes randomly with my friend Nicole who goes daily. They have a 20 class pass for $300. It's steep compared to gyms that offer memberships, but I have more of an incentive to actually attend these group workouts than I do if I were to hit the gym alone. Now that the place is established, they offer multiple classes from 530a-7p, 2 clean bathrooms, cubbies to stash your coats/keys, security cameras, and a welcoming environment. I've found that the Saturday morning classes fit my schedule the best and they offer 3 classes before 11am! It's such a great way to start my weekend and gives me time to recover before the work week begins again. I'm always sore after but it's a great feeling of accomplishment after I complete 2 rounds of 27 stations of heart pounding and sweat dripping workouts! Thanks Holly, Sam, Rusty and Ashley - you guys are awesome!
