I took advantage of the new student special ($49 for unlimited classes x 2 weeks) and had my 1-on-1 with Abigail. She worked with me to find a time for us to sit down in the studio and discuss my goals, worries, and any questions that I might have. My primary concern when looking for a place for group exercise is finding a non-judgmental space that values community and diversity. Having moved from LA, I feared being in a competitive/image conscious space that made me feel more ashamed than motivated. Before I found Breathe, I was seriously considering paying far more for private classes for this reason. I will say that Breathe surpassed this expectation with flying colors. I made sure to arrive about 15 minutes before class so that I could chat with the instructor and get a tour of the studio. I was pleasantly surprised by all of the different body types and backgrounds of people I saw attending class. Everyone seemed to know each other and it really felt like a close community to me. I specifically attended the Breathe + Restore class which was half vinyasa flow, half restorative body + mind work/meditation. This was perfect for my beginner level. When I arrived, my equipment was set up for me with a lovely placard with my name on it which really made me feel welcome. My instructor Harmony made sure to check in with me and her warm, welcoming energy definitely put me at ease. I never felt pressured to push myself beyond my current limits whereas in LA I was frequently scolded in class for not holding a position long enough. The meditative work is what really made this class shine for me and left me feeling so grateful for the experience. I am going to try a few different classes during my 2-week trial, but I am certain that I will be moving forward with a membership when it is done. Thank you so much Breathe!

He: Your membership only gives you access to the location you signed up at. Me: Oh, I didn't know that. I signed up online. He: But you are good to work out here today. You just might want to look over your membership. I think there's a level that gives you access to all. Me: Thanks! Jason was great! Polite and courteous and made me feel welcomed even though I didn't read the fine print...LOL! I would definitely be back if I change to the next level of membership. Again, it has a great layout!

A Truly Special Part of UFC GYM Kailua…read more I just wanted to take a moment to recognize Kavika, who works in the childcare at UFC GYM Kailua. This isn't about one specific interaction...it's about the way Kavika consistently shows up for the kids. Every time we come to the gym, he is so loving, caring, patient, and genuinely playful with them. He makes the childcare feel like a place where my kids are not just being watched, but are actually cared for and valued. My kids get excited to go to the gym because they get to see Kavika. They talk about him all the time! As a parent, there is no better feeling than knowing your children are with someone who genuinely enjoys being around them and makes them feel safe, happy, and welcomed. Kavika deserves to be recognized for the impact he has. The consistency, kindness, and positive energy he brings to the childcare absolutely does not go unnoticed. Employees like him are incredibly valuable, and I truly hope UFC GYM recognizes what a special person they have in him. I hope and pray they are able to keep Kavika around for a very long time, because people like him are hard to find. I signed my son up for one class for fielding workout. I went online to their website where there…read moreare all the classes with specific time slots. They only allow a certain number of students, so when that is filled they will close the class. You pay online and show up for your class. Parking is tricky since it is a small parking lot. There are a few customer stalls, but it is limited. When facing the warehouse it is in the far right inside corner. You must walk upstairs to the second floor (no elevator). There is a small waiting area for parents and the rest of the warehouse has Astro Turf and netting for practice. There's no check in desk, so you just come during your time and go see the coach. My son was having a bad day, so he missed the first 20 minutes of class. However, once he went and tried it, he ended up having a lot of fun. We have not had the opportunity to go back yet due to a busy winter season, but I am hoping to put him in some private lessons.
