I have been training here for almost three months now and am loving the atmosphere and vibe of the gym. Everyone is friendly and encouraging. I love the "no judgement" atmosphere. I've been to other gyms and disliked others "judging eyes" when attempting to add more weight. This community encourages your fitness growth. If you're new to CrossFit or coming back after a long break, this is the place to be! Coach Scott breaks down and shows the correct lifting form for the WOD to ensure safety before adding weight. They will also modify workouts to accommodate restrictions/prior injuries. The coaches here genuinely care about form. After trying other gyms , the atmosphere, community, coaches and variety of workouts don't compare. I've been looking for a new home gym closer to work for a while now, and am so glad I found this gem! If you're on the fence about trying a new gym, take the leap and come check MKG out! Updated review: Recently discontinued my membership for a few reasons: 1, since MKG recently moved to a new location where it separated martial arts and crossfit, the hours of open gym shortened significantly since they don't have a front desk personnel for the crossfit site. You have a few hours in the morning, and from 4:30-7:30pm to do open gym. 2, Since they cut back class times after they moved, there are more students per class which means less coaching per student. So if that's a big factor in why you wanted to join a CF gym, you might wanna think twice about signing up here. I did not try the morning classes so I can't say much about them but for the afternoon ones, they are definitely crowded. It's hard to get a good workout with limited space. However, the coaches here are great especially Scott. They care about your fitness journey and will guide you through it. The cancelation process was somewhat time-efficient and wasn't much of a pain. I wish they have a bigger facility and better hours. read more

I've been CrossFitting on and off since 2011 and have been a member at four boxes in San Francisco and Seattle. (I only left one because it wasn't a good fit, I've just moved a lot.) After a move to Maple Leaf in December I found Crossfit@MKG and signed up for On Ramp in January to brush up on my skills. It's only been two months but I'm hooked. Being the new person has never been less awkward with how friendly the staff, coaches, and my fellow CrossFitters are. The coaches are great and push me but never in a bad way. There are tons of class times to choose from and the class sizes are never too unmanageable for the coaches to provide one-on-one assistance. The programming is fantastic as well, with a good mix of skill and strength work along with the WODs. I don't happen to take advantage of the Martial Arts offerings, but many of my classmates do. The gym offers tons of seminars and CrossFit events as well that you can participate in if you choose. I see myself being a member for quite some time to come. read more

I love this place. I had been hearing a lot about CrossFit, and mostly just thought it sounded way too hard for ME to do, the weakling that I am. But the deal on yelp finally peaked my interest enough to call for a little more info. Coach Steph gave me a tour and explained how it worked, and I signed up for the OnRamp program, thinking I could at least try it! It was the best thing I've ever done for myself. I ended up joining CrossFit on the unlimited plan, I've been going three times a week since then, and it is HARD, but never too hard since it is completely scalable. There is really nothing like the sense of accomplishment after you successfully finish a really intense workout. And these people, they are so great. The coaches are awesome and always ready to help you. Everyone there is on your team. You're being held accountable, and being encouraged the entire time. I only regret not starting sooner; I have been at it for about a month, and have never felt better about myself. If you're on the fence, just go check it out. You'll like it :) read more

This is a great community of fitness in North Seattle and I love how much the members help support and push you through hard workouts to get the best results. The Barbell Club is my main reason for attending this box. The coaching exceeds expectations and really focuses on form & safety, they always scale to your capabilities. Not the best space or equipment available, but the coaching and community make up for all of that. You still get results and I look forward to going daily to workout & sweat with these great people. read more

CrossFit @ MKG is an awesome box to train at. I've been training here since it opened and I love it. My strength and skill level has vastly improved with the help of the coaching staff who are attentive, knowledgeable, and play good music. You don't have to be a weight lifter or an elite athlete to train here. There is no shame in scaling a workout at this box so I always feel safe when lifting. I compete with myself each WOD, but I also have other athletes of all fitness levels and abilities to both push me and encourage me. Those who finish a WOD first are always cheering on the others who are still working, which makes for a fun environment. read more

I started coming here two years ago after my husband did a Groupon to try it out. We both love the space and the community. The coaches are fantastic, and I have gotten so much stronger under their guidance. The workouts are intense, but the vibe is more supportive than competitive. There is a ton of diversity in what we do, so it never gets boring. I have 3 young kids (ages 2, 4, and 6) and they all enjoy the on-site childcare which is super affordable ($30/mo for unlimited care for all three of them!). I would 100% recommend this place to people of any fitness levels! read more

This is my happy place! I've been coming regularly for over a year now and I'm hooked. As a former swimmer, pretty much everything in crossfit had a high learning curve for me. There's a lot of focus on teaching us to do the movements correctly and safely. They modify the workout as needed for each member. It's not the fanciest or biggest gym you'll find, but what keeps me coming back is the good programming, coaching, and nice members. I don't feel intimidated here (easy to feel when starting crossfit) and I love working hard every time I attend class. My daughter also does martial arts here and loves it-- great for us because we can both work out at the same time and the same place! read more

I've been a member for almost 3 years and have really grown to love the community of coaches and classmates. All of the coaches are fantastic, giving each student the time and attention needed to be a successful athlete. Safety is stressed, which I appreciate, and each workout is encouraged to be modified to reflect your current fitness level. I feel like all of the coaches are invested in ensuring that I reach my goals. The Olympic Weightlifting program has really been critical in improving my fitness and skill level. The coach has a high level of expertise and I really enjoy the programming. I've attended many different gyms and this has definitely been my best experience! read more

Not sure how anybody could get injured here, as this is the most careful and conscientious box around. Good form is stressed by all trainers. There is zero meathead mentality, and they are all about you doing what YOU can do. I have been coming here almost 3 years and have never felt judged for lifting less or substituting something. Always plenty of scaling options to choose from (including making it harder!), and these are clearly communicated. After a failed attempt at another Crossfit gym in the North Seattle area (I got injured and could hardly move for weeks!), I decided to give Crossfit another chance. I had very limited weightlifting experience and didn't really know much about Crossfit, so I was looking for a coach that would be supportive and that would motivate me to get stronger, while keeping me safe and injury free. Well, lucky for me for finding Coach Steph at MKG! She started me off on the On Ramp program, and from the start she always made sure that I was doing the workouts correctly and safely. And when the workouts got more challenging, she always kept them fun and helped me set some great fitness goals for myself. The times the workouts are offered are flexible and they've even added more times to accommodate people's schedules. Also, the gym is spacious and is kept very clean and organized. It has now been about five months and I couldn't be happier about my decision to join Crossfit @ MKG! Coach Steph and Coach Tammy have pushed my limits and I've seen great progress in my fitness level. If you are even thinking about it, give MKG a try!!! The trainers here are professional and fun. This place is great. I was fairly new at Crossfit and they made sure to take their time to check my form and everyone else's so that we didn't get injured. They have everything you need. This place is located inside a huge martial arts building so if you get adventurous you could give some of those classes a try. read more

Awesome group of people, great community. I also attend the MKG school. Unbeatable place. So much space and equipment. Really has a family feel. Tammy, the owner is a awesome fun person. I recommend trying it out. This CF does a strength portion before most classes. There is also a barbell club so you can work on that lifting‍ form. read more
