As a formal worker at Montgomery IL Planet Fitness, I have to say it is hands down the worst place…read moreto work. I was hired as a manager, but instead of managing, I found myself stuck at the front desk just in case someone walked in. If you work there, no matter your title, you end up doing everything. I wasn't treated like a manager--I was basically the stock boy, filling coolers with protein and water that hardly anyone buys because they're outdated. On top of that, I was made to play janitor, cleaning the bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers. When I was on the gym floor, I became the "weight boy," constantly picking up all the weights scattered everywhere and putting them back. And when the tanning beds were done being used, guess who had to clean those too? The absolute worst part? They have us cleaning under the cardio machines while members are waiting to use them. How do they expect anyone to be productive or feel respected in a job like that? Planet Fitness treats their employees like disposable workers, and it's beyond frustrating. It's absolutely infuriating how Planet Fitness handles the whole Saturday night closing cleanup--why on earth don't they just hire a cleaning crew to do it? Instead, they choose to make their employees slave away after hours like it's some kind of unfair punishment. It's beyond disrespectful. And as for the owners, it's clear they're completely out of touch with reality. No wonder women are treated poorly and real men are being pushed out of the gym altogether. The place feels like it's lost all sense of respect and fairness. Then there's the Annual High School Summer Pass™ program from June 1 to August 31--what a nightmare! The gym turns into a chaotic mess with unruly kids doing whatever they want, glued to their phones, completely ignoring any gym etiquette. And guess what? Planet Fitness gets government subsidies for this so-called community outreach, which basically means they don't give a damn about the paying members. Your concerns? They couldn't care less. It's maddening to see loyalty and respect thrown out the window just because they can cash in on subsidies and ignore the needs of their real customers. This whole situation is a disgrace. I can't believe we're actually told to force members to give 5-star reviews or else risk losing our jobs. This was the last straw for me. I work at a real gym, not some fake place playing dirty tricks. I'm done--glad to never step foot in that gym again. It's ridiculous and completely unfair to employees and members alike. This kind of pressure is just wrong. When there's trouble in the gym, we can call the police for help. However, we cannot share any member information with them. Member privacy is always protected. And the trouble maker gets away with it this is not just some casual policy; they just done care about your needs Dave

I've noticed broken tiles at the entrance and other safety issues that no one seems to be addressing. The equipment is outdated, and the tanning booths are practically useless. There are several things on my list of "I don't do's"…read more I don't eat cherry-flavored gummy bears I don't wear sandals with socks I don't run unless I'm being chased (and even then, I'd rather hide) and I don't work out Cue Weight Watchers, Groupon, and Center Fit, where *shocker* I found something awesome. As a WW member, it's been a while since I've really needed to start working out, but it's pretty tough. Even the Wii Fit hurts my bod--thank you to years of cheerleading and injuries for my arthritis and loosey goosey ligaments/tendons (yes, that IS the technical term that the orthopedic surgeon provided me with). So I watch Groupon for fitness deals, because I'm a deal hound like that. One day, I see a deal for True Health Studio. "Hmmm" I say to myself...let's see, shall we? Zumba? Fun! Kettlebells? COOL! Sledge hammers and giant tires? HELL YES! But wait...I can't do any of that...It will hurt. *sad face* Restoring movement? Now we're talking. Two weeks in and I'm hooked. Steve runs the class as a group personal training, where routines are personalized for each individual in a small group setting. His knowledge of the body and how we move is phenomenal. Rock. On. No pain, no gain? Not in this class. The goal is not to push too far, but to go just far enough to move more the next day. After day one, I was still a little sore, but I wasn't in pain and I was excited to return. I leave each session with a smile on my face knowing that my body is getting stronger and that one day I WILL get to play with sledge hammers and kettlebells.

We stumbled upon MPG through a google search before leaving San Diego for Plainfield. We called to inquire about day passes, and we were pleasantly surprised to find out they're only $10! After looking through pictures and seeing high praise in Yelp, we were in. We went for the first time today with free week passes I got from my parents. Unfortunately they weren't valid, but we were still able to get a week pass for $15! Even though we might only make it one more time, it still is a way better deal. The gym itself is better than what I expected. Plenty of machines and free weights, two deadlift platforms, a few racks, and a lot of machines I've only seen on IG but have been dying to use. There's also a huge section in the back for tire flipping or other functional training like rope climbing. It's also pretty impressive that they offer cryotherapy in the front of the house. Overall, this is a great gym. If I lived here I would definitely make this my regular gym, but alas I will just have to make it my spot for when I visit home. Thanks MPG!

However, over time, I feel the facility has gradually lost some of its "premium" feel due to a number of recurring operational issues. There appear to be several systemic problems that impact the overall member experience: Studio and Class Technology Frequent issues with audio equipment in class studios. Microphones often do not work or batteries are not charged. Classes are routinely delayed due to technical problems, which is frustrating during a 45-minute session. Locker Room Maintenance Inconsistent availability of hand towels. Non-working TVs. Only one functioning hair dryer. A general lack of attention to detail that affects the experience. Towel Service One of the most noticeable changes has been the reduction in towel availability during workouts. In the past, towels were consistently stocked and accessible throughout workouts. That service level contributed significantly to the premium experience and convenience. Trainer Support The trainers themselves are strong and professional, but they seem to lack adequate support from management, particularly regarding equipment reliability and coverage when someone is out. As a long-time member, I share this feedback because I'd like to see the HealthPlex return to the level of operational excellence that originally set it apart. Many of these issues seem solvable with stronger oversight, maintenance consistency, and attention to detail.
