New to the area and needed to immediately find a vet for my dog after he broke his dewclaw. I found this place on yelp and it was right down the street. They set me up for an appointment the very next day. Everyone here was extremely friendly and approachable. I have trust issues with vets because of previous misdiagnosis and extremely unnecessary and pushy services. That was not at all the case here. The veterinarian was very kind and reasonable. He noted previous conditions with my dog but also wasn't overly pushy and gloomy about his prognosis. And although his current injury could have warranted surgery, the vet immediately opted for a quick nail trim, treatment and bandage with medication. Sure, my dog wasn't happy while they were cleaning up his nail, but the recovery will be far easier on him and my wallet doesn't need to take a huge hit. This is the kind of honest and reasonable service that I have been hoping to find in a vet, but has felt impossible thus far. I'm so glad I found this place. To top it off, the price for all the care they provided was very affordable. And they wrapped up my dog's injury with an adorable turtle-print bandage. He looks so cute with his new cast. LOL :-)

We have just transferred the care of our dogs to CROSSROADS about 6 weeks ago after our previous vet sold their practice with some disappointing results. Each of my dogs had a checkup & booster shots here at CROSSROADS since the transfer. While I was out of town one of my pups had a nasty encounter with what is assumed to be a Bee. My sons whom were house/dog sitting came home from work to find my Willow very swollen, listless with semi labored breathing...they took her to the emergency vet for initial diagnosis & treatment. They were advised to follow up with her primary Veterinarian the next morning. My boys brought her in to CROSSROADS as advised the next morning, there was no delay, CROSSROADS was able to immediately see Willow & confirm the diagnosis & offer information & a plan of medication & care for her. DR. SIDHU was not only wonderful with my Willow but was also extremely kind & caring to my understandably panicked sons...he calmed their anxiety & assured them of Willows full recovery while fully explaining what to expect & how to care for her...what a relief to know that when I'm out of town not only do my sons know how to handle an emergency but also have a great support staff & Veterinarians to help them. Thanks so much for taking care of my Willow & my sons!!

How are they handling COVID? We're going to switch our long time vet because they are not following protocol. No curbside visit, no gloves, no masks, not even the doc. That concerned us enough to switch. Crossroads Animal Hospital gets 5 stars.

He also made sure that we had resources available and wrote them down for us along with a list of tasks to follow up on. He has such great bedside manners, I wish our doctors had such manners and dedicated as much time as Dr. Cuetara did with our puppies. Dr. Tavano who is the medical director & reproduction specialist came and introduced herself, spent time with us answering questions and giving us advice on getting a good start with our Breeding Program. She is perfect for us because she believes in responsible breeding to make sure dogs are healthy and with good temperament so they don't end up in shelters, etc. Staff: Theresa has been amazing at helping us out from our first phone call. She endured that we got vet records uploaded for our 1st appointment, called and texted to confirm our appointment. Mariah was our vet tech, she was helpful, loving and patient with our pups. Made sure everything got done right in the room. Emma, Dr. Tavano's assistant is knowledgeable about breeding, testing, dog showing, resources and very helpful. Losing a pet is never easy…read more In a vulnerable time when the situation is urgent, emotions are running high and immediate decisions need to be made, all you want for your animal is expert care and compassion. Dr. Hodapp and the staff at Folsom Ranch provided both as I said goodbye to a kitty I was blessed to have in my life for over thirteen years. Shortly after that horrible day, I received a thoughtful card with lovely handwritten messages from each and every staffmember. This kindness really helped. I wouldn't hesitate to come back if my pet needs urgent care.

We were specifically looking for a reliable veterinarian closer to home because our prior vet in Placerville had become too far to drive for his ongoing medical needs. At the visit, my husband and daughter explained that his seizures were not controlled on Keppra and phenobarbital. He was having daily tonic-clonic seizures, along with frequent focal seizure activity. Dr. Sewell drew laboratory work and told us she would call with the results and recommendations regarding his medication. That call never came. We had to call multiple times just to get his seizure medications refilled. Even after those repeated calls, only the Keppra was filled. The phenobarbital was not. We ultimately had to contact our original veterinarian in Placerville to get the phenobarbital prescription filled, which completely defeated the purpose of establishing care with a local clinic. We have still not received a return call after two weeks of waiting from Dr. Sewell, a copy of his laboratory results, or a treatment plan. Meanwhile, our cat continues to have tonic-clonic seizures. We were told Dr. Sewell was "just filling in," but that does not excuse the lack of follow-up for an animal with an active and uncontrolled seizure disorder. We came to this clinic because we needed dependable local care. Instead, we were left repeatedly calling for help and then forced to drive back to our previous veterinarian to obtain an essential medication. This level of communication and follow-up is unacceptable. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this clinic for an animal with serious or ongoing medical needs.

Unfortunately yesterday everything was going fine until he had a bowel movement, shortly after he started to whine, cry and show signs of severe uncomfortableness, lethargy, it was gut wrenching to see this tiny helpless thing I already love so much be so uncomfortable. I called the vet we are meant to see and they could not fit us in but recommended veterinary urgent care and Surgery in Cameron Park. I immediately just started driving there scared for my puppies well-being. While driving I called and they were able to get me an appointment right away, basically the time it took for me to drive there. They tested us from the car for parvo (thank god is was negative) so we were brought into a room. The vet tech was extremely nice, thorough, endearing, empathetic (as I was a blubbering mess worried about my tiny 4lbs puppy) she got her report ready and brought the dr in. He was even kind and empathetic to my worry and concern. We went over everything. From the day I got him to what possibilities it could be. They gave me options, information and we picked a treatment plan after an exam of my puppy. I was sent home with medications, directions and feeling so much relief that they cared for my dogs wellbeing and how I felt as an owner. Upon leaving and check out and the girls at the front came together to chat with us, and say goodbye. We talked a little about how cute he is his breed type and then reassured us to call if we need anything or have any questions. I will absolutely be a returning customer should an emergency come up again. Completely unrelated but when I went to grab my dog from the techs arms after they took him in back to give him a couple shots I could smell her subtle perfume(it smelt amazing) as we had to be shoulder to shoulder. I politely asked her what it was and she told me. Not vet related but something small / important to me. This small kind interactions made me feel like a real person to them instead of a ticket number.

Unfortunately, the quality of care he provides is overshadowed by an extremely rude and unprofessional front office staff. For about a month we left messages roughly once a week regarding scheduling our Golden Retriever for a spay procedure and never received a call back. Eventually we were told Dr. Khurmi had been on vacation, and suddenly we were able to schedule the surgery. It would have been helpful if that had been communicated earlier, but at that point we were simply happy to finally get the appointment. We chose the laparoscopic option because we had read it could be less traumatic and allow for an easier recovery. We were given a price range, and when we dropped our dog off we paid $1,783.94, which was the lower end of the estimate. When we picked her up, we were told we owed an additional $116.06. The amount itself was no big deal to us. We had already agreed to a cost range and were fully prepared to pay within that range. Out of simple curiosity, we asked what caused the final cost to land at the higher end. The vet tech immediately became defensive and spoke to us in a condescending tone in front of other clients, repeatedly stating that we had agreed to a range rather than simply explaining the difference. We never received a clear answer. While waiting, there were also other clients ahead of us who appeared surprised by additional charges at checkout, so it did not seem like an isolated situation. The discharge process was also rushed. The vet tech briefly went over the medication but did not clearly review the rest of the post-operative instructions before sending us home with a printed sheet. Nearly two weeks later the stitches are still clearly visible, so we called the office today to confirm whether they were dissolvable or needed to be removed. I had made a mental note that the instructions mentioned something about sutures being removed around 14 days, as we are approaching that timeframe and I wanted to get them taken out. When I explained that this had not been discussed with us, the staff member responded in a very abrasive tone, repeatedly insisting that we had been sent home with an instruction sheet rather than simply addressing the question. After requesting the clinical summary earlier to understand the final invoice, I reviewed it again and it actually states "sutures out in 14 days," which contradicts what we were told on the phone today. As a client and not a veterinarian, I should not have to interpret clinical notes to understand basic post-operative instructions. Clear and consistent guidance is important when you are caring for a pet recovering from surgery. I have since emailed the clinic asking for clarification and am still waiting for confirmation on whether the sutures are dissolvable or need to be removed. Based on our experience, the front office staff and vet techs could benefit from additional training in client communication and customer service. Pet owners should feel comfortable asking questions without being spoken to in a defensive or dismissive tone. After reviewing other client feedback and the responses from this business, there appears to be a pattern of defensiveness rather than accountability. Hopefully this situation will be handled differently, but based on those responses I would not be surprised if the reply focuses on defending the clinic rather than addressing the concerns raised. When you trust someone with your pet's surgery, professionalism and clear communication should be the standard, not something clients have to fight for.
