My little girl does not like the vet at all, I'm talking. We are on hands and knees with her for near an hour just to get her into a room. I am astounded to say that was not the case at Parkway veterinary Hospital. Not only was she almost immediately trusting of the staff, but she got on the scale without needing to be picked up. While that may not seem like a huge people deal for many people, our little girl has a very rough past and does not trust easy- so that little gesture from her was huge. We came in because something had been bothering her in her ear, our regular go to spot didn't have a doctor on site until after 10 , so we started looking for other options. I have had one other experience similar to this before and I think we were both a little traumatized because she needed to be under an anesthetic to have the item removed from her ear. This was because it was so deep and because she was so distrustful with the doctor. In this scenario, Dr. Kodimeria used a muzzle instead -just for safety ( she was so gentle about it) and had us help keep her calm while she thoroughly checked both ears and removed everything that was stuck! It was such a quick procedure, and when I tell you that our girl had no issue with it, I am still bewildered. They also trimmed her nails, which is a miracle on its own that she allowed that. We were so happy with this experience that we switched over to scheduling all of our regular care here. Our dogs know good people when they meet them- that's why we didn't have to make the choice to switch to Parkway veterinary Hospital. Our sweet girl made that choice for us. My five year old cat had this ongoing vomiting issue for the past 2 years. He also has bad anxiety when leaving the house. We have tried everything to make the vomiting and panic shaking stop; even going to different hospitals. Those hospitals kept giving me medication that wasn't solving the problem. Do not come here. Brought our kitten for a first appointment. Immediately tried to tell us we needed to use the Hills "science diet" that they get paid to push by the company. They gave her vaccines and looked at her teeth saying she had gingivitis because of the high quality food we have been giving her for 1 week. Also said that wet food is bad for cats. They only want to push their shitty diet onto you that is bad for your animal so that you have to bring it back. Then they tried to rob us by charging 150$ for flea and tick medicine you can get at any pet store for 30$. Godawful excuse of a business that is supposed to care for your animal. read more

I just wanted to share my experience with a new Vet office I went to for my people in Sacramento surrounding areas or anyonewho wont mind driving for a great veterinarian. Sorry in advance for the long post After calling around and going to 3 different veterinarian offices to make sure I had my frenchie covered who was due to have a litter any day, I ran across Dr. Kodimerla at Parkway Veterinary Hospital and let me just say it was the best experience ever. She was very kind, patient, and most of all willing to hold my dog the full work day if her Reverse PG Test was low but not quite there yet. The other two vets said they would test her, then give her back and let us know rather to bring her back or not in 1.5hrs. After driving 40min to Folsom from Sacramento I was seen right away after getting there at about 10am no $70 first time patient office exam fee and her charge for my Reverse PG was under $100 which is $150 less than what I was quoted with the two other vets. She took the test let me know my girl was ready (she was at a 1 in her PG test) and if I wanted the c section she could do it right away AFTER doing blood work to make sure my dogs health was ok. Meaning no underlying issued that could cause complications during the surgery and that I could wait in the office or come back in about 2hrs none of that drop your dog off at 8am and pick them up at 3pm if their ready nonsense if I wanted to do the surgery. She did a great job on the c section! Made sure pups were good and had first latch on mom, made sure mom was woke cleaned off and alert before we took her home, no outside switching showing or hanging out from the surgery, no bleeding after 8hrs just a smooth transaction. Not to mention everything done: Reverse PG, Blood Work, After Meds, Paid Meds, and C Section for a very affordable and comPETitive price! If you need a good vet for your dogs' c section/reproduction needs or just in general great all-around vet look no further! My friend and I came here for a behavioral euthanasia today. The doctor was condescending while my friend was explaining that the euthanasia was her last option as her dog had a bite history and history of aggression. The doctor continued like this until the dog growled at her when attempting to muzzle, then suddenly agreed with euthanizing. The doctor relayed to us several times that she was stressed because the dog was aggressive and asked us how we expected her to place a catheter. My friend had to form a game plan while mourning her pet so the doctor could carry out the euth. WHILE pushing the euthanasia meds through his system, the doctor told my friend to give her card to the tech for payment. So while her pet was actively dying, she had to stop and grab her purse for payment. They also allowed all of this to happen on the cold, dirty floor without a blanket or anything for him to take his final rest. Euthanasia is never easy, and with both my friend and I having veterinary medicine backgrounds, we understand the positions of the staff at this facility. But with our backgrounds, we also know what a euthanasia experience should be like for the owner. Expressing to the mourning owner that you are stressed several times is NOT appropriate. Asking the client for handling advice is NOT appropriate. Asking for payment DURING the euthanasia is NOT appropriate. While I cannot speak for their handling of healthy pets, I would not recommend to bring your pets here to say goodbye. I am so incredibly sad that her pet had to go through this before he crossed the rainbow bridge. We came here only because after a consultation with a behavioral specialist, this place was on a list for nearby vet hospitals that perform behavioral euthanasia. He was so incredibly loved. Amazing vet clinic!! This place just opened and I cannot express my appreciation enough for how compassionate and friendly the staff is!! My puppy had a foxtail in his ear and the vet was extremely caring and professional and was able to remove it quickly! My dog was in need of urgent care after being boarded and Dr. Kodimerla was thankfully available the same day. After the care and availability I received for my dog's illness, I am likely going to leave my current vet of 20+ years because I can't ever get an appointment w/them when my dog has been (infrequently) ill. Our dog has allergies and when flared he will chew his feet raw sometimes. He's on maintenance meds (Cytopoint) and a prescription diet, but sometimes that's not enough. I noticed he was limping, had an open sore on his rear pad with drainage and our vet was unable to offer an appt until next week (7 days out). I called Parkway and they got us in immediately! The vet was very interactive with our dog and kind. This is a new practice and they're building their clientele, so they have more availability at this time. After multiple (unsuccessful) attempts to get our dog in for care with our previous vet we are changing to Parkway Veterinary for his routine care in the future. I'm grateful they saw us today rather than essentially forcing us to see an emergency vet bc I know this foot infection would not have made it an additional week without antibiotics on board. I recently moved to the area and was in desperate need of a vet to address a large abscess on my dogs neck. A neighbor who is also a vet, but whose practice is not accepting new patients, recommended Parkway Vet Hospital. Dr Kodi was a wonderful find. She was gentle with my dog and took the time to follow up a couple of times after his surgery to see how he was doing, which I have found to be rare in the medical profession.
