A great gem in a small town. We have a small get away in Stuart and I have been a frequent visitor…read moreof the Honduras Coffee Shop since I have been coming to Stuart. The restaurant is located on a nice little quant stretch of "uptown" Stuart with adequate parking on the street. Honduras makes all of their coffee drinks with their own fresh and flavorful coffee. It is great on its own however they can also make any drink you could think of. On the drink menu they also have a decent list of fruit smoothies, which I will definitely be trying once it warms up a little. On my most recent trip, I stopped in and had a quick lunch consisting of their gourmet grilled cheese and a steak and ale soup. I have had their grilled cheese before and it is excellent. You get your choice of breads as well as cheeses. I highly recommend the ciabatta bread no matter what cheese choice you make. They also add a blend of spices to the sandwich that put it over the top. The steak and ale soup I got, which seemed to be a special as others there were surprised it was on the menu, was also very good on a cool day. It was a little on the rich side for my tastes, but certainly was not bad and it was nice to see something different than the 3-4 soups you typically see on menus. If you are ever in Stuart, or just happen to be passing by, take the time to stop in and have cup of coffee in a great atmosphere in an interesting, small town.

(4.5 stars) Housed in a historical building, The Remedy has…read morecharm to spare. The high wooden bookshelves and designated reading tables give it literary cachet, but The Remedy leans more cozy than stuffy. There's plenty of seating inside and out, and this would be as good a place for a group as it would be for partaking solo. Part coffeeshop and part bar, The Remedy also offers baked goods, flatbreads and charcuterie alongside its coffees, teas, and cocktails. I passed on the food (it seemed overpriced), but the coffee left no room for complaint. I went with a marshmallow iced latte. It was prepared quickly, and it made for a smooth sip: not too sweet and no acidity. Winston-Salem has no shortage of places to grab a drink of the caffeinated or alcoholic varieties, but it's hard to beat the atmosphere that The Remedy has to offer.

I felt like I interrupted the gentlemen's conversation by trying to order and they were not very friendly. The veggie quiche was over $7 and kind of small. I was still hungry. It was good though. I'll add that I did not try the coffee (which apparently is a staple) There are so many OTHER breakfast and coffee spots in the city... I'll just say that.

Ordering in advance, yield me a completed order which was right on the counter near the door when I got in, so at least that saved me some time. I was able to get a bagel for breakfast and they do charge for butter, but it was so much butter that I will have leftover for several more bagels. Their house chai wasn't interesting subtle spice mix, and was available with alternative milks. The star of the show, though was a vegan peach crumble coffee cake, which was about as good as you could possibly imagine such a thing in being. It had a moistness and texture that you would never think would come with a vegan baked good and every bite delivered a delectable flavor mix. The menu will vary, of course, but they clearly have the ability to deliver some quality items for virtually anyone seeking a breakfast or lunch.

The s'mores latte is usually my go-to, though I've had several different drinks here and all have been great - hot or iced. They also have some really nice cafe food items that are nice for breakfast or lunch. We've had a number of their baked goods and have never been disappointed. We usually pick up several things to have at our rental for breakfasts and desserts. I've been often enough to make sure and get some of the seasonal options you can't always get. Their fall items are especially good. They've also got some cool merch and gift items. I've added a couple of pretty mugs to my coffee station here at home. The staff is always friendly and are very helpful with suggestions on drinks and food. If you haven't been in, you're really missing out.

My girlfriend's parent's have a house by Smith Mountain Lake, and she recommended SML. We were down there during the week around 4th of July 2024. We went the day before the 4th on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. In terms of the quality of drink & food, it's subpar, but staff was friendly & accommodating, which gets it from 2 to 3-stars for me. We went for lunch getting a turkey wrap & iced chai. Turkey wrap was decent, but it was kind of a small amount of meat & wrap overall. It came with chips. It wasn't that much food, but I didn't care too much as I was ok with a bit lighter. As for the iced chai, it was weak. It was mostly milk, not much of the flavoring. I told them to add more chai to it, which they did but it was kind of too late. They were nice and remade me a latte drink since I didn't like the chai. The latte was better, but not great either. My g/f agreed afterward that SML was weaker than she remembered. It's a cute place with a gift shop, nice staff, but drink especially was subpar.

There is so much they offer. As far as eating they have Breakfast (smoked salmon bagel!), hot if cold sandwiches (the Jezabel ham!), salads (green ones but I love chicken salad), specialty pizzas (Neapolitan Nod!), and charcuterie boards! Then there is an extensive selection of teas, espresso based drinks, and wines (white, red, or sparking). You can enjoy a glass or a bottle. I've been to my share of coffee shops where the espresso based drinks either tasted burned or were so sugary you feel a diabetic coma upcoming. Not so here. Theirs are perfection with perfect balance of strong and sweet if you like flavors. Then there's a rotating bit of seasonal syrups and house-curated drink options. My favorite is the atmosphere. Couches and comfy large armed chairs, great art, tables outside, what's not to love? The owners take such pride in their shop. They keep it clean, always have a smile and kind word, and make sure their staff has that same spirit. This places puts the best out there for Danville.
