It really would depend on the kind of day they are having. Place is like a maze at 1st but once you get oriented you can make your way around just fine. Lots of cool little nooks and rooms to make the place feel special. My personal favorite is the garden room. The staff are usually very personable, thoughtful and very friendly. The number of times I've been here it seems like my friends and family are well taken care of. I don't go daily so I cannot attest to the daily regiment of eating, moving and cleanliness. No desire to ever go back, it's just not a place that gives me 'good memories' of my friends but the facility takes care of the needs of others so there's that...

From my own experience and reading assorted articles related to drug abuses, medicare fraud, and malnourishing patients I've decided never to allow a hospice group to be involved with me. They now have opened Hospice care centers which are nothing more than re-branding nursing homes, which now also call themselves health campus's. Their MO seems to be: 1. Sign Up Patients to get paid 2. Perform unnecessary medical procedures catheters etc.... 3. Deny Patients Food and water (starve and dehydrate them) 4. Over medicate using Morphine, Ativan, Holdol, etc... increasing the dosages until the patient is comatose and dies. Now feel free to disagree and have your own opinions, but this has been my experience as an investigator and in three separate cases so as family and friends remember to advocate for your loved ones and don't just hand them over to strangers for care. It's important to stand firm, demand answers and don't accept lip service. Many times families become fragmented because some members choose the easy path of handing the afflicted over to strangers and walking away, that's when it's even more important to stay strong and never allow a patient to be abused in any way, even if your the only one advocating. Most nursing homes, hospice care centers, health campus' wear masks and the public see's only what they want the public to see. Unfortunately as long as the family members can feel all warm and fuzzy about their decision to abandon their loved ones "in good hands" their ok with that. Nursing homes fear most strong patient advocates, and also law suits, not a fan but do what you have to to protect loved ones when nothing else works and always keep them home.

Gentiva Hospice has the greatest staff! The nurses that come out for nurse visits are caring,…read morefriendly, and gentle with my mother inlaw. They are so helpful with advice with how to care for her. They also make sure we are stocked with supplies. The bath aides are simply wonderful. The office staff are pleasant and knowledgeable. I love my weekly tuck in call to ask if we need anything. We appreciate all these incredible people supporting us in our journey. Our family is so grateful for their services.

I am not usually one to leave reviews. However, I don't want this company to cause any more…read moreunnecessary stress to another family during an already difficult time. Our family hired this company for palliative care to help out after moving my grandmother into an assisted living community. They made everything sound so great and helpful. They made sure to tell us how they would keep in touch with the family regularly - and do all the things you would expect from a professional palliative care team. Nurses were never calling us to give updates. They wouldn't even return calls. I don't feel like the staff is well trained and I'm confident that this company is not run properly. They don't even follow their own policies. They don't follow through with things they say they'll do. And they seem to have no interest in discussing options with the family. Recently, we received a call from one of the nurses telling us that my grandmother couldn't swallow her water; that she was now at the point where she would not be given anymore liquids or food, and "that this is how the end stage goes". The following morning, we went to visit and sit with my grandmother. This is when we found out that our Nana was thirsty. She was asking for water and the staff at the assisted living facility "wasn't allowed to let her have even a sip". They said that Dr. Wen had ordered that she's not allowed anything by mouth. She had been up and even had a shower already that morning. She was having coherent conversations with the physical therapist and others who work at the facility. None of them understood why Nana wasn't allowed to have liquid and soft food. They had even ordered that she was to be taken off all her meds - except for pain medicine. The night before she was not allowed to receive any pain medicine. These were orders sent by Gentiva. I tried to call Gentiva to find out what was going on and why they weren't letting her drink - even though she was asking for water. I used the only cell number we had to contact their nurses. One nurse we knew had quit working for the company a year ago. She wasn't comfortable with the way it was being managed/ She is now working for a different hospice. Later in the day, a nurse from Gentiva tried backtracking; saying that they had changed the orders that morning so Nana could have food and liquid. They also said that they had ordered a chest X-ray. This was completely untrue! If they had changed the orders, it's obvious, they needed to let the facility know that. The chest X-ray never happened. We were there all day and there was never an order for an X-ray. It was so bad that even staff members at the assisted living facility were in tears. Nobody understood why the nurse (Brook) from the night before and Dr Wen had decided Nana wasn't allowed to have anything. They were also furious. It was clear that this wasn't the first time these problems had come up with Gentiva. We all agreed that this "care" was unacceptable. We immediately fired them. On a more positive note, the new palliative care company is already taking care of things that should have been taken care of long ago. Since I have to give this company just one star, I'm giving that star to pastor Jay. He is the only bright spot from this horrible company. He would visit with Nana every week and he would call to say how the visit went and how she was doing. I also find it interesting that they're changing the name to Gentiva now (it had been called Kindred Hospice). My guess for that change is because Kindred Hospice has gotten a horrible reputation in the last year. It also gets a D- rating from the Better Business Bureau Unfortunately, a new name doesn't change the uncaring way they deal with their patients. It doesn't change the way they ignore the family, and it doesn't change the lies they tell while they're desperately trying to protect themselves. Please look into another service for your loved ones.

My parents were "fired" by this agency with a letter that had very little real content as to why they were no longer able to be clients. My 87 year old parents were told they had two weeks to get replacement care, but in reality it was nine days by the time we received the letter. As a result, we were left frantically scrambling to find replacement caregivers to deal with my mother who is completely immobile. There was never a warning, conversation, or suggestion as to how we could improve the situation. As a resident of Centerville, Ohio, I will certainly never recommend this agency to others looking for home health care.

I met one of the co-owners a year back, so we called them. They sent over a Care Manager, who asked lots of questions to make certain they could help. ...Despite the short notice and short term, they sent over 4 care givers for the 5 days to watch over me from 3-10 PM, my potentially most dangerous times. J,E,A & K were not just professional, but delightful people to visit with. ...Sure enough, the day before my wife was due home, I stumbled and fell about 8 PM. My Angel was there in 2 seconds, made sure I hadn't any serious injuries, and got me a pillow so I could take my time getting up off the floor. I cancelled the 911 call from my pendant. Just another nasty bruise, but had it been worse, she was ready. You don't have to be senior or elderly - call them if you need any help !
