Don't, I repeat Don't use this Hospice! I enrolled my sister who has dementia and is in a nursing…read morehome. The nurse refused to give her a pain patch, wanting her to swallow pills instead, which she won't. Hospice refused to help her with her pain management unless she did it their way. The attendant was rough bathing her, talked sharply to her and also to me on the phone. The nurse told me if my sister didn't cooperate more, they would take her out of Hospice care which they just did without notifying me. Thank heavens the facility called me right away. Fortunately, another Hospice picked her up immediately. Having had family members in another Hospice previously, I was shocked by the treatment she has received. My sister is well liked by all the caregivers at the facility she is at and never complains about any of them, but she is terrified of this person. Do not let them care for your loved ones.

I've investigated nursing home abuse many times over the past 32yrs. Lately I've been been…read moreresearching hospice care and having dealt with them myself with two family members, and one friend. From my own experience and reading assorted articles related to drug abuses, medicare fraud, and malnourishing patients I've decided never to allow a hospice group to be involved with me. They now have opened Hospice care centers which are nothing more than re-branding nursing homes, which now also call themselves health campus's. Their MO seems to be: 1. Sign Up Patients to get paid 2. Perform unnecessary medical procedures catheters etc.... 3. Deny Patients Food and water (starve and dehydrate them) 4. Over medicate using Morphine, Ativan, Holdol, etc... increasing the dosages until the patient is comatose and dies. Now feel free to disagree and have your own opinions, but this has been my experience as an investigator and in three separate cases so as family and friends remember to advocate for your loved ones and don't just hand them over to strangers for care. It's important to stand firm, demand answers and don't accept lip service. Many times families become fragmented because some members choose the easy path of handing the afflicted over to strangers and walking away, that's when it's even more important to stay strong and never allow a patient to be abused in any way, even if your the only one advocating. Most nursing homes, hospice care centers, health campus' wear masks and the public see's only what they want the public to see. Unfortunately as long as the family members can feel all warm and fuzzy about their decision to abandon their loved ones "in good hands" their ok with that. Nursing homes fear most strong patient advocates, and also law suits, not a fan but do what you have to to protect loved ones when nothing else works and always keep them home.

If you want your loved ones to be taken care of In a loving way, NEVER CONTACT VISITING ANGELS…read more With an Office administrator in Centerville, Ohio who does not return phone calls from their clients or conduct themselves in a professional manner, to a caregiver who gave my parents a parasitic skin condition, the care and attention they received from Visiting Angels was deplorable. My parents were "fired" by this agency with a letter that had very little real content as to why they were no longer able to be clients. My 87 year old parents were told they had two weeks to get replacement care, but in reality it was nine days by the time we received the letter. As a result, we were left frantically scrambling to find replacement caregivers to deal with my mother who is completely immobile. There was never a warning, conversation, or suggestion as to how we could improve the situation. As a resident of Centerville, Ohio, I will certainly never recommend this agency to others looking for home health care.

Several months ago, my wife & I planned to attend a Celebration of Life in Creede, Colorado, for her best friend who passed away last year from ALS. She was a very close friend of mine, as well. A 5 day trip. ...However, I have been experiencing some medical problems lately, and 8 hours in airports & airplanes, & another 6 in a car made it impossible for me to go with her. I met one of the co-owners a year back, so we called them. They sent over a Care Manager, who asked lots of questions to make certain they could help. ...Despite the short notice and short term, they sent over 4 care givers for the 5 days to watch over me from 3-10 PM, my potentially most dangerous times. J,E,A & K were not just professional, but delightful people to visit with. ...Sure enough, the day before my wife was due home, I stumbled and fell about 8 PM. My Angel was there in 2 seconds, made sure I hadn't any serious injuries, and got me a pillow so I could take my time getting up off the floor. I cancelled the 911 call from my pendant. Just another nasty bruise, but had it been worse, she was ready. You don't have to be senior or elderly - call them if you need any help !
