Buying; I've shopped here in the past, and I recall really loving the inventory. However, recently I have been really disappointed with the poor quality of the items. For example taking a discolored Lululemon skirt just because it was a brand name. Just because clothing items were name brands, (they were really worn, had tiny holes, and discoloration) they were hanging in this store. Selling; I brought in NWT items and excellent condition dresses, shoes, and tops (express, Banana, Calvin Klein, BarII) and only 2 items were taken by the store. I wouldn't be so disappointed, but they had such old, worn stuff in their store and my stuff was more fashionable, classic, and in better condition. The positive; the people were very sweet and I got a good price for the two items they took. read more

I like this place. It is hit or miss because it's used clothing, but I am always able to find good quality stuff. They need to do some editing with their tops, because they've got too much. I agree, shoes need to be organized by size. Whereas you have some flexibility when buying tops or skirts, not much wiggle room when looking for shoes. Service is OK - way better than Buffalo. So I can understand... because if you pay more than $90 and get here like $10 you still save a lot of money! Crossroads was my favorite store and I've been coming here for more than 5 years! I used to sell my clothes and get a decent amount of money for about 50% of them. Recently, the past couple of times I've brought one or two bags of great brands (free people, jcrew, Michael stars, etc) but they have taken one or two items! It's not worth my time! I waited 45 mins for them to take one item. I do not recommend selling here, and won't be selling here ever again! Over the years, it has become more and more overpriced. This place is pretty bad ass. I haven't attempted to sell anything yet, because I'm too busy checking the racks on a weekly basis - I mean, too busy to clean out my own closet (which is LONG over due). But I've made a deal with myself. Sell clothes THEN buy clothes. I've found a handful of really awesome pieces from this store and the selection is definitely plentiful. I've even found a few designer brand (which I don't give 2 shits about) items at really awesome prices. Shoes, bags, dresses, tops. You name it, they've got it. Just be prepared to spend about an hour searching through their countless racks. I super dig this place way more than that animal exchange whatever store because their staff is super friendly and doesn't give me weird looks when I end up in there for an extended amount of time. read more

I like this place much more than Buffalo Exchange. Their selection of clothes and a much bigger store, make for a significantly more enjoyable shopping experience. I bought a wonderful pair of nearly brand new New Balances for my husband for only $20! Lots of really great stuff for pretty cheap. read more

This is my favorite store to sell gently used clothes - and I usually work with Ainsley and Josh (and previously Emma). Selling: I'd say 85-90% of my clothes are usually accepted (the remainder generally due to seasonality, e.g. fur coats in June). Most of my clothes are a brand name, and because of the quantity and frequency I sell, I'm a VIP seller. Respect: I could wax on about how much $ I get (I think it's generally fair - and I usually opt for cash), but what I love most is how respectful they are to everyone. I've seen addicts and people down on their luck, wheeling in duffels with dingy, dated clothes trying to make some cash, and they always go thru piece-by-piece with a smile, and politely tell them why they won't be able to accept their items. Sometimes people are disappointed or angry with their selections (or lack there of), but they always maintain their professionalism - which I truly admire. Keep up the great work. read more

The pros of this place include the wide variety of clothing. You are bound to find something you like. Although it is often at a higher price than most consignment shops in the area. The cons are enough to keep me away. The service is just so bad. I shopped around for an hour with my hands full and not a single employee looked my way nor bothered to ask me if I needed help at the dressing room. This is in stark contrast to the kind of service you get at Buffalo Exchange for instance, where everyone is very kind and NOT snobby. This is my favorite store to sell at, for Summer 2016 I brought in 3 giant trash bags full of stuff that I once-loved-but-not-anymore and received $380 in cash, I was ecstatic! I recently brought in another trash bag full of Fall items and got $90 for about 15 items. For me, I enjoy bringing my clothes here and making a nice chunk of change every season or so. I had a mixture of older items and some NWT. They didn't take all of my items NWT, but it's understandable. As a seller you can't be so offended when the store doesn't take in an item, I mean C'MON you're trying to get rid of it for one reason or another... Inventory can be a hit or miss when I do shop here, but that's part of the fun! read more

It's not a bad place to check out sometimes. I have no problem wearing/using pre-owned stuff. Selections: Pretty awesome. It's a good sized shop, not too small, not too big. Not as big as the one on Melrose, but this place is just so packed with stuff, it makes up for the smaller size. Dont forget to look up and check out the ones hung on the walls. I once found Betsey Johnson white dress with black trim for $34. It was in a size that I would never fit in but it was really really pretty. They have a lot of vintage-inspired things. Price: Ranges from $8~$80ish (for designer jeans) but then they often have half off deals as well. Customer Service: This actually varies with individual associates, but usually 1 or 2 stars. During the most recent trip to this store, I went up to the counter to pay for my purchase. A guy was already paying for his stuff and there was just one sales associate helping at the counter even though the shop was pretty packed (they had 2 associates at the fitting room area). The guy and the clerk kept on talking about something, eventually, the guy was done, refused to take a bag for his purchase, and the clerk handed him a "coin" to put in the donation box. If you don't take a bag, they donate 5 or 10 cents to some kind of charity. So it's my turn now. As I was putting my things down on the counter, the sales clerk starts talking to the person BEHIND me. I wait patiently, while she and the person behind me talk passionately about nose piercings. I wasn't even greeted, and the whole time felt like i was being ignored. After I paid for things, I said I didn't want a bag, the girl just hands me the clothes and says "thank you bye," in a really hurried voice. Like, okay you're done, now get out. No coin for donation. Trading: I've sold a couple of designer jeans a year ago. I think it was a pair of Joe's Jeans, I got like $20 for trading, $16 if I wanted to cash it. I'm not sure. This location has a great selection of items from dresses to accessories. I got about 8 different outfits here last time and my total came to about $85. Can't beat that! I come back from time to time since they always have new items coming in constantly. Like the other locations, whether they take the stuff or not seems to all depend on which buyer you get. I guess there's no such guidelines that all of the buyers would follow. Some are pickier than the others, vice versa. Hit or miss and I got used to it. This one staff who helped me a while back didn't take any of my like new clothes from Anthropologie, claiming that he'd never heard of it. My recent selling experiences have been better so I'm not complaining. As far as buying, I prefer the Irvine location's selection and ambiance. read more

I AM FREAKING OBSESSED WITH THIS STORE !!! I shop here all the time and always find awesome deals. Designer jeans for under 45$?? Awesome ! Ella moss and lacoste shirts for under 15$?? Love it ! You can consign items and get 50% of the value you sell it for. I resell some of my clothes here, but only to get store credit because you get 30% cash or 50% store credit! Most of the staff here is extremely helpful and friendly. There is a high turn-over rate so if you see something you like and you don't get it, don't expect it to be there later ! They don't accept American express and if you do opt to get store credit, don't loose your slip because they don't keep record of them ! If an item you find is damaged, show it to one of the employees and they will most likely offer you the item at 50% off their price. Great store, pretty tidy for how much stuff they have ! What really turns me off to this place is the horrible customer service. No hello. No asking if I need help with anything. I have to be honest; Maybe it was the way I grew up. But the first time I walked in here, I immediately wanted to walk out. There was ladies clothes on the walls, on the floor, shoes in the corner, men's taped to the wall, designer duds thrown in with modern day duds. Could Marc Jacobs and American Apparel find a way too get along? But, as time passed, and my bank account got smaller, and smaller..this store became some what of a treasure. They sell excellent stuff if you dig deep enough. Last minute steels, and you can even bring your clothes here that you don't want any more, and sell them, 50% cash, or 75% store credit. I've gotten some cool t-shirts here, and some 7 jeans at an affordable price. read more

I'm surprised this store only has 3 stars. i think the selection is great. maybe i'm not picky. i always find tons of stuff everytime i come here cause the store is packed. it's pretty organized too, sorted by colors: green, yellow, blue, orange, pink, red, black, white: you get the idea. for the blouses: top rack is short sleeve/tanks bottom is long sleeve, sweaters. they have a designated purse section, pants, skirts, scarves, jackets, and dresses. again: it is well organized. prices are super reasonable and WAY BETTER THAN BUFFALO EXCHANGE. (we'll save that for another review.) They are definitely not as picky as buffalo in the things they take. (if you want to sell) But they will price it lower than buffalo. Which is fine I guess cause everything is cheaper anyway. The staff have always been pretty nice + pleasant in my opinion. read more

You can find some really cute, good quality things for really, really cheap. However, at the same time, you can find really ugly things for not-so-cheap, just because they carry a quasi-designer name. Those things are sometimes bad enough to make you question the overall taste of the store.. It's an odd amalgamation of great finds and ugh pieces, but I will vouch that the majority of things are worth buying (even second hand) if you're on a budget! The only thing I wouldn't really recommend would be selling your clothes here since they give you a tiny, tiny amount. Selling on ebay/garage sale/facebook would get you more money, but to each her/his own! read more

I was a disappointed with the customer service I was given at Crossroads. I have been a customer for years- to buy never to sell. I signed in and shopped while I waited to be called. When I went to try on in the fitting rooms, I was given the very first room and zero respect. I already felt an uncomfortable vibe. When selling, I was treated as if I had no idea what I was doing because I "look young" as well as it was my first time selling to Crossroads in particular. I understood only some items are appropriate for season/what they are looking for. The customer service was below standard. I couldn't decide wether or not I wanted to sell a pair of Sam Edelman's, so the transaction was suspended- or put off until I decided. Then, a minute later, the fitting room attendant cashed out my credit; he also seemed completely uninterested in what I had to say. I'd be inclined to shop and sell to Crossroads if I was treated nicely, or given genuine service. read more

It is what it is people. A clothing trade. Sometimes your going to find something, sometimes your not. Yes sometimes they have expensive rags, hanging next to the less expensive, isn't that really a metaphor for life? Its always a gamble. With that in mind, its really a great place to buy used clothing... but only if you are willing to hunt for the treasures. Clothes aren't going to fly off the rack, its not an expensive boutique, with four dresses hanging on the wall, its an amalgamation of clothes and shoes, and hats and belts. Its constantly cycling in the new(ish) and out the old. Don't hate if you shop here, embrace it, for you are NOT ONLY getting great deals on some otherwise expensive clothing, but think of the impact this has on the environment. We need to embrace this sense of recycling in other areas of our lives as well.... last week i bought a blazer, a hoodie, and two shirts for $39.00, and i adore each piece! read more

Similar to Buffalo Exchange, Crossroads Trading Company buys and sells used & vintage fashion. The differences i noticed was that the workers there are friendly, not snooty, the quality and variety of merchandise was far greater comparative to B.E. and much larger as well. and OMG the shoes! Huge selection of shoes and other accessories, rows of cute jackets that go on for days, and none of that lame hipster BS like necklaces for $35 or redundant footless leggings. are you over that fashion, too? Yeah. Crossroads Trading Company encourages unique fashion as well as encouraging the environmental impact of recycling. We love CTC! read more

I do not recall if there was ever a time I stopped by here and didn't walk away with something great to take home. I have always preferred Crossroads to other thrift stores. They seem to get a lot more new/exclusives items compared to other recycled clothing stores and the quality of the merchandise they take is pretty excellent. I have found exclusives from smaller boutiques, that I would have never expected to show up, long behold, between racks of random shirts and sweaters, they would show up, at an equally attractive price. Only down side is the parking in the plaza it is located in. Most spots by the store are 20 minutes only, so you may have to park a few rows over or towards the opposite facing side. For all the nay-sayers who are pissed about them not buying your entire suitcase worth of clothes, please keep in mind that they are looking for CURRENT styles AND seasons. If you're not going to were a thick wool sweater in the summer, chances are, no one else in socal will either. In addition, they're not there to take all the junk from your closet and give you any sort of cash or credit for it. If you're looking for someone to do that, go up the street to Goodwill and drop off your donations there. read more

As someone who works in retail, I completely empathize and understand where those rolled eyes and urges to rush customers out the door are coming from... So, when I walked into the store, (10 min before closing) I did so apprehensively and apologetically. But much to my surprise, every associate I waked past was extremely welcoming. I have worked retail for over 10 years and I know what it's like to have customers walk in that close to closing, so I was pleasantly amazed when I was greeted with a friendly welcome vs the expected rolled eyes, sighs, glares, or annoyed, "Just so you know, we close in 10 minutes," (Which really means...So please hurry up and get out so we can go home.) I also called today to extend a hold, and Jordan (?) picked up a few minutes after their closing hours, and was so sweet and helpful. FINALLY! A second hand store that isn't solely staffed with rude employees! If you wish to have an easy, helpful and positive shopping experience, just come here. read more

This place was awesome to sort through. I liked all the selection that they had to choose from even though I didn't buy anything. Many instyle trends and it was priced pretty moderately. I wouldn't say that they were cheap. Service: eh. not impressed. talk to me, i am a nice person, seriously, just don't ignore me. Selling: they actually did not take anything out of 3 bags that I had brought in and they declined to take anything from the 3 people in front of me too. I understand why though. The store is huge, how much of the stuff do they actually sell?? Plus they get stuff from the company itself where they sell their own "brand new" stuff in all sorts of sizes too. Crossroads has a large selection with tons of variety. They really have something for everyone and don't limit their selection to one particular style, which is cool for those of us who have multiple dressing personas! I've found nice, tailored pieces for work, as well as stuff that suits my non-work style. Everything's pretty current... in fact, I once found an dress there for 14 bucks that I saw at H&M the previous weekend for 40. (I felt so rejected when H&M didn't have my size, but I turned out to be super-lucky after all!) They have lots of H&M-level stuff, as well as higher-end designers, and unique stuff by labels I've never heard of. The store's really well laid-out, not cramped like some vintage places, so it's actually conducive to browsing and taking your time. The girls working there are super-sweet. The diversity in their styles seems to translate into the variety in their stock, and, unlike the snobs at Buffalo Exchange, they don't make you feel like a loser who wasted their time if they reject 19 of the 20 pieces you bring in. read more

i'm pretty much always gonna buy my clothes from crossroads, i am always able to find some LEGIT clothes, Top brands for a really good price. its almost in a addiction to see how much of a great buy i can find. i don't know how someone can't find something here for themselves. also, the staff was really nice, this lady even had a complaint and spoke to the manager because she lost her voucher, which we all know is like asking the bank for your money back when you lose it somewhere... anyways the manager was professional and extremely nice even tho the lady was being nice. good job! read more

I used to live in Costa Mesa years ago as a college student & I would shop at this Crossroads location very often because of 3 big reasons: - Affordability - Wide variety and selection of clothing (including brand designer names) - The organization from sizes to types of clothes to the color Till this day, Crossroads still live up to them... mostly. However there are reasons why I have to give this Crossroads location 3 stars: - The PAST: When I did live in Costa Mesa as a college student, I would also sell my clothes. Every time I would bring my 2 trash bags full of clothes and shoes, they would ONLY take about 5 pieces of clothing. Even though I had good quality clothes that were in season & clothes they were asking for on their list (even though they are not "brand designer names"), they did not take a lot... After reading all of the previous Yelp reviews and my personal experiences selling, it seems to me the seller staff are a bit PICKY in choosing items and they only want designer names. FYI. - The NOW: Yesterday I was in Costa Mesa and I went to visit my old Crossroads store here. I was still impressed with the selection and organization of clothing. BUT the PRICES definitely WENT UP. I remember years ago I would buy F21/H&M/Zara, etc. blouses for $8-12, but now, $16-20 for blouses?! What happened??? It's not even a used Michael Kors blouse...
