I came to SEED People's for the first time this weekend when visiting The Camp shopping area. I was very impressed by the size and selection! The store is 2 stories and they sell everything from home goods, cards, gifts, clothes for the whole family and much more! As a creative person who studied fashion merchandising, their displays were everything to me. It reminded me a little of Anthropology, with more of a boho/hippy vibe. The whole store is extremely visually appealing and has a "hangout vibe". It is the perfect store for this area. It totally goes with the theme. The staff are super friendly and helpful too! I really dislike leaving negative reviews for small businesses, but I hope the owner sees this. I visited the store today to buy a gift for my son and for my business partner. We picked up a vest that was clearly marked at $160. When we went to pay, the cashier told my wife the price was actually $200. We understand that pricing mistakes can happen -- that wasn't the issue. What disappointed us was the attitude. Instead of explaining the situation kindly or apologizing for the confusion, the employee was dismissive and rude. Unfortunately, that interaction really affected our experience and made us reconsider returning. I hope management can address the customer service aspect, because the store carries great products and has a lot of potential. read more

My daughter and I had such a wonderful time shopping at Seed in Costa Mesa this Saturday ! The selection there is wonderful for gifts and basics and all things jewelry and candles and clothing! The sales staff is so helpful ,they go out of there way to help their customers! The store manager Terry is so supportive and ready to check on anything and is a treasure know ! My favorite place to window shop lol. Me and my wife live close by The Camp and step into SEED from time to time. The staff are very welcoming and greet every customer that walks in. They carry quality outdoor brands with a wide selection. Mind you these brands are not cheap(at least for me) but they are good quality and are valued at the appropriate price. They carry a whole bunch of different things from plants to homeware to outdoor equipment to greeting cards, all revolving around the theme of being eco-friendly and environmentally conscious. Was a cute place, very well curated and was in the mood to purchase. Until I got to the upstairs area where they had "vintage" home goods and decor. Saw some cute brown scallop dishes that I really liked until I turned it around to see a Daiso, the Japanese dollar store, label on them. They decide to price these dishes at around 20 bucks when they are originally $1.75. I happened to go to daiso the same day and I found the same dishes for $1.75. This really put me off and made me mistrust SEEDs pricing. read more

Been coming to this store for a long time and really love the selection, but it really gets my gall when people close up shop early. I know how satisfying it can be to close up a store when it's been a long day at work, but when you've still got customers walking around and it's ten minutes before close, there's something infuriating about being turned away at the door. First off, I love the odds and ends at this store. The store itself always has a mix of interesting merchandise - a great place to find new independent brands. A few days ago I had purchased an item online with the option for store pickup. I never received a confirmation email but figured it had been a couple of days, let me just go into the store and pick it up. Was helped promptly by a sales associate who quickly went to locate my merchandise I had paid for. The sales associate came back to the front and told me that the item I purchased had not been for sale in a long time and that I would receive a refund. While in the store, I did not receive any type of refund receipt from the sales associate, but I'd figured he was being honest and didn't think much of it. Later that day I checked my email and I did receive a notice of refund. However, thinking about it later, it truly disappointed me that I was sold merchandise from this store that (1) they don't even sell (2) I was charged for said merchandise and (3) had to go pickup said merchandise that I paid for that this retailer does not have. Just seemed extremely odd. And had I not went in and checked on my purchase, I am highly doubtful that the retailer would reach out to me notifying me of the issue. Also, I did end up purchasing another item when I was in the store. A different sales associate helped me and I had requested a gift receipt. He acknowledged my request. I didn't think to check for a gift receipt until I was in my car, lo and behold, no gift receipt in my bag just a normal receipt. Issues like these really change the customer's experience. Though everyone is nice and helpful at this store, details are being missed. It really is tasking on the customer to deal with anomalous issues like the two I listed above. Whenever I am in Orange County I try to make a special trip to the Camp shops and this store especially. It has all of my favorite brands inside such as Re/Up which is a sustainable brand that makes clothing out of recycled plastic water bottles and upcycled fabric scraps. I was blown away by this brand, they're local based out of Santa Ana, and they sell their clothing at Seed People's Market. Re/Up has the cutest variety of clothing, tshirts, sweatshirts, socks and beanies. I come to Seed People's Market especially for their merchandise. It's all I wear now. They also carry a large selection of Patagonia brand here too. At Seed they offer pottery classes upstairs and furniture. Downstairs are clothing, stationary, jewelry section, and other merchandise like drink ware and thermoses. They sell clothing for men and women and if you subscribe to their newsletter you get 15% off their online store. I haven't had a chance to use the coupon because I just go in store to check out Re/Up merchandise and make my purchases there. The parking is busy so you may have to circle several times around before you a parking space. But it's so worth the wait to experience such a neat store. Premium, High-Quality items in the store. And I tell you they are all of very high quality. The caveat is everything is absolutely very expensive. Well, not everything. I was able to buy a Pendleton beanie and another special cap for my sister and brother in laws Christmas present for $55 I think. That is on the low end there. But they have a lot of different clothes and certain gear for your outdoor trips. Little gadgets, odds and ends. It's a really beautiful store. I wish I was more of an outdoorsman and I would shop here more. I saw a ton of stuff that I wanted but also I don't think I saw anything that would fit a tall and husky guy like myself, except for maybe a t-shirt. It doesn't surprise me. Often my size is overlooked by managers in store inventories everywhere. But go give this store a whirl. You will find something you like, I promise. read more

Had an awesome experience at the Artime Barro Pottery class. Thanks so much to the staff for the amazing photos and experience. My friends and I had a blast creating our cups and bowls. Both teachers did a great job explaining the process to beginners. I wish they had a page I could review them separately, but I could not locate it on Yelp! Outdoor ambiance, shops and seating is adorable . Highly recommended and would visit again

I came here the other day after going to Blackmarket Bakery. I saw those SALE signs in the window and had to stop in. The sign at the door said "30% off bags, footwear, and outerwear". How could I say "no" to a great sale? This store is huge! They had all the great outdoor and athletic apparel here. Right away I noticed the beautiful Patagonia jacket that I had been wanting for the longest time but couldn't find in the stores last year. When I realized it was also 30% off, I felt like I hit pay dirt. They also had a great selection of footwear and bags on sale as well. Then I got the chance to wander the store. All those beautiful, cold weather items were in one section. Sweaters, jackets, and vests of all kinds! They also had a good selection of brands here. I noticed the nice accessories, like bags, shoes, hats, jewelry, and sunglasses. They also had home decor and cute toys. There were lots of nice workout apparel here too! This store has a nice open feel with a couch in the middle of the store and open doors behind it, letting the wonderful fresh air in. The store has this eco friendly vibe with it's concrete flooring, beautiful plants, and large nature-related photos and products. I even liked that they have yoga studio upstairs. I think it's a great use of space! The sales associate was helpful. When I told I her that I always get cold when we go to the mountains, she mentioned getting a base layer to go with that beautiful Patagonia jacket. When I realized I was running late for my next appointment, she rang up my items quickly. This store is great! I wish I had more time to shop because there was such a great selection of clothing and accessories here. Would you understand exactly what this store was if I just called it a "granola place"? Full of green and eco-friendly products, this store is overflowing with things for the home. Soaps & scents, jewelry & handbags, toys, cards, books, hats & clothing, plates & mugs and various knick-knacks. The items they carry are not the sort of stuff I normally purchase - I guess I'm not the hippie-earthy type. If you are a person who is taking some time off from whale-saving, you'll love this place. A couple things that surprised me in this store that I liked: They offer free internet stations (for global travelers or bored husbands) and the in-store music playing was 80's New Wave (not sure this is always the case but it was while I was there). Also I really liked the layout of the store and the comfortable vibe. Whoever puts together the displays is creative and has a keen sense of design. SEED People's Market is located inside The Camp. Its main theme is supposedly eco-friendly and green products, but that theme seems to be lost among the large varieties of merchandise displayed. It's hard to describe the store, but I would say it's like a small REI with a hipster theme. It carries a large selection of sportswear and outdoor accessories for activities such as camping, biking or hiking. You'll find a wide varieties of windbreakers, boots, sleeping bags, backpacks, etc. Many clothing items are of higher end materials and many have a hipster appeal. Accessories include sunglasses, outdoor watches, skateboards, among other items. Prices tend to be higher end, but so is the quality. Other merchandise include a small book section that have items from cookbooks to some humor and offbeat subjects. There's a corner that displays toiletries, fragrances and candles. We tried some samples and they were very nice. There are many other arts and crafts merchandise as well as some jewelry items. The large array of products sold here are too numerous to mention. Overall, a great store to browse around and treasure hunt for that unique gift or some special gems that are hard to find. The place is cool, with a hipster vibe. The atmosphere feels comfortable. The staff is nice and friendly. It's certainly a place that I'll revisit whenever I happen to be at The Camp. read more

I wanted to like this place. They have cool clothes, jewelry, and accessories. My boyfriend and I picked a couple items to purchase, and right before we were going to pay, we went upstairs to the home section. Again, cute stuff. BUT, we noticed across the store, in the second floor office space they have (across from the balcony side), there is a MAGA hat sitting on someone's desk. That is the fastest way to let People of Color, Disabled people, LGBTQ people, migrants, etc, etc, etc, know that they are not welcomed and the only thing valuable about them is the money they spend in your store. They said I can exchange it first, but later when they found that jacket was a sale item, they said NO exchange. Even exchange to different sizes.. Don't come here if you don't want to catch omicron. Despite state wide indoor masking law in effect just now in unventilated space at least 8 people were not wearing masks and there is zero enforcement. It is scofflaw central. It was the most outrageous example I've seen in the state. Too dangerous. Don't let your old people or immuno compromised people go here. Getting Patagonia isn't worth catching omicron. Also I contacted the business by email and social media messaging and no one replies, so they obviously don't care if people die because of their non-enforcement of the law. I hate it when "sustainable" and supposedly eco-friendly places with products like Patagonia that claim to be good for the planet do things like this--endangering the lives of everyone who shops there, including at least half the customers who are wearing masks and don't expect to be endangered by this business's who cares attitude. It was really gross to see a bunch of super privileged people not wearing masks and endangering workers and all of us with their we're-too-good-to-wear-a-mask attitude, while across the county in downtown Santa Ana all the people I saw at the markets were wearing masks and the business owners seemed to have no problem enforcing the law, with kindness and firmness. Guess it's my fault for giving this horrible place my money ever. Still really grossed out days later. San Diego even is a million times better than this when it comes to enforcement. read more

Used to be one of our favorite places to visit when visiting Costa Mesa, but that has changed as of late. I was double charged for my purchase because of a system error. I tried to explain my situation to the store manager but instead of her listening and helping me she kept interrupting me and directed me to call my bank saying there was nothing she could do. I ended up calling back in hopes of speaking to someone else to help resolve this issue for me. Someone else ended up helping me and refunding me, no problem. She was kind and understood my situation. She also shared that it was her last day due to management. Their store manager is rude, unprofessional and unapologetic. It's so sad how people that work here DONT KNOW how to be actual retail associates. I came in yesterday (Sunday) with my mom and 2 siblings to buy some Patagonia jackets. I hadn't noticed while in the store because I mind my own business and don't care what others around me are doing but once we got home my mom and 1 of my younger brothers expressed how UNCOMFORTABLE they felt at the store because there was not only 1 person FOLLOWING US around but 2! My mom said they were acting as shoppers but it was so obvious they were following us around. I was carrying about 2-3 jackets at a time because those were the ones we planned to purchase. I guess it's "VERY SUSPICIOUS " when Hispanics are carrying expensive items.... Instead of the poor trained associates offering to place our items at the counter for whenever we were ready to purchase they chose to follow us around. The Patagonia section is right when you walk in, we didn't know if the store also placed any in the back but my mom pointed out (at home) when we tried going to the back of the store..both men were there still following us. When we finally were ready to pay I went to the counter where one blonde man (same man following us) was standing and he refused to help me pointing out someone else would come up to help. I didn't think much of it but even our check out person was acting so strange, someone else had to come help him. They also had rude comments asking if we knew how to take care of the jackets...why we were buying the jackets... like why is that any of the sales associate business. My mom also said that one of the men that was following us was standing right next to us when we were going to pay! This is so sad and disgusting. I definitely would have NOT purchased 3 Patagonia jackets from them if I would have noticed or even been told by my family members. I would have taken my money elsewhere. Unfortunately 2 of the jackets already have the tags off and 1 is unable to be returned since it was on sale... if it wasn't for that I would definitely gone back last night or even this morning to return them all. They definitely judge you here based on your race/ethnicity so careful if you aren't of lighter complexion. Can't believe we spent over $700 here. Never coming back. Everyone here needs better training in every aspect. I wish I would have noticed this poor behavior at the store as well because I would have definitely called them out. Seed's is like a high end REI that sells furniture, jewelry, housewares and super awesome beauty products in addition to outdoor sporting items. I absolutely love it and can spend hours looking at various knick knacks, smelling soaps and candles and pining after totally cool gear. The displays are visually interesting and aesthetically appealing and the staff has always been very available to field questions and offer assistance. The price tags aren't the lowest but they have such neat stuff, you often don't mind spending the extra dough. read more

Cutest little "Anthropology-like" shop that supports small, local businesses. Lots of fun merchandise. My fave was the Amborella Organically lollipops. They sat on a cute display w faux grass and it's made from natural ingredients AND the best part of all is the stick of the lollipop is biodegradable and instead of throwing it in the trash, you can plant it as it has seeds built in them!! We purchased and lavender lemongrass (still have to eraser it) but it def looks yummy! They also have a super old school little movie theatre with like 4 seats in it and you can watch old films. First off, this place is really cool. It has some of my favorite brands. I made my first purchase there yesterday and will sadly not be buying anything else. The jacket I bought had a US price and AUS price and I was charged the AUS price which was more expensive. After I realized what had happened and spoke to the employee, they told me that happens if there's tariffs and importation, etc. Actually lied to me instead of admitting they made a mistake and fix it? I liked the products and vibe, esp for gifts, but the return and exchange policy is a problem, esp given that they're competing with online channels and REI. My eight-year-old purchased a medium shirt for me for Father's Day. I tried to exchange it within 72 hours for an identical product in large and they gave me a hard time because I didn't have the gift receipt (even though the tags were on it). I pleaded for an exception to knoavail. I had to drive back home and return and waste an hour of my day, and gas. In the future I'll shop online or at REI as they have a more reasonable policy (and better prices). It's a shame because I preferred to support my local community And I'm confident I was in the top 25% of customers there. Jess, I'll increase the rating because you took the time to respond, albeit a year later. I'd strongly encourage you to afford your staff some discretion in interpreting policies. They acknowledged they recalled my 7 year old son just bought the gift (and what 7 year old keeps a receipt) but said they had no authority. If they knew I purchased it there, why send me all the way back home to prove it? A waste of an hour of my day is a much bigger cost to me than a small gift. read more

This little market has a wide variety of unique items. They carried jewelry, clothing, houseware, greeting cards, and camping gear. I usually come in here for the Unique greeting cards and also for Patagonia clothing. I usually spend most of my time walking around and looking at all the cool stuff.The Workers are so nice and helpful. They also offer free gift wrapping for the holidays.
