Meh is all I can say. I would love for a decent restaurant to open in this space. Hasn't happened in the 20+ years I have been living here. Food was mediocre. Yup, sure was on the less expensive side but what's the point of spending (less) money if the food is sub par. Decor hasn't changed with every iteration. Same tired late 70's early 80's look. This place is a total letdown. I had high hopes, but they were crushed almost immediately. The food is below average at best--bland, poorly presented, and way overpriced for what you get. The pizza? Absolutely terrible. Trust me, do yourself a favor and never order it. It tasted like something microwaved from a gas station freezer aisle. The drinks are the only semi-redeeming quality, but even then, they're outrageously overpriced. A basic cocktail shouldn't cost what it does here, especially when it's half ice and made without care. And then there's the so-called bartender--specifically the short man behind the bar. I don't know if he thinks being rude is a personality trait, but he was dismissive, unhelpful, and downright nasty to paying customers, No greeting, no eye contact, and zero effort to make anyone feel welcome. I've never seen someone so uninterested in doing their job--or so comfortable treating people like a burden. Nonetheless My son, who is clearly underage, was sitting with me and made it very clear he wasn't drinking. Despite that, this bartender acted like we were trying to pull a fast one. In with a friend for lunch and first visit. The space was cozy, but neat and clean, with 6-8 tables in back and bar and counter seating in the front of the tavern, along with a couple of patio tables out in front. Big screen TVs are located in the bar and dining room corner. The menu is loaded with mouthwatering pub fare...deciding was tough. Enjoyed a Sam Adams Winter lager, the only dark-ish beer available either on tap or in bottles. I chowed down on the burger with mushrooms and crumbled blue cheese - the 10oz beef was tender, juicy and delivered medium rare as requested. Accompaniments included a couple of pickle slices, a cup of slaw and a pile of crispy fries. My friend had the chicken Caesar wrap and enjoyed his as well. I am a big fan of the local hole-in-the-wall places, and the Croton Grille definitely did not disappoint! We popped in with our toddler to grab a bite for lunch after playing in the park, and for a bar vibe they were very accommodating to little ones. The food was really great! We did the Croton burger, which come with bacon and Mac and cheese on Texas toast. It was cooked perfectly and that says a lot coming from my picky husband. Didn't try the beer this time, but they had some great selections on tap. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive, and made a point to as what he could bring out for our son since they didn't have a kids menu. Only negative thing was the bathrooms could have used some TLC. We love you, Croton Grille! We'll be back! read more

We just left this place two minutes ago and I must say our cravings were satisfied. We were on the way home and needed to make a pit stop to eat something. The staff was friendly and totally knowledgeable of what the menu/drinks were, she gladly answered all of our questions. The service was quick and plentiful. Was In the area for a small event and decided to check out the Croton Grille. Buyer beware: not a great experience. Let me qualify - the service was terrific. The guy beyond the bar waited on us and was stellar. Now the bad part - the food. Ordered a medium burger with mushroom and onions. The burger was well done, the mushrooms seemed canned and were cold, and the onions were oily and tough. While there was a hint that the burger could have tasted like something other than shoe leather, the battle was lost. Also, the bun was soggy, too small, and probably full of corn syrup. Ok the fries were good. My wife got the Mac and Cheese -yep it was one of those nights. Think velveeta meets rubber pasta shells. Maybe it was an off night. Hope so. read more

It's a clean well lighted place. The ambiance was nice, sort of suburban man cavesque. Good to go with kids or friends. The service was fine and attentive, but definitely a quieter atmosphere. Hey it's not that big. The food was pub grub. The pours were more than generous, and the price was great. I'd go back again to hang with friends or take the family. When driving by, the sign is so dirty and blah, that one only reasonably assumes that the place is an alcoholic bar of yesteryear (when, in fact, it's a wonderful establishment). I know many people who haven't gone in simply because of the sign. I noticed that this place just opened so I figured I'd order a few takeout sandwiches for my sister and I while we watched the Yankee game. She ordered a cheese steak wedge and I got the pastrami Ruben on a roll. Both came with French fries and a coleslaw. The order was ready very quickly. When I got home, I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were no styrofoam containers. The sandwiches were in recyclable paper containers which I happen to really like. Both sandwiches were hot as were the fries. We both really enjoyed them. Overall we were both very happy with our order. I look forward to trying the other items on the menu. I don't have much to say about the inside of most places since I usually order a lot of takeout. But, when I picked it up, the place looked clean and the yankee game was on, and I certainly support that. So yeah, I live in the neighborhood so I will be ordering again pretty soon. read more

Just moved to town and started coming to the Grille after finding them on Instagram- apparently they just opened recently. Best burger I've had yet in this town, and they have a great daily happy hour menu ( try the buffalo calamari). This small neighborhood bar has a friendly vibe and is immaculately clean. The young bartender/waitress was lovely and the food was good. Burgers and fries were good. The 4 cheese Mac n cheese was a little too cheesy for us. My skirt steak with chimichurri and fried onions was tasty and just the right portion. The big crispy onion rings were excellent.
