There were even a few cheers! and we didn't miss a single trivia night because he had pre arranged to switch our wednesday night trivia to a different restaurant that although it is an even further drive for me and my team, the food is much better, completely consistent and ownership of the restaurant takes pride in the product they put out. We have been asking our quizmaster for years to find an alternative to the crown and anchor.... We go to wednesday night trivia because we love the quality of the quiz and we suffer through your food as a sort of "necessary evil" and you can accuse me of not approaching you personally when there was a problem with a meal but the fact of the matter is that I have approached your managers several times with issues (like when the iced tea had no flavor or the fries tasted like they were cooked in filthy oil or the chili breadbowl was stale) and those same managers (multiple) said that you weren't there and you didn't really care about the product the crown and anchor put out. you could have just apologized for my negative experience but instead you accused me of lying and slander. And just because you manage to stay in business doesn't mean that you are putting out good/consistent product. read more

Ordered the fish and chips (king sized) and the British Burger. Fish in chips has a great crust and the fish was flaky and juicy. The British burger meat is cooked the way you want and the flavor of the beef is top tier. The fried egg and secret sauce adds to the already tasty beef patty. Fries are thick cut and crispy soft. This is such a cute pub, and the food is delish! My family came here before a show at the Fred Kavli Theater, and we absolutely loved it. We shared the chicken pot pie, house salad, and fish and chips, and all were super tasty. Big portions that were easily shared among 3 people, and reasonable prices to boot! I loved the festive Christmas decorations and the red phone booth in the front, too. And coming from LA, definitely loved the ample parking in the huge lot out front! The typical British Isles ex-pat Pub and Restaurant. Very football (soccer) orientated. Always a game on, either live or recorded. The ale selection is good as is the food. The Pub area is good size but it is a popular place so go early to get a table. read more

I've been coming here for years and I can't believe I never wrote a review. This hidden gem has that authentic British Pub feel, with a courtyard/patio seating area that is distinctly Thousand Oaks. Stepping inside you instantly feel transported to England, from the exposed beams to the leather upholstery, long wooden bar, and the presence of dart boards, Crown & Anchor hits all the right notes. The staff is friendly and attentive, and makes you feel right at home. There are 3 seating areas; the bar, a large dining room, and the patio. If the weather suits it, I highly recommend the patio... it is just lovely to enjoy a pint under the giant oak tree. The food is traditional British fare, and the expected items from a Full English to a Scotch Egg to Corned Beef Hash, they are all excellent and what you'd expect. The fish and chips here are on point, and I honestly won't go anywhere else in Thousand Oaks for as a chippy. They also have some menu accommodations for those in your party who want more traditional American fare, including BBQ Chicken Salad, Chinese Chicken Salad, Chicken Club, and even a Philly Cheesesteak. So if you are with a large party with some picky eaters, everyone can find something at Crown & Anchor. The draft beer list has everything you'd expect, however as of my writing this review (January 2026) they do not have ESB (due to tariffs I'm told) so unfortunately you have to make due with an Irish standard like Smithwicks or Guinness. First time visiting today. There were 5 of us for a birthday lunch, so we chose the shady patio. The atmosphere and vibe is very welcoming, and the staff greeted us right away. The food is excellent. My parents had the King Fish & Chips and the portion was so large, they took some home. The fish was high quality and the batter was light and crispy. The rest of us couldn't resist trying the Cornish Pastie, and I'm so glad I did. It's like a shepherd's pie you can hold in your hand. The crust was flaky and flavorful. The meat, potatoes, and vegetables inside was seasoned well and tender. It came with mashed potatoes and we swapped out the peas for green beans- and they were delicious. We only wish we lived closer. Malibu is a long way from Anaheim. Anytime we pass this way, we'll make sure to stop in for a bite. read more

Walking in we were greeted by the waitress who mentioned we can sit anywhere in the pub or the restaurant. She was polite. We sat in the restaurant and were greeted with on themed pictures/paintings. As an appetizer we ordered the Scottish Egg which was $10.50 for one egg cut into fours. I felt like that was overpriced for how it tasted and how simple it was. The entrees is where it is at. The British Breakfast and Toad N' Hole was flavorful, plentiful, and well seasoned. The bangers in both dish had the right amount of saltiness. The sticky toffee pudding was okay. Sometimes you find somewhere truly special. I don't know how they do it, but the family that established this pub has created something amazing and unique. I grew up in England and moved to South California and everything I love about these cultures is here. Great people, fantastic service, delicious, fresh and comforting pub food. Oh man this was rough. I'm giving this a two instead of the one I normally would be inclined to rate but we only tried one dessert as opposed to other menu items. But I doubt I'll ever be back. We were sat at a slightly dirty table, the paper placemats had flecks of oil on them and the silverware had food flecks on them. After these sad omens were addressed, we ordered their sticky toffee pudding. Listen I know we're not in the uk and I wasn't expecting the best version of this dish but I was expecting something at least similar to the original dish. What we got was a sad spice cake with some custard and syrup on top. The custard was separating and nothing felt right about it. Plus it took forever to pay. I expected the fish to be deep fried but not that grease would ooze out of the coating. My parents LOvE Crown & Anchor. They have been coming here for YEARS! It is their happy place and I can understand why. We went here when my grandfather passed away to lift spirits. Celebrated in the bar after my wedding party. Would swing by during lunch breaks to sit under the oak tree outside. Have some fish n chips on Friday night sitting in the maroon leather booths while the game is on. This restaurant and bar has CHARACTER. Servers are ALWAYS nice and the food is definitely filling. My mom thinks every menu item is delicious. I recommend getting a pint or two of refreshing cold beer to help. I like that they are opening up the beer list to have non British beers like Topa Topa and Liquid Candy. I tend to go with a Newcastle or Heineken though. For food, I switch between the chili or the fish n chips. Burgers you can't go wrong with either. Fries(chips) are Crispy which we love. I hear the pizzas are fantastic as well. Came into Crown & Anchor in Thousand Oaks the other night and ended up having a really great experience. Ashlee took care of us and she was honestly great. She was super attentive without making it feel like she was constantly hovering, and somehow always seemed to show up right when we needed something. She was really personable too, which made the whole thing feel more relaxed instead of the typical in-and-out bar service. Our drinks stayed full, she checked in on the food at the right time, and she just had a really easygoing, friendly vibe the whole night.
