We were seated quickly by the hostess and ordered within a few minutes of sitting down; my wife ordered the seafood pasta I ordered the butternut squash ravioli and the tomato burrata salad as an appetizer. After about 20 minutes the waitress returned to let us know that they were out of the pasta, so my wife asked for the risotto instead. The salad arrived quickly, however my wife noted that it was missing grilled peaches that were listed in the menu description, a disappointment. The salad itself was balsamic dressed cherry tomatoes with a single piece of burrata on top. Another 40 minutes later our entrees finally arrived. Much to my dismay my dish lacked any appreciable character; it was as if they had cooked six month old frozen pasta and thrown up a brown sauce with fried sage on top. My wife's risotto was mostly cheese but was also similarly devoid of other flavors. Now to be fair to the folks here, I did mention to the waitstaff that the flavors in the food were off and they did reduce the bill. They were also apologetic about the wait we faced. Nevertheless, restaurants have three things they need to do well in order to be successful: food, service and ambience. Perhaps if they improved the quality of the food and the time to service more people would come. Needless to say, but I won't be returning.

I'm surprised that having a full bar, and being attached to a hotel property, that they would hang it up so early - even 9:30 or 10:00 would make more sense. It's such a charming place; seems a shame to have to call it a night so early. The ambiance is absolutely divine, especially out here in suburbia. It's very innovative in its layout. The lighting was carefully planned and is very effective in creating a special mood. And, what can be said about the wall of roses? It's tailor-made for snapping fun photos, that's for sure. The chef is sending out creative and Dee-Licious dishes from the kitchen. Yes, I know how to spell delicious, but it is worth adding the accented flair to stating the fact that this is a cut above many other dining establishments in the Conejo Valley. Dear Hubby and I shared Pappardelle Pasta and a Tuna Tartare appetizer. Both were excellent. One of our nieces ordered the taco platter. Wait till you see the photo. The only thing that was disappointing, menu-wise, was that bread wasn't included, so we ordered some as a side. Two little slices. I've forgotten the price, but I recall that it turned into sticker shock when we saw what was served. I'm tickled that they offer a nice array of zero proof cocktail options. They aren't inexpensive - apparently spirits without alcohol aren't any less (or maybe only slightly less?) than the full-spirited options. Still, it's nice to have the option. Our out of town family members LOVED Selvin's; it was a big hit with all of us. Wings The wings were really nice sized and finished over fire leaving a nice char texture and taste. The BBQ sauce seemed bland to me. It needed a little more sweet and a little more spice, I didn't taste much of either. Overall, great chicken but could use a different or more flavorful sauce. Crispy Chicken Tacos The tacos came out looking good, all dressed up in a fresh fried tortilla shell. The chicken itself was kinda dry and didn't taste freshly made. Mushrooms lovers with amazing variety all combined together for a delicious bite. -Spicy scampi flatbread- rock shrimp, parsley, garlic, Calabrian chilis and parmigiano reggiano. It's literally having a seafood scampi but on a flatbread. Wow wow, favorite out of the two flatbread. Definitely recommend. Entrees, Manila clams and salt spring mussels tossed in spaghetti with Calabrian chilis and parsley. The flavors were excellent. Simple but very tasty. -Crispy gnocchi with cherry tomatoes, basil in a Parmesan fondue. It's alway a hit or miss for me but this was a hit. And the elk which was maybe a special. An ample pile dressed up in the center of a shallow bowl, with plenty of olive oil, as opposed to being slices merely laid flat on a plate. Mother's Day Was Ruined. And I Need the Owner to Know…read more Let me tell you something. I've worked in five-diamond restaurants. I've worked Applebee's got the pin to prove it. Fried chicken spots. Everything in between. So when I tell you what happened here, know that I'm not some customer who doesn't understand how restaurants work. I know exactly how they work. My best friend lives in Camarillo and honey, he has been raving about this place for months. Every time someone comes to visit, he brings them here. He made our Mother's Day reservations well in advance. Our party of six. This man has easily dropped thousands of dollars in this restaurant. He loves this place. Loved. We arrived early. Server was ok. Seated us at 11, full house, two-hour window we understood the assignment. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Everything came out hot and fast. We're laughing, talking, having the best time and then I look down at my plate. There is a bug. Crawling. Through my eggs. My son grabbed his phone and got the picture. My husband God bless him, shot up to find a manager because that's what you do. That's what any reasonable person does. He found her. Her name is Cheryl. And Cheryl said... "You should've taken it up with the server." Strike one. Then she walks over to our table with an attitude and before I can even hand her my plate, she looks at me and says, "How do you want your eggs?" Like I'm supposed to take the same food back. The food with the bug in it. I was stunned. Not just by the question by the energy. It was off putting. She was annoyed. Like somehow WE were the problem. My kids were horrified. My best friend, the man who loves this restaurant was completely embarrassed. I asked to look at the menu. I wanted something different. Reasonable, right? We waited. The server came back, completely in the dark, said something like "I guess something was wrong with your food?" Sweet kid. Felt terrible when we filled him in. I said I'd just take a burger. He said of course they'd remove the chicken and waffles. THEN he came back. "We're going to have to charge you for the burger." WTH, I thought he had lost his entire mind. He disappeared again, came back, apologized I believe he genuinely felt bad. This has happened before when I have been a server and a manager is more than happy to offer you another dish and take off the other one. But Cheryl? The manager? Never came back. NOT once. Instead, she made her rounds to every single table AROUND us. Laughing. Greeting people. Interacting with guests. For 15 to 20 minutes, we sat there and watched her deliberately avoid our table. And that's when it hit me the thing I didn't want to think. I looked around. Really looked around. And we were the only ones. WELL, I was the only one who was African American woman. Me and my kids. My bestie and my hubby are of European descent. I don't SAY that lightly. Honestly? It makes me sick to even say it. But I couldn't find another explanation. Neither could my friend, who sat straight up in his chair and saw it too up close and personal. He was angry. I had to calm everyone down and say this wasn't worth it. I canceled the burger. We left.
