Definitely a local hangout which you can feel if you are not a regular. You will consistently find a small group seated around the middle of the bar that appear to be locals. They convey a sense of entitlement by the way they act like they own the place and don't seem to be overly friendly unless they know you. Service is usually fair, but it is below average more often than above. Bartenders are nice but not in a hurry. It has an old school feel which is what attracted me in the first place. What can improve about this bar is the management. They are so out of touch with reality that it makes this bar painful. The staff on the other hand is very very pleasant. Located between Rite Aid and Trader Joe's next to a nail salon. Plenty of parking in the front and back. I went for happy hour with a few coworkers and I was a little surprised at first. Although considered a sports bar, it gives off a dive bar feel. There's a couple pool tables, some dart boards and TVs all around the place. I love the draft beer selection and I heard the food here was pretty good so I'll have to try the food next time. Seems like a lot of locals flock here which was intimidating since I was new, but I'll continue to roll on through to try and get that title of "a regular". I don't put a lot of expectations on bars and I've definitely experienced some shanty bars before but the service here was pretty good. Bartenders were nice and polite. This place used to be called the Pub 'n' Grub. That was the last time I was here. Friendly bartender, clean restrooms, and nice folks. One patron could see that my back was sore. He recommended that I ice it when I got home. Music from the jukebox was all over the place from country to speed metal. Drinks were cheap; three shots of tequila, two white wines, and one beer totaled less than $50. Seriously, everybody knows your name :) What most people don't expect is a Taco Tuesday that puts most local traditional Mexican restaurants to shame. Chef Scott's brilliant Jalapeño Blue Cheese Nachos are amazing , presented with a sour cream dipping sauce that complements the zesty spicy flavor. So good! But, in my two times going to pjs, there's a "regular" who is bossy, will treat you like you're scum of the earth and talk down to you. She doesn't work there I don't think, but if she is an employee the establishment shouldn't allow her to make others feel uncomfortable. That's bad business . Dive bar located in the back corner of the shopping center near trader joes. They have a blue sign and have parking in the back as well. Lots of activity going on. Pool tables with lots of serious business players ( they bring their own billiards gear). Darts and a modern Jukebox. Good food. PJs pub is alright. Mostly an older "regulars" bar, highlighted by cheap drinks and lots of pool tables; this place is definitely a dive bar. I wouldn't recommend coming here for a wild night, they don't tolerate any shenanigans, and the crowd will give you mean looks if you're having too much fun. Come here for a chilled weekend night to play some pool, and you'll probably have a good time. I probably won't be back, but you never know. I love this place! Sunday and Monday night karaoke, Saturday night open mic, plus billiards and darts. They have great IPAs and great cider both on tap. Their selection of alcohol is surprisingly large. The regulars are friendly, and the local college crowd (CLU) are always high spirited and fun to drink with. Oh PJ's what an amazing dive bar; the good times I've had here... been 86ed a few times. Always a good drunk, fun time. Definitely a great "regulars" spot, if you're lucky an older crowd (kids from CLU are... well kids and annoying). I love Barb, she is simply the sweetest bartender a regular (when i go) could have. Always fair, always gets you your bang for your buck and will always let you know she see's you and shell be right with you to take an order. Beth is also an amazing bartender !! Pretty great staff at this bar :) My friends love to come here and play pool but on Wednesday's you cant unless you're part of the APA pool league which I believe do both 8 ball and 9 ball tournaments at 9PM (i think), also kinda hard to get a table before their tournament because the people from pool league are "warming up". If you have never been to PJ's I suggest going on a Sunday night which is karaoke night or on a night on the eve of a holiday... good energy on those nights usually. Last but not least, stop and get food. The bar food is actually really really good! Your man on the grill if i'm not mistaken is still Paul. Usually the appetizer platter is a BOOM but any burger is great and even the grilled turkey swiss sandwich is really good. Definitely a great bar to visit. read more

This place offers the one thing Azars can't, dart boards. When I'm feeling edgy, I like to gather with my gang and throw darts with drunks. This place even lets Toppers Pizza deliver! Ugh. Can you say DIVE?? It's usually crowded on weekend nights, especially if a pool tournament is going on. Nearly every night I have been here (never my decision), at least one fight has broken out with beer bottles flying and those high tables being knocked over. Awesome. (Sarcasm.) If you've also come to play pool on one of these nights, be prepared to wait because this is the watering hole for the rowdy, Bud Lite drinkin', pool playin' elite of T.O. But fear not, because while you wait for a pool table, you can always cop a squat at the bar (if a seat is available) and be served by a lovely bartender with an intoxicating perfume of Aquanet and Camel filters. Otherwise, sit outside and have a smoke with a motley crew of bros, homies, rednecks, little punk kids and old broads. The only redeeming quality about this place is if you come here early in the day (preferably a weekday), it's actually quiet and you can play pool and have a beer in peace. Oh, and I recall their burger & fries being pretty decent. And for this reason, I will give PJ's 2 stars. Otherwise, this is a godforsaken, seedy T.O. dive that is completely devoid of the hole-in-the-wall charm some dives have. Ok, so there's one other review right now about Pj's and it's about the bartender being rude. I completely agree...BUT, you must learn to "wear her in"... She's a busy lady, ya know? She'll give you tude but you have to be good to her and before you know it she's good to you and she's someone who's good side you ought to be on. I agree, the juke box is a bit schizophrenic, playing "Jesus Take the Wheel" to "Salt Shaker" to "Sweet Child Of Mine" and of course "Strangers" because every 20-24 year old swears by that song these days. I only go here because it's the main "home" location in the pool league. As for the food, if you are craving delicious fried treats, this is the place to go... Also, around 10:30 pm, the bar becomes impacted with Cal Lutheran students, which to my shock look like they couldn't be a year older than 15...but apparently are. You can't have too high of expectations for a "sports pub" located in the corner of a strip mall next to Trader Joe's.... read more

Okay, this is the epitome of dive bars, but whenever I find myself in Thousand Oaks, it never disappoints. The only thing that stinks is the bank of electronic dart boards. I really wish they had a real one that operated. Also, be careful pool players, they don't joke around here. On a busy night you can expect to see several people bringing in their own pool sticks because they are that fancy. I have never tried the food, so I cant speak on that, however the drinks are just as one would expect. I do wish they had an IPA on tap, but alas one can't win it all at a dive bar.
