Was given two different install dates for each floor type. First install was for the rubber floor which happened without issue. Stan was my installer and he was GREAT. If that was the only installation, my review would be five stars. Installation of the carpet was to happen on 7/28 between 8am - 9am. Received a call at 9am that the installers truck broke down and he'd be here at noon. Noon comes and go without anyone showing up OR an update. Called them around 1pm and they say they found an installer and he's on his way. A crew of two guys show up, do a walk of the rooms & inform us we need to remove everything out of the closet due to the built-in inside the closet. We were told by the estimator/owner when we got a quote we could leave everything on the top rod of the closet, hence why we didn't remove everything. My husband starts pulling everything out of the closet & asking the installer questions about the installation inside the closet. He was frustrated that the plan changed but he's moving clothes out. The installers walk out without a word and never return. We didn't know what was going on so we call the store & they didn't seem to know either. Find out later the installer was "offended" by my husband. For what? No one knows. At this point I am offended by the installers unprofessionalism and disrespect. My husband did not yell, curse, or do anything that should to walk off the job. Gilford's response is they were taking him to a "nice dinner" to talk to him and would work on getting an installer for the following day and they'd call us with an update. They didn't and we ended up having to call them, again. Fast forward to Tuesday. We called around 11am because no update. They tell us an installer will be out "between 12 and 1" after another job. That time comes and goes without an installer or update. Text them for an update: he's finishing up and he's coming today. At 4:00pm when no update or installer shows, I call the office to be met with more rudeness and unprofessionalism. Rob starts yelling, talking over me, told me he doesn't care AND hung up on me. Apparently he didn't like that I'm frustrated with their missed commitments, lack of communication and unprofessionalism. Told me I'm "flipping out". I don't know who wouldn't be frustrated with the situation. Rob doesn't know how to deal with customers or de-escalate situations and made it worse than it already was. Installers show up at 5pm and don't leave until after 10pm. Still have to put everything back and set up beds in order to sleep so we don't go to bed until nearly midnight and I have to work the next day. Why wasn't our installation prioritized for that day since it was missed on the promised day? Why were we put off until the LAST appointment instead of the first? Again, no customer service. I've waited 6 weeks since our installation before writing this review to see if they'd reach out and apologize for their screw up and Rob's disgusting response towards me. Nothing. Not an email or a phone call. When the 2nd set of installers heard the story, they apologized, which I appreciated, but felt it was the owners that should have been making the apology. It was the first time these installers worked for Gilford. Why do they recognize the behavior was unprofessional but not the owners? I have more floors to do but I'll be looking for a company that doesn't berate customers when they want an update on missed appointments. Rob made it clear when he said he "doesn't care". It shows and I'll be giving my money to a company that does care.

I did not even talk about money with Carpet Outlet, maybe we could have come to some sort of agreement. Disappointed. Expensive repair in the end!

Rich sent out a guy to measure the spaces, and checked to see which samples had enough of a remnant for our needs. We put down a deposit to hold the carpet until the house was ready for the install. Fast forward from March to August: the house was ready for carpet install, and Rich got us scheduled in right away. The job was done quickly and professionally. The guys left the areas clean and ready for staging. Looks fabulous, and we are very pleased!

In the early 80's, I got a carpet remnant from Great Floors in octagon design bluish color, with foam back, I decided to call and ask if they could text me photos of such & such, provided colors, style that I need. Almost right away, I got a text back from one of their staff, and found one I really wanted, similar to the style as my company logo in the colors I like. We went there right away, and was able to have me cut enough material for our stairs. I mean ENOUGH, since we're matching designs. Very very happy with the purchase. Not only, my basement stairs looked elegantly rich, we have ENOUGH to carpet the top of the stairs, which is the hallway (just like before). That's like buying 2 for the price of one. We really wanted carpet that was soft and could also hold up well under ware and tear from a growing child. I'm a man who likes a deal, so naturally I wanted to shop around a bit. We looked at Paulson's ($$$$) beautiful products, but way out of budget. We looked at Marion's($$$) they had some deals on their clearance carpets, but we found the quality to be lacking. We checked out Home Depot($$-$$$) they had some reasonable prices, but they got you on the install. We went home thinking Depot was going to be our best bet, even though the carpet wasn't name brand. That night I did a search on Craigslist and that's when we came across Zakour's($$), never heard of them and only 1 review on Yelp but Google had some positive reviews on their furniture side of their business. We live on the Westside of Portland and it was a bit of a drive, but it was totally worth it! We met Harvey, who I believe is the owner, he is the nicest man and I really liked how I didn't get the whole used car salesman vibe. We told him what we were looking for and he made some suggestions with no pressure at all. The carpet my wife really liked was made by Mohawk which is a well known manufacturer of quality carpets, so I was nervous to ask what the price was. When I finally got around to asking the price of the carpet I had to ask twice cause the price was nearly half the cost of the others and it came with pad, tear out, and install. If something sounds to good to be ture, typically it is. We'll my wife said she felt a good vibe from Harvey so we scheduled a measurement for square footage. Harvey literally came over right after we left his business. Most of the house has wood floors, but he measured 960 sqft that needed to be carpeted and he gave us a quote then and there. We agreed half the money then and the other half after the install. He had to order the carpet and it only took a week to arrive, Harvey was really good about giving us phone calls to keep us updated on the install. I wasn't able to be home during the install, but my wife's Grandmother was there. She is the type of lady who has high expectations and is not afraid to give her opinions too, so she can be pretty critical. I was shocked when she said she was absolutely delighted with the installers. She said they were very clean and didn't cut any corners. If I know her, she probably hovered over the guys all day. Not only am I impressed with the quality, cost, customer service, but I am impressed that they impressed my Grandmother in law!
