Crown City Games is a cool gem in the Old Town Pasadena area. I came across a Pokémon TCG sign, went to the second floor of a building, and entered the store. The store is much bigger than expected and had products for gaming and card enthusiasts. There's plenty of tables that seem to welcome anyone to use when there's no special events, such as for model kit building. Another section had a huge variety of board games for purchase. The check-out area had some Pokémon cards and packs for sale. I will note it was hard to get a hold of someone working there because they were busy attending to folks purchasing Pokémon cards at large. It was great seeing them focused and helpful though. In terms of value, the prices were on par with other gaming/card stores I've visited in the past. Overall, I think this is a great place for game enthusiasts.

Stopped in to examine the wares and immediately got my world rocked off its axis! This is a table top RPG Mecca! The owner Nick was amiable, helpful and very down to earth with giving me the run down of Pasadena's newest Game shop. They've got it all! Warhammer 40K, MTG, Starwars EDGE and a ton of things in between! A ton of public tables to game on! Free to play! 5 bucks to reserve! Ya'll gotta check out Crown City Games!

Huge place with lots of tables for games. You can go in there and play their games or bring your own and use their space. The owner was super nice. Things are very clean. Great couches as well as chairs for everyone. They also sell board games and everything you would need to paint minis. Gender neutral bathrooms! There are cheap public parking lots of street parking. Convenient places nearby if you get hungry. I would highly recommend this place!

Visited the game shop for a special event and would have to give such awesome ratings. The diversity of game options they had for war hammer and Family games was something I appreciated. I have kiddos one 9yo and 13yo and they both were able to enjoy. They also have some comfy couch seats. Restrooms were clean++ They also offer membership perks which is great an option. We will definitely be going back.

Staff here is great. They're friendly and very informative which is always a nice sight to see for newcomers. In the back, you'll find many tables where people visit to play all types of games. Ranging from board games, cards, DnD, and list goes on. Best part is that you can try all types of games for free. My wife and I visited with some friends and we had such a wonderful time playing board games. Time flew by so fast as we were all having fun. I'd say the tables could use some cleaning but very spacious overall. Parking is out in the back but it's pretty limited. Street parking is also available but watch out for time slots. Overall, very happy about Odyssey Games, very much a must visit spot if you love board games. Place can get packed as you'll often find plenty of people here. Love to visit again soon to try new board games.

I asked, "do you have a particular boardgame I'm looking for?". She said, "i'll check" and put me on hold. 5+ minutes goes by, still on hold, so i hung up and called again. Took 2 calls to get through and the same lady picked up. I asked politely "can u pls check for this particular boardgame i'm looking for" and she immediately said, "it says 'out of stock'. " Me thinking (what is "it")? Anyways, I was in the area and stopped by to take a look for myself and what do you know?! The particular boardgame i was looking for WAS there. I bought it but didn't even mention to the big Torta it was me who called just a few minutes ago or I didn't even call her out on it. Poor customer service. Seemed like that big Torta didn't even want to be there and seemed annoyed when in-store customers asked or even bought any product.

They're a lot more Michaels stores and this might be the first integration of Hobby lobby here in this area. I know there is one out in West Covina, and that might be the next closest location, but that's still quite a distance away. Everything is very well organized here. It does feel a little bit dated inside, even though this is a newer store. I can't remember if they took over a mervyns or Sears or something but everything is very well organized, and very easy to find where things are. The checkout process is a little bit of a bottleneck. Maybe it's not easier to do self check out kiosks otherwise they would've done it already. On the way out, there was a lady that was upset because the registers are staggered in a specific way, and she either overshot it and I didn't understand the flow of things so she was upset about how she wasn't able to check out yet The immediate area right outside Hobby lobby is a little bit chaotic. A lot of cars and lots of people are trying to park here so sometimes the directional flow things proves to be a little bit challenging for people. It is a bit hectic so don't drive too fast.

A pretty good reproduction of an original Gauguin that happens to be in a nearby Pasadena art museum. Well, we paid a visit to Hobby Lobby, as we were picking up some things from nearby Whole Foods. The store occupies Sear's old location on Foothill. It's a huge place and designed to get you to walk around for things as signage isn't plentiful or helpful. Shelves are high so unless you are very tall you need to search around, guess they took that cue from Costco, it works if you aren't in a hurry. We were happy to find they had a framing department and also a fabric area, which, since the sad closing of JoAnne's, I was glad to see for the ghost of my mother who enjoyed sewing. I'm focusing on the Framing department and the friendly efficient gentleman in charge of that department, his name is Theo. He was helpful and friendly from the start. Their framing prices are posted as 50% off, which sounded great, but I guess the original prices need to be considered before seeing this as a good deal. Well, we checked on one style which had always been our original style we felt appropriate for this art work. We visited Tahiti a couple of years ago and and saw some Gaugain copies framed in a similar style, it works very well, so we inquired as to cost and estimated the size as we didn't have the painting with us. It was very reasonable compared to the frame shops we have checked over the decades, yes, decades! It was a very fair price, not knowing the quality of the work was something to consider, but Theo was very efficient and knew his products and was very meticulous. We could tell we were in very good hands. We were quoted, less the 50%, a little under $100 before tax. A very fair price. We were given a "finish by date", and 5 days before that date I gave a call to check on status, I was told it would be done in a couple of days. I was surprised and happy to receive a message later that day from Theo that our framing job was finished and available for pick up. We got over there that evening and Though Theo was gone then, a nice young lady got our finished product for us. It looked very nice. She walked us and the painting up to the lone cashier, as that is their policy, and we waited in line to pay. They did open another register as the line was about 6 people deep. I'm not going to get into their company politics, but over all it was a positive experience, especially thanks to Theo and his friendly, knowledgeable service and framing skill. Thanks Theo!
