I found this gem on an article of places you have to stay in Arkansas. Oh my gosh! This is the…read moreperfect deep woods haven and completely unplugged from the world. Of four cabins, we booked the Longbow cabin. It was a no brainer really because it has its own private waterfall and natural pool. The owners live on the property. He owns 1400+ acres. After checking in with Ben and Warwick (his dog), we drove the 15 min trek to our cabin. Some steep and rocky spots so it's suggested you have a truck or SUV. My Tucson did fine with my AWD. We had the opportunity to visit two of the other cabins and I took photos. The Bois d'Arc and Sovereign cabins. Neither of these have water features but beautiful views of the woods. We arrived at our Longbow cabin which is built into the rock bluffs. Some walls are actual rock walls. You spot the waterfall immediately. Take lawn chairs as you will want to sit on the shore, maybe even with your feet in water! The water was ice cold but refreshing on a hot day. The water is clear and you must stand in the waterfall!! Do it!! And you are alone. No one will bother you so feel free to skinny dip. I sure did! A deck area of stone is under the bluff and has a hammock, patio furniture and a grill. Stairs lead up to the cabin from there, though there is also an entrance in the other side. Inside the cabin-like I said rock walls and stone floors (take house shoes!) there is a small kitchen with full refrigerator, stove top (no oven), toaster oven, microwave, double sink and dishwasher. All dishes and cookware are provided. There was nothing extra I needed to bring though I wish I would have taken paper plates for smaller meals and snacks. Take lots of paper towels and bottled water! The bathroom has a small sink/vanity and walk in shower. The living area is really just a couch. It was the one "con" in my book because it wasn't really that comfortable (so glad I had a blanket to place over the cold vinyl) and it isn't really made to lay down on. We improvised with the kitchen chairs and pillows to both fit comfortably while we watched a movie. There is a small flat screen and DVD player. No satellite or cable. So take a DVD if you want that down time, and you may need it if it rains. There is a radio/CD (I only had one CD in my car!) and we could only get one country station to dial in. The kitchen table was a glass top with two chairs in front of a large glass window with the perfect view of the falls. Up a set of stairs goes to the loft where one queen sized bed is. Be careful not to hit your head! Low ceiling but some windows that also look out to the falls. There is a light switch behind the bed on the shelves that lights up the waterfall at night. A must! There is a de-humidifier as well as AC and fans. It stayed plenty cool when it was 90 outside. We never left once we got there but really, there is no where to go. You are 30 min from Mountain View and that's after a 15 min drive to the road. Why leave? We cooked and grilled all our meals (take in all groceries). Be sure to check their website for a list of what you may want to take with you. We spent our days at the falls swimming, simply gazing at the waterfall that was so mesmerizing, laying in the hammock, playing cards and hiking. In the evening we built campfires while lighting up the falls and watched a couple movies before bed. There are several trails, most moderate. It's quite a rocky hike. After seeing one snake, it makes you skiddish. We also had a nightly visitor we will call Rocky. A raccoon. He will come at night after dark wanting food. He's a wild animal so don't hand feed him but you can tell he's been eating good for a long time and knows the routine. While named a resort, you are "roughing it" to an extent. It's crazy how packed my car was with food, coolers, chairs, extra linens and pillows, but it was truly amazing and I can't wait to go back. It's 4 hours from Bentonville. The Bushmaster cabin also has water with a creek that flows by on some huge rocks but only when there's been some rain. It was pretty dry when we hiked by.

I rarely give a 1 star, but I almost did with this one…read more LOCATION: First of all Richards Canoe Rental says it is on the Eleven point River, it is not. It is two miles from the river. So there is no camping and playing at the river, without driving to the river. THE OWNER: As long as you are doing it Jerrys way there isn't much of a problem. Jerry is the owner and an older man who doesn't keep much of a filing system so he doesn't know what he has told you in the past and it is a miracle if you arrive and has your reservations. We stayed here with a large group this past weekend. Several of us used the motel style rooms. And the rest camped. Let me tell you. If you are staying here you need to use his services for something, the campground is made for those who use his canoe services. He is very grumpy and yelled at us several times for absolutely nothing. We actually all had all brought our own rafts and tubes. We paid $30 to port the rafts and $5 a night for each tent and $40 a night for the motel rooms. Jerry yelled at some of the group because we were not using his canoes and that he wasn't making any money off of us and told us that he usually didn't deal with rafts because they were too slow and a load of crap. (In total he made off of us $230 porting, $80 camping, and $160 for motel rooms=total $470 bucks) The grandsons and his workers however are very nice and did a great job. Everything is great unless you have to talk to Jerry. They tied our rafts onto the trailer (with our help and our step-stool, and cinches, lol) and put us in at Greer at 10:20am. Half way through, at Turners Mill, Jerry was there doing something and he saw our group and ordered us out because there was no way we were going to make it to Whitten on time. It was about 3:30. We had already paid him $30 bucks a family (total of $180) to come get us at Whitten and we were not done for the day. Most of the families floated on, but some were so fearful of his attics that they got out. We had told them we wanted a 6pm take out- we made it at 6:40, which was the same time as other canoes that were rented from his service. So the yelling was unwarranted. When they picked us up at Whitten they showed favor for the people that had been camping with them for twenty years and put them in the school bus, each with their own seat. They loaded our group of 23 into the 12 passenger van. We each had a kid on our lap. It was not fun and illegal. As for the campground, it was fine with lots of camp rings, and right off Hwy 19. But it is essentially an open field next to the canoe rentals. The forest is beautiful though. Remember there is no water nearby though. The river is 2 miles away. The toilets are horrendous and the showers are scary. The motel on site that we rented for $40 a night was well worth it compared to our sons and friends camping. It only consists of the basic necessities, but the bed was comfortable both nights. And the shower was hot. Overall, I would tell you to stay anywhere else you can unless you have known Jerry forever and you are one of the few he really likes. If you are not, he doesn't seem to like any strangers. Oh, I also forget to say that someone in our party had no light in their motel room and he went and asked for a light bulb and Jerry told him, "No!" and mumbled about people stealing light bulbs. I WOULD HOWEVER, suggest the Eleven Point River because it was definitely the best river I have ever floated and the feeder springs are absolutely beautiful.

They offer rudimentary camping on site, a pretty rough bathhouse and free firewood (if you are floating with them). They have always been courteous and gotten us exactly what we asked for. Cant wait for our next float down the 11 point. It will be with Richards!
