Do not go anywhere else for transmission work. My wife's Lexus RX350 had the transmission go out at around 110,000 miles. I know, I know, Lexus's aren't supposed to do that, but it did. After looking up reviews online I came across Crown Valley Transmission. They were very honest with me and helped guide me as to what the best option was for solving this issue. We can either replace very expensive parts and hope that it fixes the issue or replace the entire transmission with a brand new factory tranny. We ended up going with the later option. I needed someone to take a look at the transmission on my 70 Chevelle SS. Its got a Muncie M-22, which in the muscle car world, is a pretty famous/rare kind of trans. I didn't want just any shop taking it out & taking it apart. After looking around on Yelp for a while, I saw that Crown Valley Transmissions had some classic cars reviews on their Yelp page. I emailed Ed & he got right back to me. Fast forward a bit, I drop my car & Ed has his own 64 Chevelle on one of the lifts in his shop. That's a good sign for someone like me who's looking for a shop that knows classic cars. Turns out I needed a bunch of stuff, trans internals, a new clutch & flywheel, etc. I gave Ed the green light & about 10 days later, everything was done. Now here's where you know you've picked the right vendor. That's right, its when something goes wrong. I pick up the car, drive it home & notice the next morning, there's a new leak. I email Ed a few days later & he says, if its the trans, don't worry we'll take care of it. Well, turns out a seal wasn't completely tight. Crown Valley was my 2nd opinion, after my car dealership insisted I needed an entire transmission overhaul, immediately. Ed explained to me that my 1999 Miata is simply showing its age. He told me the odd noises which had concerned me were most likely attributable to parts being more worn or "soft", as he described them. He did not recommend spending money for a new transmission in a car that, absent funny noises in reverse and an occasional delay getting into 1st gear when cold, runs pretty well. He did, of course, tell me to stay attuned to changes and increased or more consistent issues. I drove away feeling richer and, frankly, proud of the care I've taken of my little 2-seater. May she last another year before I need to take her back to Ed. I should also note that each time I called the shop, Ed answered his phone and was both polite & informative. Absolutely tremendous. I brought my work truck in that needed a torque converter. They quoted me a very fair price and completed the work very quickly. The truck runs excellent now. They remove some of the items extra weight from my truck so it could fit on their lift. They put everything back nice and neater than I brought it in .
