I recently had a stay here and just wanted to give my compliments to the man who helped us at the front desk. I believe his name is EJ. He was super knowledgeable and friendly, and made us feel welcome. Great customer service goes a long way! As for the location, it is right off the freeway. Every night we stayed there, there were super loud cars zooming past throughout the night. We stayed in a street facing room so the noise was definitely noticeable. If you're a light sleeper, I would definitely keep this in mind before booking here. read more

Stayed here for one night for a wedding nearby. It's in between the South Coast Plaza and The Lab Anti-Mall that both have plenty of delicious food and shopping. The hotel is right off the freeway but don't worry it's not noisy at all. We were able to check in 1.5 hour earlier than check in and it was free of charge, which was amazing. We booked the standard king sized room and it had plenty of space. It was very clean. Water pressure was okay and rooms temperature was well regulated with the air conditioner. I'd definitely stay here again. Only downside was that we had to pay $30 a day for parking. Not sure why. They had their own private parking lot and garage. But I looked at a few hotels on the area and they also charged $25-30 a day. read more

Convenient location, easy access. Nice hotel room and staff. I spent one night using my IHG credit card free night. The room was comfortable, but I found the pillows generally uncomfortable. I was told I had an ocean view room by the front desk. It was not, but that wasn't important to me. I had booked a king room, and i wasn't concerned with the view. Breakfast was decent. Stayed at the Crowne Plaza Costa Mesa for one night for a work event the next morning. The gentleman working the front desk (Alexander?) was welcoming and very kind. We bonded over our Filipino-ness. The king room was spacious and very clean. Lots of work space. The bathroom had lots of countertop space and clean smelling bath products. The shower head was a bit confusing at first to get the water temperature just right. The king bed was comfy and I'm glad hotels like this one use supportive pillows that are proportionate to the size of the bed--not those weird soggy squares that provide zero neck support. The hotel is also within walking distance of a lot of great restaurants. I'll stay here again the next time I'm in the area for a work event. read more

Would not recommend. I stayed here in late 2024 for a work trip. There was housekeeping at the time. In 2025- they only do housekeeping every third night. But they don't tell you that until after you've asked why your room hasn't been cleaned. Yesterday I was told that you can request house keeping 24hrs in advance. I requested that they do house cleaning as my trashcan was full, and I was out of towels. Even after they committed to doing it, they still didn't. When you pay 200+ a night plus $30 per night for parking you would hope that you don't have to make your own bed. I knew I would be working a lot of hours, so I particularly chose a location that was close to the freeway without a ton of amenities. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Had they made an effort the two days in a row that I called and asked to clean and both times it was ignored. They did bring me towels which I appreciate but it they did not empty my garbage... Even though I asked two days in a row. Nowhere on their website was the policy that they only clean every three days, it was not mentioned at check-in, and it was not mentioned in the multiple text messages they sent the first couple of days asking me about my stay. They stopped texting me and asking when I asked why they didn't pick up my garbage or replace towels. They charged me an extra $20 dollars to rent a microwave for my stay. But they forgot to bring it and even though I reminded them multiple times, I didn't get it until I was already well into my second day, even though I had called ahead of time, texted ahead of time and let them know at checkout that I needed it for a medical reason. Also as a warning, the woman who works in the morning or early mornings has a man with her most of the time that just stands around and just watches as she does interactions. When checking out, I saw him in his car with it running for 20 minutes in the parking lot with all the lights on. As a female, traveling alone, it made me very uncomfortable. For him to be standing at the desk, just staring at me, and then when I walked into the parking lot his body turned towards me and he just stared as I got ready to leave. He did this two days in a Personally, I will go to the Doubletree across the road on my next visit. As well as recommend everyone go somewhere else. read more

I arrived earlier than expected and was thankful that I was able to check into my room right away. The process was fast and straightforward, and the staff members were welcoming. The hotel has been updated to some extent with a refresh, but it still shows signs of wear and could benefit from a good overhaul to really make it stand out. The lobby was inviting, and I was surprised by the amenities the property had to offer. The Fireside Restaurant/Bar, located just off the lobby, is very inviting and has plenty of decor for all my social media creators. The swimming pool and jacuzzi are located outside, and the area has high potential. Overall, I'd rate my stay a 3.5. The room was on point and comfortable & the service from the front desk was great. I'm leaning toward 4 stars because of the exceptional customer service, the hotel's convenient location for my needs, and the bar/restaurant (when open). However, the much-needed refresh-refresh... yes, I said it twice--keeps it at a 3. I used Ride share so didn't have to park, but it's ~$30/night so consider that when choosing this place. read more

I am down grading only because of the 30 bucks per night to park. WTH, If they have a security guard he is never to be seen. They dont have an Airport shuttle. Why the high price to park? Hotel rooms are nice and clean. They don't service everyday unless requested. The hallways need some love. Food and Beverage at the bar are far below norms. No real love for the Elite Members. It consistently delivers a 5-star experience every time. The entire front desk team is outstanding -- truly all great staff. A special thank you to Alexander, Alex, and Jocelyn, but honestly everyone we've encountered has been welcoming, professional, and efficient. They consistently make check-in smooth and ensure we feel valued as returning guests. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and very spacious. After long workdays, it's great coming back to a quiet, relaxing space. The beds are cozy, and the layout gives plenty of room to unwind. We also really enjoy the on-site restaurant and bar. It's convenient, has a great atmosphere, and makes evenings easy when we don't want to go far. The pool and hot tub area are another highlight -- clean, well-maintained, and perfect for relaxing after a busy day. The location is ideal for business travel. It's very close to John Wayne Airport and just minutes from South Coast Plaza, which is great for dining and shopping. Overall, this hotel consistently checks all the boxes for us -- friendly staff, comfortable and spacious rooms, excellent amenities, and a convenient location. Stayed here over the holidays and had a great experience with the front desk staff and breakfast attendants. They have a great selection of fresh fruit etc for breakfast - way more than your traditional hotel breakfast. Unfortunately I believe the room I stayed in has mold. I realized I was experiencing the exact same symptoms / reactions that I experienced when I lived in a house that was found to have black mold. I think it should be inspected /tested since exposure to black mold can be extremely detrimental to your health / hard to recover from with lasting effects. (I was on the first floor right next to the office that's for rent) . I'd check the bathroom - thinking shower head or behind the shower walls, all vents and the rest of the main room including the window /window sill and AC unit to be safe. read more

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Costa Mesa over Thanksgiving weekend and overall had a really good experience. Check-in was a breeze -- we arrived early and, as an IHG cardholder, were able to check in ahead of time with no issues. Parking was also discounted to $20, which was a nice perk. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming. We were given the option of 2 drink vouchers or IHG points; we chose the drink vouchers and also received bottled water at check-in. The hotel is well-kept and clean, though you can notice a bit of wear in the room. The heated pool was a pleasant surprise -- it was warm and empty, even during Thanksgiving weekend. Location is excellent: tons of food options nearby (Mitsuwa and lots of great Asian spots), and it's extremely close to South Coast Plaza, The Camp, and other popular areas. The reason for removing one star is the noise. We could hear our neighbors in the middle of the night, and since it was cold, the AC would shut off after reaching the temperature, making the outside noise even more noticeable. Surprisingly, it was noisier than our stay in Times Square, New York. It was tough to sleep, so I definitely recommend requesting a room not facing the freeway -- it's very loud and you won't be able to rest. Aside from the noise, it was a great stay overall. Wheelchair accessibility is a little appalling here. Why do the handicap parking spots lead to a set of stairs on the sidewalk unless you go in the road? The hallway is paved with a deep-set carpet difficult to self-propel on and there are thick, inch tall lips between every doorway. - atrocious tipping practice at breakfast - For whoever complained about lack of complimentary breakfast here...you actually had a better time not needing to deal with this atrocious tipping behavior. Plus the price sucks.. you are paying $14.99 for continental breakfast, and $10 extra for scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, pancake, and potatoes. Totally not worth. There are tons of good restaurants close by.. Let's say I liked my stay here: the room was clean, the fitness center had everything I needed, and the hotel was old but fine. However, they have a super horrible tipping practice at breakfast. It's interesting how I've already paid for breakfast online, but I still have to tip for some service that doesn't exist. Upon entering their restaurant for breakfast, I gave them the vouchers and the server (an older Mexican guy) asked what drinks we wanted. Then we grabbed a seat and that was it. He didn't come back again or refill our drink or whatever. Later I found out you could also grab your own drink. Then he came back with a bill stating two vouchers used and no charges, but I have to leave a tip. I tipped them $5 for the imaginary service in cash. The next day, the same guy didn't look so happy to see me. He told us to just sit anywhere in a rude tone. Later he came back after I grabbed my drink, so we told him we were good. Then he randomly grabbed some chairs and told us to sit there like he's serving us, but that wasn't the case since I didn't want to sit there. We sat there regardless. His tone during the whole conversation was rude and aggressive. It was super uncomfortable for us. Again, they gave me the bill. Unlike last time, they calculated the tax this time, and included the suggested tip amount starting with 18%. No way in hell I will tip that much for this fucked up service and aggressive tone. Again I tipped $5 cash and left. I didn't eat breakfast there for the 3rd day even though I paid for it online. I'd be much happier not seeing that Mexican guy giving me attitude just because I don't want to tip him for something he doesn't deserve. I honestly think this hotel needs to change the whole breakfast process to include one-time paper trays and just let people enjoy their breakfast at ease. On the other hand, the first gentleman that helped me at check in was super nice. I believe it's Alexander in other reviews. I think this hotel will be a better place if they give Alexander a raise and remove the other guy. Btw the AC here is super old so it's super loud. It kept me up the first night as it was on and off for some reason. Pro tip: don't eat breakfast here. It's not worth paying for. McDonald's is right next to the hotel.. they also smile at you instead of giving you attitude. Pro tip 2: don't come here if you rent a car. They charge $30/night for uncovered parking. This review is only for the pool. I used resortpass to get a pass for the day. The check in was easy they were very friendly at front desk and gave us water bottles. They also said food and drink was available at poolside and we can order via pool phone. However when I ordered they said they couldn't take out food because they didn't have staff and so everytime I ordered something I had to go inside restaurant which was inside lobby to pickup. This didn't completely ruin our time but it did suck to have to keep going back and forth. The pool wasn't very big and also noticed not very clean. Will likely choose a different pool to attend next time. read more

My husband booked me a room for a few nights as a staycation for me to unwind and have some solo time. After being dropped off, I entered the hotel lobby and was immediately greeted by Javier at the front desk who checked me in and ensured I had everything I needed for a peaceful stay. He even gifted me with a free drink voucher which was kind. I was on the fourth floor with a room that overlooked the pool. My room was spacious, clean, and exactly what I was looking for during my time away from home. The bed was comfortable and the sheets soft. I loved that the room had plenty of space to spread out, including a desk to work on. The bathroom was also spacious with a large vanity and shower that had a nice rain shower head. The water pressure was great and the temperature got hot which I loved so much on these chilly days. Every time I walked past the front desk I was greeted with a polite smile and welcome from staff. It was a great feeling! I definitely recommend this hotel for any need whether it's a staycation, work event, or travel. Restaurant: I came in for dinner Friday night. Seating was open so I chose a high top table across from the bar. Beto greeted me and wiped down my table. After giving me a few minutes to look at the menu he returned to take my order. I was between the nachos and tacos and he said both were great. I opted for the nachos with chicken. They arrived quickly and were ok. Not the best nachos I've ever had, but also not the worst. Beto did a great job checking on me and ensured I had everything I needed. He was very friendly and thanked me for dining. I definitely recommend stopping by the bar for a Beto beverage and warm welcome if you are staying here. Breakfast: I came back Saturday morning for breakfast and was welcomed by Adriana who had a sweet smile. She sat me and took my drink order. Roberto delivered my drinks and took my breakfast order. I arrived around 10:30 so the initial breakfast rush was over. I ordered avocado toast and a side of eggs. Both were excellent. The avocado toast was served on a sourdough baguette with sliced cherry tomatoes and everything but the bagel seasoning on top. It was yummy!! Roberto was closing the bar down but didn't make me feel rushed at all. He even brought me a cup with fresh hot water to take with me when I was ready to leave. Adriana also stopped by to make sure everything was going well. Excellent friendly service again!!! Great work team! Javier helped me extend my stay another night. He is efficient and very welcoming. I always try and stay at IHG hotels. They usually are great. I was greeted by the 2 staff behind the desk. Check in went like a breeze. But $30 for parking? Thats crazy too me. They have an area to buy snacks, drinks etc in the lobby and you scan it to add to room for payment...very convenient. The room was nice. Until I looked up in the shower and saw that big square patch. It's like it was thrown in to hurry up. The water pressure was weak and it kept going back and forth from cold to hot. Charming hotel. Near restaurants and easy to get to from the freeways. We stayed one night, but I loved it so much that I wished I could've stayed longer. Comfy beds, snuggly pillows! Large shower! Clean towels and sheets! Most important of all, it was amazingly quiet. No slamming doors or barking dogs. Kids running amok in the halls. The staff was attentive and super friendly. We had a delicious, hearty breakfast served up hot by the on-site restaurant team. The team quickly greeted us and took our orders. This is my second stay at Crowne Plaza Costa Mesa. Stayed here for a night for a wedding planning event my fiancé and I had to attend the next day. We had to check in quite late - around 9 pm - as we were coming from out of town, but Alexander at the front desk was exceptional and made us feel welcome, which was really nice especially after a 3 hour drive. He was very accommodating and happily answered all our questions. I usually run into less than enthusiastic front desk staff late at night, but Alexander was great, professional, and attentive! This hotel is definitely great for its price and its location (close to South Coast Plaza Mall) and the staff is definitely always pleasant. The room is nice as well. **So I had to edit my review because I found out that I was charged for items on my bill that I didn't order. I called the hotel and I explained to the worker over the phone about the erroneous charges. He said they will investigate and have either the front desk manager or the head kitchen chef call me back. After a couple days, I never heard back so I called them back. The manager, Alex, said he was never told of my situation and that this was the first he was hearing of it. He investigated quickly and responded by saying they would remove the charges. When I asked what had happened, I was told another person staying there had bad handwriting and had written my room number instead of their own (wrote a 2 instead of an 8) when dining at the restaurant. Good to know that's all it takes to "pay" when dining at the Crowne Plaza. So below was my initial review, but now disappointed because I asked the staff if there was any additional chargers during checkout and he had said no. I recently stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Costa Mesa to attend a conference nearby. Our plane landed in the morning and we arrived prior to the check-in time of 3pm. The front staff was polite upon arrival and I asked to check-in early. At first, I was told there were no rooms available yet, but then, the staff said he was able to give me a complimentary upgrade (because I was a member), and let me check-in early! This was a huge relief as it allowed me to put my stuff away and prepare for the conference. I stayed in room 342, which had a king-sized bed and a sofa with a pull-out bed (which I did not use). The room was clean upon entering and all supplies were adequately stocked. The room came with a mini refrigerator and a TV with Showtime channels. The remote control was a bit sticky and they didn't have one channel I wanted to watched, but there were plenty of other cable channels. The bathroom was clean and orderly as well. On one of the evenings, I had some food and drink from the restaurant and bar area in their outdoor patio, which was pretty nice. I mainly had chicken wings, salad, and an angry orchard...all were really good. The hotel does not provide a complimentary breakfast, but you can order food at the restaurant for charge. Upon checkout, there was a short wait, but the checkout process was smooth. They didn't charge extra for checking in early, which was a huge plus, and one of the main reasons for the good rating. They also held my luggage for an hour without any issue. There was no room service the two nights I stayed, but I didn't mind or need it. Overall, my stay at the Crowne Plaza in Costa Mesa was comfortable and customer service was excellent. read more

I was ready to use this hotel to book all future sales team visits. When booking rooms for 2 Japanese suppliers I thought the customer service was great. However, once my bosses credit card statement came through, I noticed we were charged for a late check in fee. When making the reservation I was told notes had been added to the reservation that they would be checking in late. Clearly, one reservation was submitted correctly and one was not, resulting in one late fee on the card only used to *reserve* the rooms. While the customer service agent agreed that it was probably entered incorrectly, she refused to refund the charge. They let $150 charge stop them from getting quarterly consistent bookings with our company. Good riddance! read more

I booked a two-night stay at this hotel but had to check out after the first night because my room was infested with cockroaches. They were crawling around at night, and it was impossible to relax or feel comfortable. When I reported it to management, they asked me for a photo -- but as anyone who's dealt with roaches knows, they don't exactly pose for pictures. I expected better cleanliness and customer care from a hotel at this price point. Hopefully management takes this seriously and addresses the pest issue so future guests don't have the same experience. read more

The stay was close where I wanted to be however, myself and two other guest in my party woke up with itching. Looks like the room was clean for visual purposes but not actual clean. The air quality in the room was poor. My party woke up with stuffy nose, almost like allergies and ended up having to take zyrtec. Looking at the vent (photo), it appears it needs to be cleaned. In the bathroom, houskeeping didn't clean up an apparent alcohol bottle (photo) so it makes me question if they can miss something this big, they're likely missing the smaller things that can affect someone's health. I also thought it was weird for a hotel to not have toothbrush, toothpaste, or minor amenities for it's guests. Ended up having to pay over $5 for toothpaste. read more

Check in was easy and fast. I arrived late at night around 10 PM, lobby is great and looks nice. Rooms are nice, except if you look closely at the walls, baseboards, ceilings, and tile grout- it could definitely use a refresh as they are dirty or stained. $30 for overnight parking.... Annoying and unnecessary. $15 for continental breakfast and $25 for continental + extra (eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes). Not worth the money for the quality (I didn't eat breakfast but from what I could tell, the food is subpar). Overall, the stay was quite comfortable and they were able to extend my late checkout to 3 PM. read more

Great hotel in a fantastic location here in Costa Mesa. Was completing some training/work related things at Huntington Beach, and this hotel is located very close to SNA OC airport, as well as to MANY great restaurant options just down the street within walking distance. There are probably about 30+ restaurants just a few blocks down so the options are awesome if you want to get out of the hotel or if you don't have a vehicle. Parking is fine - there's a garage attached if the front desk area parking is limited. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Beds are solid and everything is fairly well maintained. Bathrooms are modern and renovated, although in the 2 rooms I was in over 2 weekends, there are definitely some baseboard water damage spots that seem pretty universal in many of the rooms. Not a big deal. Front desk staff is VERY friendly and tries their best to be helpful and making your stay a positive one. We had a very large group here for training but the staff was accommodating w/ our logistics and our check in and check out. read more
