While the shop is small, they stock all of the essential art supplies (brands like STABILO, POSCA, and DecoColor) so customers can be more intentional with what they want to buy. The store requires ID checks for paint marker purchases. In addition, the shop also carries a large selection of Asian art materials for calligraphy (e.g., square paper, calligraphy brushes, calligraphy books, ink stones, black sumi ink, brush hangers, etc). Apparently students from USC who take calligraphy courses come here to purchase their supplies. Overall this is a decent shop for anyone looking to restock art supplies or buy calligraphy materials. P.S. - There is metered street parking in front of the store, but there are also few free designated parking spots behind the shop. Walk in here and you can smell the ambition, acrylic, and caffeine. It's like stepping into a time capsule where brushes still matter, ink still stains, and creativity doesn't come with a subscription fee. The value here and the prices were super reasonable. I came here with my draftsman, a guy who still draws by hand -- a dying breed in a world that runs on Ctrl+Z. Watching him walk these aisles was like watching a monk in a cathedral. Every shelf, every pen, every tube of paint is curated chaos. And the best part? The staff actually care. They know the difference between gouache and watercolor -- and they don't judge you for mispronouncing it. Friendly service, clean restrooms (a small miracle in Los Angeles), and a selection so deep it could inspire Picasso's ghost to start over. From sketchbooks to sculpting tools, markers to mat cutters, they've got everything you need to make something real -- or at least look like you tried. Blick's been around since 1911, and this Beverly Blvd location has kept L.A.'s art scene supplied through every phase -- from punk flyers to NFT hangovers. It's an institution, and it deserves to stay that way. Blick Art Materials is a love letter to real art in a copy-paste world. The service is friendly, the aisles are inspiring, and the supplies are top-notch. If you make anything with your hands, your heart, or even just a stubborn sense of nostalgia -- support this place. Because when shops like this vanish, so does a little bit of the soul of Los Angeles. Support this place -- or someday the only "art supplies" left will be ring lights. Blick is where real artists shop while influencers pretend to paint.

It feels like a calm sanctuary from the stressful bustling of life outside. I appreciate the high quality of the materials in stock. Everything seems very thoughtful. I finally admitted to myself that I probably won't teach myself with just my books anytime soon, so I recently scheduled a lesson with the owner, Kat. She charges $40 for an hour, which I found very reasonable for her expertise. She helped me select materials, explaining what works best for beginners. Throughout our lesson, she was very patient and thorough. She let me take little videos to reference later. I left the shop with the beginnings of a scarf and a smile on my face. I really look forward to scheduling another lesson after I practice what I've learned so far!

I dragged my boyfriend out here for my birthday and it was so much fun! They have a good selection of cute charms ranging from food charms, characters charms (Pokémon, Sanrio, Disney, etc.), seasonal charms, and more to fit a variety of aesthetics. The staff was really helpful with guiding us through the process since it was our first time and patient with us when we were indecisive. There are so many options of items to decorate, cream colors, and charms. We spent a good amount of time just deciding what we wanted. It was such a fun experience even for my boyfriend who wouldn't have picked this activity otherwise. It's a cute small business with the cutest atmosphere perfect for a girls date out. It can be a little pricier of an activity but totally worth it and I would love to come back again to decorate something else! Pro Tip: After sanding down your item, layout your charms to plan where you want things to go and take a picture so you can reference it again after you pipe the glue!

Luckily, when I went the store wasn't busy and walk-ins are welcome. With that, we were able to decorate. Parking situation is a bit tough depending on when you go. There is street parking if you get lucky. Just circle around a bit if you have trouble. You do not need reservations too since walk-ins are welcome. My boyfriend and I decided to decorate top loaders for our Pokemon cards and honestly, when I compare this place to other deco places, I will say other ones are better. The reason being they offer unlimited colors and charms you can put on your art pieces. Here, they limit you to either one or two creams (the colors of "icing") and charms too depending on what you purchase. Every extra charm purchase is $0.50. With that, this deco place was so fun but I would prefer them not making their stuff limited in quantity to creams and charms. Staff was nice too and the prices were okay. Like I said, if it was unlimited, it would be worth it but since it's not, to me at least it wasn't worth it.
