We tried the Boston Fish Market for my birthday dinner this year, and had a pretty good experience…read more It was on a Wednesday and the restaurant was not busy. We were seated promptly in the formal dining room which was nicely decorated. Our semi-circular booth was spacious and comfortable. There were different sections in the restaurant that were more casual, tailored to the different tastes of the clients. Overall, food was delicious and portions were huge. I had a Boston Clam Chowder and a Gulf Grouper as the main. I would usually order a salad, but I didn't this time as each entrée came with a large plate of homemade roasted vegetables and wild rice. The Boston Clam Chowder had real pieces of clams in it. However, it was just lukewarm. My grouper looked great and tasted flavorful, but it was somewhat over-cooked (and therefore not tender), which was unfortunate. My wife had a bowl of Lobster Bisque and an order of Stuffed Flounder that had crabmeat sandwiched in the fish. She absolutely loved her choices. Our daughter had a Charbroiled Walleye and liked it too. Her only disappointment was the garlic bread being hard and dry. Our daughter and I each had a Chardonnay Stags Leap which was good, while my wife had a Virgin Mojito and truly enjoyed it. Surprisingly, the highlight of the night was the slice of tiramisu that our friendly and professional server Greg brought to me! It had a lit candle for my birthday, and Greg teamed up with two other waitresses enthusiastically sang me a happy birthday song! The tiramisu was excellent, creamy and not too sweet. I am not a dessert person but really appreciated this. I have a suggestion for the restaurant: as the portions were so large and each of us brought home half of it, it would have been nice that they make the portion 40% to 50% smaller, and lower the average price of $40 per entrée accordingly. It might help attract more customers. Just my two cents. All in all, I had a lovely birthday dinner at Boston Fish Market. Ambience was good, and service was outstanding. We will certainly return again.

It seemed like the…read moreperfect option for our party of 8 being relatively centrally located and getting lots of recs. Overall, husband and I found Boston Fish Market a letdown. The price to value seemed very imbalanced and this is coming from someone who is quite accustomed to city prices. The menu is huge, IMO too big. It would be great if they trimmed it down to do fewer things flawlessly. This place is great for big groups, the room we were seated in is built for parties of 8+. We started out with the garlic bread on our table and ordered the appetizer platter. The platter was fine, but the addition of guac was odd and it wasn't very good. I ordered the lobster roll and my husband the mahi. They only serve the lobster roll hot, but I generally prefer cold. The bun was a pretzel roll, which I didn't love. They should put the butter on the side, so the whole thing felt dry. They served it with tartar sauce, which was an interesting choice. Husband was unimpressed with his mahi. Service started off strong and then fell off a cliff. Our server was attentive when we needed to order and then absent through pretty much the rest of the meal. We asked a busboy for more water and someone went to find our server to get our check. Basic things like ketchup for fries wasn't even considered. Maybe the Des Plaines location is better, this one didn't live up to the hype or price.

Sent a message on Facebook as well but wanted to post here as I didn't get a response there…read more Hello, I am writing to share a recent experience we had at your restaurant and to recognize one of your servers, Ashley. My family has dined at Bob Chinn's twice in the past two weeks, and Ashley was our server on both occasions. After our first visit, I shared our positive experience with a manager, but after our most recent visit, I felt Ashley deserved to be recognized again for the exceptional service she consistently provides. We visited your restaurant this past Friday after making the heartbreaking decision to put our beloved dog down. It was an incredibly difficult day, and we were all searching for something that might bring us a little comfort. Everyone agreed that Bob Chinn's was exactly what we needed. When we sat down and realized Ashley would be our server again, we were absolutely thrilled. She is attentive, knowledgeable, and offers excellent recommendations from the menu. She is professional while also being warm, personable, and genuinely fun, creating an atmosphere that makes every guest feel welcome. On a day when we truly needed a little kindness, Ashley's outstanding service and positive attitude made a meaningful difference. Please let her know how much we appreciated her. Employees like Ashley are a big part of what keeps us coming back to Bob Chinn's. Thank you for consistently providing such a wonderful dining experience.

We enjoyed: - sauteed soft shell crab appetizer, $32 - seafood stir fry with chow fun noodles, $24 - chargrilled halibut with red potatoes and string beans, $40 The stir fry had a surprisingly nice and deep "wok hay" Asian flavor. The sauteed soft shell crab was pretty oily and a bit disappointing for the high price. We would have preferred salt and pepper preparation, but only sauteed or tempura were offered. I knocked the dinner rating back a star due to this item, but it was still a nice solid dinner overall. The chargrilled halibut was tip-top delicious as usual. Laurie was our friendly and attentive server and a veteran of 33 years at Bob Chinn's. You can now conveniently scan a QR code and pay from you phone without server attention. Thank you once again for a very nice celebration dinner tonight.

We ordered a Caesar Salad to share. They brought the salad along with two individual bowls and serving utensils. They also offered to split it for us. Very nice. First issue was with our waitress. She was nice and pleasant. But had very little knowledge of the menu. Didn't know the sauces or add-ons for the steak. She clearly made her own answers up because when we received the food she corrected herself. My wife asked about a chicken dish and she described it very differently including getting the accompanied sides wrong. I ordered a Delmonico Ribeye and it was cooked great. Unfortunately this steak had so much connective tissue or silver skin (not fat) that I couldn't even cut it with their steak knife. It was inedible. The waitress tried convincing me it was fat and this was good. Finally a manager came over and was five-stars. Apologized and asked if he could please get me something else. Even suggested a dish. I agreed and it was good. Since it was a birthday, our waitress brought us a complimentary dessert. She was clearly annoyed with us. Didn't ask if we wanted coffee, or even an after dinner drink (my frequent diners know I love a good Cognac). This place is worthy another visit, but I can see, for the prices, how this could go either way. And that waitress needs to be properly trained (tested on her knowledge of sauces prepped and sides for all dishes).

Our kids love this. Haemul kalguksu - Seafood noodle soup. This broth was so nice. Also not spicy. It comes with shrimp, octopus and crab legs. The seafood was cooked so-so, and I think I prefer clams and mussels, but the broth was delicious and like a warm hug. They gave extra soup in a separate container too, which was very thoughtful. Bonus: the braised potato banchan is so good--our kids could eat the whole thing. Definitely worth trying whether you dine in or take it home.
