    Seafood hot pot
    L H.

Came on a Sunday around 1pm Not another soul in sight, did I make the right decision? We'll know in a few. Ordered seafood hot pot, LA Galbi and fried potstickers The fried potstickers were tasty but dripping in oil, so I would probably not order again. I prefer steamed anyway. The seafood hotpot and LA Galbi are truly delicious. Tons of different seafood, very nice! The broth is just spicy enough to be super tasty! Lots of delicious Ban Chan, always a fav! First impression was definitely different than the overall experience. Will be back

When we walked in on a Friday night for dinner, the place was quiet and casual. The food was good. Kalbi marinated meat is always a favorite. The Bimbibop in the stone pot was good. It was piping hot and had the "rice crust" at the bottom of the stone pot which I typically love, but it was so hot it was burned on the bottom and make the rice taste burnt. The staff was warm, smiley and friendly. I was a little disappointed with how long it took to prepare the food. Toward the end of the meal, I put in an order to take home. We waited for an additional hour for a one dish order to take home. So, while the food was satisfying, just be prepared to wait a while for food to be prepared and served.

Came here for an early weekday lunch and the place was pretty empty. Service was friendly without being overbearing. I got spicy pork belly and what I got reminded me a lot of (Chinese) twice-cooked pork. A big portion with plenty to go home. The restaurant is simple and feels family owned, but amusingly there were constantly somewhat old k-pop girl group music videos playing. Kind of a quirky charm.

Really delicious and flavorful food, and probably the best place for bibimbob in the chicago suburbs! They give you a big bottle of gochujang sauce, so you can add as much as you want :) My dish also came with lots of sides like kimchi, pickled radish, broccoli, beansprouts, and beansprout soup. A nice accommodation was that they let me change out the beef topping with tofu for no change in price, so I would say they are vegetarian friendly :)

New favorite Korean restaurant in the burbs. So many options, extremely fresh, and very authentic!

The soup was amazing and I'm from California but I never had Korean food this good I am shockingly amazed I'm definitely coming back for the Gamjatang and try other food as well

I think this place was pretty good, but felt that the dishes lacked a bit of flavor?? I definitely want to try the soups because other reviews recommend it! I definitely recommend getting the LA Galbi!

Ordered seolloengtang and yukgaejang and both were great!! wish it was a little spicier, but overall it was fresh and authentic tasting. One of the better restaurant quality yukgaejangs i've had. Thought the price was fair as well. This was a nice little local restaurant with friendly staff and home-y vibes. I will definitely be back. I bet they taste even better during the winter!

Good meal, typical Korean comfort food was decent. SURPRISING... and different, there was the menu item "Tteok Su" which is my favorite rice cake stew... often only served in winter seasons only, if ever. Dol Sot Bibimbap and Spicy Tofu Soup and Beef Bulgogi rounded out the takeout. They bonbon was basic, the kitchen just big bland and basic. Good place if you prefer my family style real Korean vs the trendy fusions run amok lately with the Kpop. Reminds of Pusan in Mt. Prospect also good.

We were wanting Bulgogi and found this place on Yelp. Wow! Yummy food! We sat there for a while and chatted a lot between bites of food and no one tried to chase us out but they were there in an instant if they thought we needed something. Definitely a great surprise we found on our trip to Chicago.

Really nice Korean restaurant. Came here on Monday evening for an early dinner. The waiter was super nice and the space is so clean. Food is authentic. They have a great selection of traditional Korean food. We ordered bimbimbop and tofu seafood stew. Everything tastes great. Protein portion is really small though (inflation?) Overall, great food with reasonable price. Will be back again!

Everything we ordered was delicious! I forgot to take a pic of the donkatsu but that was super yummy as well! The spicy pork belly w kimchi was a great level of spice and very flavorful. My favorite was the spicy beef and potato stew that you cook at the table. It is a ton of food and perfect to share with everyone at the table! We added rice to the pot at the end and cooked it down. Amazing!

This our bill, they charge to go containers.

Our Combo was $100 and included miso or seaweed soup, rice, banchan and four kinds of meat: marinated bulgogi, short rib, ribeye and brisket. Delicious Delicious. The banchan was tasty tasty. I especially liked the pickled cucumber and the kimchi. Some of the reviews said they were charged extra for refills on the banchan dishes. We were not. What a feast. The server loaded up our grill with brisket and would leave and come back to flip things or turn things although we were pretty capable of doing it ourselves. They very nicely cut our ribeye into bite-sized pieces with the kitchen shears and also snipped up the short rib. The meat was delicious and the banchan and rice soon filled us up. We used the green leafy lettuce to make ssambap. I also liked the sauce with the sesame oil and salt. The bulgogi was last and we had to dig deep to finish it. What I liked was that nothing stuck to the grill and nothing burned either. I've had kbbq before at other places where it was too hot and the meat was burned. Everything was cooked perfectly. There was another table where flames shot up from the grill but the staff quickly went over to help. The staff was friendly and efficient. The banchan was plentiful and tasty. We ordered the seafood pancake, B5 (Marinated beef short ribs with soy garlic sauce) B11 (Fresh cut pork belly) and E2 (Stir fried marinated spicy pork meal with rice, soup and side dishes) I love their side dishes. I've had some where they have that and it's just yuck haha). The pork and beef was very fresh. The beef short rib wasn't overly salty at all and had a good flavor to it. I would recommend getting both meat dishes. If this is your first time trying Korean bbq, I would recommend ordering what I got. You won't be disappointed. Since then, we have happily added Drop the Bop to our takeout rotation list. What is so amazing is, both our daughter and myself are not into salads or veggies, and each time we pick Drop the Bop is like a small miracle. There has never been a bowl of fast food made of fresh veggies and meats and rice that tastes so great, and make us feel so good after eating it, but Drop the Bop does it! My husband and daughter picked the All-In bowls from the Yelp experience, and I had the build-a-bowl. Since then, we have been purchasing the All-In bowls every time. All the different ingredients are so fresh and delicious, they contribute to make a complex tapestry of tastes and textures, but all work together harmoniously. We always pick the black rice that has similar texture to sushi rice, that tastes fantastically and holds everything well together. Hubby and Daughter like the carpaccio sauce the best, that is light and not overpowering, while I favor the Yum Yum sauce as it is just yummy! We all like the seaweed soup that is delicious and not too salty. Drop the Bop is a hidden gem in Lincolnshire. Phillip, the young owner, always works so hard and is very resourceful. He teamed up with Yelp to introduce the small business to us Yelpers was a great idea. If you collect AA miles, Drop the Bop also helps you add more miles each time you purchase with your designated credit card. He even comes up with buy 10 get 1 free to encourage you to keep coming back. For us, just their bowls are good enough to make us keep returning. I hope they will keep doing well and growing forever.

Since we were introduced to Drop the Bop two years ago via a Yelp Community Experience, we have been returning from time to time to get their bowls. Each bowl contains bop (rice) with your choices of veggies and meats similar to Korean bibimbap! What makes DTB stands out from other businesses is that their ingredients are consistently very fresh, the bowls are delicious with generous portions. They offer the most healthy and delicious fast food that our family love! We love their All-In bowls that contain every veggie and meat that you can think of, and we choose black rice instead of white rice as the yummy base. I usually pick the Carpaccio sauce (out of 8 different sauces) on the side, which provides a "fresh citrus taste combined with olive oil and a hint of jalapeño and black pepper" that has a nice kick to the bowl. I always pick the seaweed soup over miso soup as well. Phillip, who is the very friendly owner of DTB, seems to be always working there. I saw him every time I went to pick up our orders. Funny thing was that he gave me a punch card that offered buy 10 bowls get one for free. I have misplaced several of those cards. Phillip said that I could combine several of those cards to get a free bowl once the total slots punched add to 10. It would be OK with me that I never find all my cards to get that offer. To me, the bowls at DTB is worth every penny, and I don't mind paying full price for each one of them.

I was immediately seated in a booth with a grill right in front of the bar with two large video monitors of Korean pop music going with the boys and girls dance vids constantly going. The decorum had the feel of an upscale Asian bistro bar, nicely done. I was a bit disappointed with the meats. A couple of the pieces had gristle and fat that I simply left on the plate. The Kimchi was some of the best I have had...and the garlic chicken wings were fabulous. The key feature of their system is ordering based upon pictures on a tablet. It seems that portions pictured are typically enough for two people to share. There were several dishes I ordered that brought larger quantity than I thought was a single portion...so if you are eating alone, take into consideration that you may end up with more than you might have expected. ONE last note...the Miso Soup was excellent.

My family and I came to celebrate an early Valentine's Day and treated ourselves to a nice dinner. I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. We booked ours and were promptly seated at 6:30 PM on a Friday night with no wait. Don't you love when things run smoothly like that? We ordered multiple rounds for our family of 4 using the iPad and through the night, I'd say the foods arrived under or around five minutes. There's a 2-hour dining limit, and we used all of it. The iPad conveniently shows a countdown timer once you're seated, so you know exactly how much time you have left. It's especially helpful toward the end when you're deciding whether to squeeze in one last dessert order. I also really appreciate the transparency of their ordering system. The pricing is clearly displayed on the iPad as you select items, so you always know what you're ordering and whether something is included in the AYCE menu. On one of our other visits, I accidentally tapped an item à la carte that was outside of our AYCE menu and saw the charge immediately on the screen. I notified management right away, and they removed it promptly. This kind of system helps prevent surprise charges at the end of the meal. At the end, they print out a detailed receipt of everything you ordered -- it almost feels like a "trophy receipt." It really reinforces how much food you get for the price and how far your money stretches here. Also note that gratuity was not automatically added (for our party of 4) so we were able to write in our tip. There's a wide variety included in the AYCE menu. That said, on this particular visit they had run out of a few items -- calamari rings, hot and sour soup, house salad, and a couple others. It wasn't a huge disappointment, though I was personally looking forward to the hot and sour soup. I did notice they've added some new appetizers like fried chicken wings. They also offer familiar kid-friendly items such as fries, chicken nuggets, and fried dumplings, which is great for families. Overall, the selection is plentiful -- plenty of beef, chicken, and seafood, more than you can realistically eat. Throughout your meal, staff will offer to change the grill (which is definitely needed after a while since it gets dark and charred). They spray some kind of a protective layer on it - my guess is so the meat doesn't stick. There seem to be two types of grills they rotate between -- one for general meats and one better suited for thinner cuts. My personal favorite is the Hawaiian beef bulgogi with pineapple. I also enjoy the spicy calamari and mini sausages. The garlic shrimp was another standout -- large and very flavorful. You really get your money's worth here. This has become one of our go-to spots for family celebrations. My husband especially loves it -- and that says a lot. We've been to many Korean BBQ places, and this is the only one where he's consistently satisfied with the meat quality, marinades, and sauces. He's very particular about flavor profiles, so that's high praise. The table height is also ergonomically comfortable, which really matters when you're cooking and eating for so long. The tables themselves are large and spacious, making it easy to hold the numerous small plates that come with all the different ingredients. We enjoy the ambiance here as it's trendy and well kept. Service is attentive -- staff clear plates promptly, offer grill changes, and are easy to reach when needed. You can also request assistance directly from the iPad which makes things seamless. It was cool to see they still have claw machines in the waiting area, which is a fun bonus for families. On our way out, they also had toothpicks and candy available. Small touches like that are appreciated. This visit was interesting because they had someone walking around offering complimentary printed photos with a Tomahawk-themed template. Additional prints with a frame were available for purchase ($20). Lastly, I wrote in my review a year ago and suggested a loyalty dining program. Since then, we have dined here a few more times but I haven't heard anything yet on this visit. We would still love for them to launch something! :)

I still enjoy the big pieces of fish and mix of cucumbers, avocado, seaweed with a sprinkle of sesame seeds. There was a time it included edamame but doesn't look like it is included anymore. My kids ordered the spider roll, dragon roll and beef udon that came with a california roll. The rolls were a good size and had a good ratio of rice to other ingredients. The pieces of sashimi are good sized with appropriate amount of rice in each piece. The salmon kama is a nice appetizer. It comes out scorching hot and crispy. It can be tricky to eat because of the bones, but worth the work! I really like the design of the booths with the authentic decor resembling Japanese architecture. I don't like that the tables are consistently sticky when we eat there and if we don't get a booth, the tables are wobbly. No matter where we sit, there is always a table with a wobbly leg. The service is always super welcoming and friendly. Our waiter may have been new and still in training because we waited 24 mins from when we asked for the check until it was brought to us. And even then, I had to ask the busboy to remind our server for the check because he kept walking in and out of the room taking other tables' orders and refilling water. Upon realizing the long waiting time, the server was apologetic and still very kind which I appreciated. As we were leaving all the other staff made a point to say thank yous and good byes.
