For our main dishes, we had the beef bulgogi and the chicken fried rice, and both were outstanding--full of flavor and perfectly prepared. They also brought us a variety of unique side spices and seasonings that I had never tasted before, and they were excellent. Came here on recommendation of a friend, and sure enough we ran into them! Food is also very good, definitely sweet-leaning in profile, but flavor is deep so it's not overpowering, and the kids all really like the flavor profile. The japchae is so springy and soft, better than a lot of the grocery store japchae. My favorite is the banchan where they had the kongjaban braised black beans. I really miss that flavor profile, and only had it when I was little in Asia. Owner lady was so sweet and chatted us up about the kids and all. We will definitely be back! read more

Yum! We've been here a few times, and it's consistently good. We've dined in and gotten bbq, but we've also ordered to go and been pleased with the service and how they pack the food. What we got this time: Tteuk manduguk - Rice cake and dumpling soup. This is not spicy and has a nice deep flavor. This one has seaweed and tendrils of silky egg ribboned throughout. Our kids love this. Haemul kalguksu - Seafood noodle soup. This broth was so nice. Also not spicy. It comes with shrimp, octopus and crab legs. The seafood was cooked so-so, and I think I prefer clams and mussels, but the broth was delicious and like a warm hug. They gave extra soup in a separate container too, which was very thoughtful. Bonus: the braised potato banchan is so good--our kids could eat the whole thing. Definitely worth trying whether you dine in or take it home. read more

Ordered seafood hot pot, LA Galbi and fried potstickers The fried potstickers were tasty but dripping in oil, so I would probably not order again. I prefer steamed anyway. When we walked in on a Friday night for dinner, the place was quiet and casual. The food was good. Kalbi marinated meat is always a favorite. The Bimbibop in the stone pot was good. It was piping hot and had the "rice crust" at the bottom of the stone pot which I typically love, but it was so hot it was burned on the bottom and make the rice taste burnt. The staff was warm, smiley and friendly. I was a little disappointed with how long it took to prepare the food. Toward the end of the meal, I put in an order to take home. We waited for an additional hour for a one dish order to take home. So, while the food was satisfying, just be prepared to wait a while for food to be prepared and served. read more

Came here for an early weekday lunch and the place was pretty empty. Service was friendly without being overbearing. I got spicy pork belly and what I got reminded me a lot of (Chinese) twice-cooked pork. A big portion with plenty to go home. Really delicious and flavorful food, and probably the best place for bibimbob in the chicago suburbs! They give you a big bottle of gochujang sauce, so you can add as much as you want :) My dish also came with lots of sides like kimchi, pickled radish, broccoli, beansprouts, and beansprout soup. A nice accommodation was that they let me change out the beef topping with tofu for no change in price, so I would say they are vegetarian friendly :) read more

OMG. I have finally found a restaurant that meets my expectations as a Korean American who grew up with homemade Korean food 3x a day. I swear my mom makes the BEST fried rice and this place pretty much makes fried rice that is on the same level as my mom's. Dishes are slightly on the more expensive side but portion sizes are huge. Our family's favorite dishes are the chicken fried rice, rice cake soup, jap chae and soojaebi. When I crave my mom's food, this is the place I go. It is tucked away in a shopping plaza, and next to a restaurant that has a very similar name. Ample parking, good service, and quick. Can't wait to go back. read more

Terrible experience. Went with a group of friends and our kids for dinner and the owner came over to our table and literally yelled at my friend for not controlling her son who's only 1! I understand babies make messes but what sort of customer service is that? No warning, she came over and started yelling?! Drama ensued between us and the owner and the table next to us complained about the staffs behavior and were told to "shut up and F you"by their server! The police eventually were called (although there isn't much they could do) but the whole thing really shook me up and my 4y/o daughter was with me watching the whole thing. This is one of my favorite Korean Restaurants in the area. The owner used to have a stall at the H-Mart in Niles. She is such a sweet lady and her food is amazing. I love hearing her stories. Beware they charge to go boxes, even when you dine in at restaurants.!! Our family dine in yesterday for lunch, we have ordered 4 different lunch dishes. Food tastes ok, I have had better Korean food before. After when we done, we asked to go boxes to get some leftover beef bulgogi and soup. The bill was little higher and I looked at the receipt, they charged to go boxes. This seemed completely ABSURD to me when you din in especially. Owners should able to recoup the cost of his to go boxes from his profits, it's after all, an operating expenses. The bill was $79.71. Although the charge is minimal I think it's really absurd. The following review is based on experiences before the COVID-19 pandemic: While this restaurant is not as well known as the ones on Milwaukee Avenue, this restaurant provides a good assortment of dishes in an area of the Northwest suburbs that is dominated by Chinese and Japanese options. The dining room is fairly large with nice open ventilation and service is quick and friendly here. I've never seen the restaurant extremely busy so it is a little concerning that the menu is so large, but the food seems to be fresh here. Prices are reasonable, though not the cheapest in the area. Portion size is generous. My favorite dishes here are the Dol sot bibimbap with the great assortment of fresh vegetables, bulgogi with the nice sweetly marinated meat, and donkatsu with the crispy pork cutlet. There are many stews on the menu here which are great for cold weather, though not super spicy compared to the restaurants in Glenview and Northbrook. Overall, the food here is a little closer to family style than restaurant style cooking for me but I appreciate the options offered at this restaurant despite the slightly higher price. The pleasant atmosphere and large menu offered here make it a nice place to enjoy a family meal. read more

Excellent Korean noodle place, lots of dishes you just don't see outside of South Korea or South Korean movies. Since I watch a lot of South Korean movies I knew what all these dishes looked like, but not what they all tasted like. Authentic Korean service, so no you're not going to get that obsequious insincere emotive and dramatic American restaurant service, but you don't really want that. It doesn't go with this kind of food. Be really careful about splashing sauce or soup, some of this will really stain. By the way, it's good manners to make slurping noises with your noodle soups, that means you're enjoying it. You eat Korean noodles quietly if they're mediocre. Also be careful, Koreans, like Japanese, like their hot soups hot enough to burn. It's another reason to slurp, if you suck in air with the boiling hot noodles you can avoid burning the roof of your mouth or tongue. It's a technique that takes practice. The portion sizes are generous so you can get a lot of practice. read more

I ate at Golden Durebak for the second time on July 5 -- my first indoor dining experience since the pandemic began. The moment my friend and I entered, a masked staff member took our temperatures, which helped put me at ease. A few steps later, we encountered a table with a large pump bottle of hand sanitizer, which I gladly used. We were provided with regular, reusable menus at the table. Unlike at my first visit, there was not a specials menu, which reduced the number of non-beef items from which to choose. But, considering it's a Korean restaurant, I really can't complain! I selected the chicken bulgogi, medium spicy, which came with rice. It was delicious and generous in portion. Partly because our meals were preceded by a variety of tasty dim sum dishes, I ended up with enough leftovers for another meal. I think Golden Durebak is one of Buffalo Grove's hidden gems, and I'll be sure to return. read more

This Korean restaurant is great! The inside is very clean and staffs are very friendly. They offer variety of options on their menu and in my opinion their cooking is a bit better than other Korean restaurants that offer the same dishes. One specialty they have on their menu is the ginseng chicken. This is a must get! I always get this for myself or family in the winter days or when someone isn't feeling well. One thing to note, and this is neither good or bad, it's just for transparency, they do charge $1 if you do carry out for ask for a container for your left over.
