Pour judgment in downtown Newport is an outstanding establishment that offers a variety of great beer choices and some amazing food. The parking in front can be limited but we were lucky enough to get a spot. The portions sizes are insane here so make sure you have an appetite! I ordered a chicken sandwich with pesto and mozzarella and really enjoyed it. The turkey club is also massive and their fries are very tasty. This is more of a local bar, which I like. Fairly small inside and always packed, but they do have outside seating as well. Service was friendly and efficient throughout dinner. As my wife and I continued our Newport trip we decided to check out Pour Judgment for a quick lunch. This is a quintessential old school New England pub with the most extensive beer selection in Newport. We both decided to have the Bourbon Barrel Beer as we rarely see this in a pub . Delivered ice cold in bottles. Lunch was a grilled cheese and fries for me. Obviously nothing extravagant but it was melty and delicious cheese between buttery crispy bread. Fries were OK. A bit dry. My wife had the Turkey Club. The turkey was high quality with pesto mayo. Thoroughly enjoyed. Service was friendly and attentive. My only regret is that we only had a short time here. Next time we are in town we will spend more time here and work our way through the Extensive beer list and sample some other food. Definitely stop in if you are in Newport. read more

A down to earth casual spot for day time and night time vibes! The drink menu offered something for everyone and judging by the tables next to us, the mudslides are their thing!! My partner and I were looking for a drink and a snack with our dog. We stumbled by Pour Judgement and we were happy to see an outdoor patio. We sat down and were greeted by the waiter immediately - the service is very fast and friendly here! My partner loves IPAs so he was very happy with their beer selection. For snacks, we ordered their sushi crab roll. It was lightly fried on the outside with two dipping sauces. Not the most traditional roll, but it was light and not too heavy. But the standout was the twin lobster rolls for $32! What a steal for two rolls, fries, and coleslaw. We left happy with our snacks and drinks! There's about five tables on their outdoor patio. Ill go 4 stars overall. The soups were great, notably the ri clam chowder and tomato bisque. We got a little adventurous with the menu going butternut squash ravioli (ravioli good but the mix of things it came with didnt work) and French dip (just ok). This establishment illegally denied me service because I did not have "service dog paperwork." Under federal ADA law, restaurants are not allowed to require certification, registration, ID, or any other paperwork for a service dog. Staff may ask only two questions: whether the dog is required because of a disability and what work or task the dog has been trained to perform. They may not deny access because a handler cannot produce documents that federal law does not require. What made this even worse was the response from the general manager. He tried to tell me that things are different where I'm from in Tampa. They are not. The ADA is federal law, and it applies to restaurants and other public accommodations across the United States, including both Florida and wherever this restaurant is located. This experience was humiliating, stressful, and completely avoidable. No disabled person should be publicly embarrassed because staff and management do not understand the law. Instead of taking accountability, I was told to leave a Google review and that it would be disputed. That response was dismissive and only added to the embarrassment. I hope this business immediately educates its staff on federal ADA service dog law so this does not happen to someone else. read more

Use GOOD judgement and make your way to POUR judgement. A close friend and trusted food advisor recommended I come here while in town on vacation, and wow it exceeded my already high expectations. First, the bar itself is just cool. As someone who watches a lot of Bar Rescue, I have learned both the art and science of bars, and Pour Judgement gets it. Cool vibe, good mix of people, great service. We got the fries w/ gouda and the fried eggplant as apps to share. Both were delicious and got destroyed. We hit up this place our first night in Newport. They have a small outdoor dining area so we decided to dine outside. After about 15 minutes, we were seated. The menu has a wide selection to choose from. I started off with a Pour Judgement IPA. It was okay, but I've had better IPAs. For starters we order the fries with Gouda sauce. The sauce was great and rich, and the fries were done right. For my main course, I had the blackened fish burrito with fries. Frankly, I was expecting more flavor so it was kind of a letdown. The waitstaff were attentive. When I make it back to Newport, I would definitely give them a second chance. I would give this place 3.5 stars. read more

The chicken wings were great - lately everywhere I've tried them, they're never cook all the way through but these were great. They had a special of lemongrass chicken potstickers. I have never had anything like this - they were so fragrant and so good - the server and I bonded over how much we loved them. I found the staff to be genuinely friendly. Got the poke bowl , portion was a little smaller than I thought it would be but overall was enjoyable. There also seemed to be multiple people waiting on us the entire time like in a rotation. It made it confusing to know who to ask if we needed a refill or anything. There was a slight kick to it that made it so good. I got a chicken, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, and pesto sandwich and fries. The sandwich also had a spicy sauce on it. I had to scrape that off because while it was good, I just felt like it overpowered the rest of the sandwich. Once that came off as best as it could, my sandwich was delicious. I'm not a fry person really. I'll eat a few and be fine. I could not stop eating these. I'm not sure why either. There was nothing special about them. They were just regular fries that were lightly salted, but they were sooooo good. The service was interesting. I have no clue who our server really was. They have something for everyone...especially with their huge drink menu! Their staff will recommend the perfect beer on tap for you or steer you towards a nice local label. The walls are filled with vintage memorabilia and local art. Perfect first stop for a Newport beer crawl or a quick and casual date night dinner. We most recently ordered the bacon wrapped scallop po'boy and the tuna poke with wonton nachos. The chipotle aioli on the po'boy was the perfect level of spice and the bacon and scallops were crispy and divine! The tuna was fresh and generously portioned. A splash of rice wine vinegar or lime would have brightened the dish, but otherwise, the poke did hit the spot. read more

One of my favorite stops during my time in Newport! There are certainly tourists here, but this dive bar has a more local vibe. I posted up at the bar and enjoyed my classic panic order (vodka soda splash of cran...SUE ME) since none of the beers on tap were speaking to me. The bartending staff here is wonderful and HUSTLING at all times. If you're travelling solo, this is a great bar to post up at alone and meet new friends. I also ordered a salmon BLT and it was absolutely delicious. The fries are tasty and I had leftovers for the next day. Divey pub on the way to downtown Newport. We had been here years ago and it was good but this time was more average. Got a turkey blt on sourdough it was missing the bacon and the sourdough bread was white bread, despite one of the servers saying it wasn't, I have never seen sourdough like that. We were suckers to the $12 frozen mudslide sign outside and against my better judgment (the name of the place is fitting) I agreed to spend our dessert calories on that instead of the tiramisu at Bar'Cino. Our server was a bit cold but took our order and brought our drinks so at least there was that. I thought we could SHARE the mudslide (hot girl summer, you understand) and also SHARE another beverage so I ordered one of their numerous draught beers. Their tap is actually pretty impressive and has some surprising stuff including a dogfish head and Patagonia collab which I have previously seen at Whole Foods and thought ended there. The mudslide was somewhat disappointing. It wasn't as creamy and slutty as one you would find in Applebee's for example but more light and boozy. Don't get me wrong, I love boozy, but there is a time and a place when one orders a mudslide and it is not the time to be light. Popped into this establishment recommended by our little hotel up the street. First off our friendly hostess seated us at the last table available.. yay! The waitress took our drink orders quickly and brought them to us in a flash. Pour Judgement is a craft beer bar and grille that opened in Newport, Rhode Island in May 2006. It was founded by Hank Whitin, who also founded Bikes & Beers Across America. The bar is known for their excellent craft beer selection (on 22 rotating drafts plus bottles and cans), quality food at affordable prices, and their live music scene. Their food menu features several seafood entrées, sandwiches and burgers, salads, and various pub-style appetizers. My wife and I first visited Pour Judgment in August 2016. We were on vacation in Newport for a few days and Pour Judgment came highly recommended for craft beer aficionados. We stopped there for lunch on our last day in town. The place has that classic local 'hole-in-the-wall' look. After looking over the menu, we both ordered the same thing: Focaccia Melts with a side of fries. These excellent sandwiches featured freshly made pesto, sliced tomato, fresh mozzarella, and a balsamic drizzle. It was a really refreshing sandwich. Pour Judgement's draft selection was very impressive. I started off with "Pour Judgement IPA": their house beer that they've been making in collaboration with Grey Sail Brewing since 2013. It was a nice light IPA that went well with my sandwich. For 'dessert', I had a beer that I couldn't believe they had: the 2014 vintage of Proprietor's Bourbon County Brand Stout. This is one of the rarest variants of Goose Island Brewing's 'Bourbon County Brand Stout' series and is considered one of the top-ranked beers in the world. It is released exclusively in Chicago, so I wasn't quite sure how Pour Judgement acquired a keg. It was glorious!!! How there wasn't a line of craft beer aficionados lined up around the block waiting to try it is beyond me. I will definitely be returning to Pour Judgement on my next trip to Newport! read more
