Came here on a whim during a small weekend getaway in the area, and was so pleased with our decision. Excellent chill vibes, 90s music and friendly bartenders. Great local beers and quirky glasses. Decent bathroom.

Nice local beer selection at reasonable prices. If you're into whisky, you'll find every type here including a bunch you probably never knew about before. Chill vibe helpful bartenders. What's not to love?

Stopped in here after dinner the first Tuesday in September. Seemed like they have a good amount of regulars which is great. We sat at the bar and had a few drinks. The bartender was awesome! She even noticed me taking a picture of our drinks and showed me how to make the cider look better for the photo. Overall a great experience m!

Oysters for a $1 on Wednesdays! Ambiance of the bar was nice, bar seating and a ton of indoor seating. Pub is well lit with large windows so a lot of natural lighting. Bar was great, had a good variety on tap. Ask about their rotating sours and ciders! Service was decent but a little slow with orders, which could just be due to the fact that it was very busy!

Nice beer selection, solid menu, and a charming and fun atmosphere. Loved the dark walls and windows and the decor. The soba noodle salad was so tasty and with the side of fresh cod - fantastic. The pizza was a bit saucy but the poutine was super cheesy and the sauce was good. Overall, very nice dinner. Service was friendly and patient.

Unacceptable Discrimination - We Were Ignored Entirely I had a disturbing experience at Tavern on Broadway in Newport, RI, that I feel compelled to share. I visited with three Black women (All of us active duty Navy) we were the only Black patrons in the bar at the time. We were seated by a hostess, but from the moment we sat down, we were completely ignored. Other guests (who were not people of color) came in after us and were served promptly, while no one came to our table -- not even to take a drink order. We approached the hostess desk multiple times and were told each time that someone would be right with us. That never happened. Staff walked by us, looked at us, and continued serving others. The most disturbing part: some staff members laughed and looked directly at us after one of our follow-ups, as if they had no intention of serving us at all. It was humiliating and clearly intentional. No one should ever experience that kind of treatment, especially in 2025. I can't speak to others' experiences here, but for us, the message was loud and clear: we were not welcome. (RESPONSE To owners comment) Hi Jim, I appreciate the response but I have to be honest. What you described is not what actually happened. The restaurant was not busy during the time we were there. I have photos that show multiple open tables and very few guests. We were seated and completely ignored while other people who came in after us were immediately served. We followed up with the hostess more than once and each time we were told someone would be right with us. That never happened. Staff walked by us, looked directly at us, and continued serving others. Some even laughed after one of our follow-ups. That did not feel like a case of being understaffed. It felt intentional and targeted. We are a group of active duty Navy members who simply wanted to sit down for a meal. Instead we were treated like we did not belong. I am not posting this to argue but to be truthful about what we experienced. I hope your team reflects and takes real action so no one else is made to feel the way we were.

Buffalo garlic Parmesan wings and a burger

We came here for lunch on a weekend getaway trip to Newport. The Buffalo garlic Parmesan wings were absolutely delicious!!! The burger was mediocre and the fries came out a little hard.

Of all the restaurants I had researched before my trip to Newport, this was the one I was looking forward to the most. They had a lobster roll that was more reasonably priced compared to other restaurants. We came during dinner time on a Sunday and there was no wait! There were still several tables occupied. I started off with a Whaler's Rise APA, and my wife had the Shipyard pumpkin ale. With no hesitation, I went with the lobster roll. The sandwich was different in that it was on a hamburger bun. The sandwich was awesome, and the fries were just as good. We enjoyed our experience here so much we came back on Tuesday. The restaurant has a cool set up and wasn't too loud. If I lived in this area this would probably be a regular hangout. Highly recommend a visit!

    French onion soup

Came here with family while in town, and it was an ok experience. Server was nice but delayed most of the time we were there. Food was typical bar food but good prices. One thing that did stand out was the French onion soup, that was pretty good! The tavern looks exactly as described, a tavern. You almost feel like you should be part of a crew on a ship. The whole experience was very very casual. I think this place is more for those stopping by for a drink and a snack and not a sit down meal.

A great spot during my recent trip to Newport! I went with my Airbnb host for wine and oyster night and this spot was fantastic. Super fun location and a more local vibe than some of the other places you find in a tourist heavy town. My oysters were fantastic and the staff very accommodating. I like the "old school" kind of decor and appreciate their eclectic menu. Other members of my party enjoyed pizzas and sandwiches, all of which looked great. A spot I'd stop by again in a future trip to Newport!

By far one of me and my husbands favorite spots to dine in our local hometown! Nice warm lighting creating an inviting atmosphere, great music playing overhead, great selection of beer and cocktails, delicious food and you can't beat the service here! Highly recommend!!! Keep in mind its Newport, R.I and this place is located on Broadway so parking is scarce. We parked a half mile or so away and walked, totally worth it!

We just had another fabulous dinner at Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant--our second time dining here…read moresince last fall, and it was just as wonderful as we remembered. We arrived a little early for our 4:00 p.m. reservation, and the place was already packed. While we waited by the bar, a very nice waitress took our drink order--a lemon drop martini, beautifully crafted, well-balanced, and pleasantly strong. We were seated shortly after and, of course, ordered another. (Both times, I took several sips before remembering to take a photo!) Our waitress, Mikela, was truly lovely--sincere, sweet, and very courteous. She was attentive throughout the meal without ever being intrusive, which made the experience feel relaxed and effortless. At the end, I told her I wished I could give her 6 stars, but Yelp only allows 5. For dinner, we both ordered the seared rare ahi tuna steak. I had mine with garlic bread, while my husband chose mashed potatoes. I also added the $9.95 salad buffet, which is such a great deal--you definitely won't leave hungry. I especially love their buffet-style salad bar, which offers nearly every option one could want. Both of our ahi tuna steaks were fantastic--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Once again, I dug into my tuna before remembering to take a photo! We finished the meal with a cheesecake to share--another delicious ending to a wonderful dinner. We're already planning our next visit--there are still so many dishes and drinks we'd love to try.

It is a legitimate original tavern - not a theme park restaurant made to look era appropriate. Very impressive. It's all dark wood and fireplaces - the ambiance is real. It does get a bit noisy from other diners, but that's expected in a place that uses and preserves the original materials and doesn't have rugs or decorations to muffle sounds. The place is a bit cramped, but that is expected as well. Original dwellings were not spacious. The steps at the door were awkward and upon leaving it was sort of surprising - you have to be careful upon exit. If you're nimble and aware then it won't be an issue, but if you're unsteady for whatever reason it could be bad. The food was dynamite. I had the beef Wellington - it was very delicious. She was nice enough to let me try them and I chose the Trevino which was very good and paired great with my food. The bread was nothing special but solid and the high quality olive oil made up for it. For my main I got the chicken milanese and it was divine. I loved the vinaigrette on top perfectly acidic and vinegary. It cut though the oil and heaviness of the breading which was perfectly salted by the way. The arugula bean salad was sooo good and created such a well balanced meal. The one thing I will say is I believe their fryer does fish and chicken bc my chicken had a slight ocean taste but since I like fish I was not bothered but non fish people beware!

One of the best meals I've had in recent memory. We sat at the bar where you can see the cooks work…read moretheir magic which set the tone wonderfully. We started off with drinks --gin dirty martini and a classic old fashion, both were perfectly made and crisp. Food: Appetizer-warm bread with butter was a nice starter. However I wish we got the escargot with bone marrow as we watched it being made it looked and smelled delicious. Entrees- we split a 27 oz ribeye and the scallops. The steak was a beautiful cut of meat, well marbled, cooked to perfection and seared so nicely. It was sooo tasty and seared with Malden salt. We are pretty snobby when it comes to steak and this was probably the best steak I've ever had out at a restaurant. The scallops similarly were cooked and seared perfectly and seasoned correctly. Laid on a bed of watercress and potato fondant it was the perfect delicate bite and contrasted nicely with the steak. We got the side of brussel sprouts with peanut Rayu which was a beautiful flavor bomb. I can't say enough about the food. Every single thing we ordered was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I find that to be a rarity in today's restaurant scene. I could not recommend this place more. We really enjoyed it and this will be used as a comparison to every restaurant I go to going forward. 6/5 stars! Come here
