I had only been to Duck Donuts once before, and boy was it memorable! These donuts are absolute perfect. They taste and have the consistency of the inside of a perfect funnel cake, and they are made fresh to order. So every order of donuts is fresh and hot. Of course, great quality and fresh donuts take a little time - so you might have to wait a little for your donuts since they're coming right out of the oven. I did a little research before I went into the store. I read online that I needed to try the French toast donuts, and the Boardwalk. I also got a glazed doughnut , a doughnut with chocolate and sprinkles, and a doughnut topped with fruity pebbles. All of them were super delicious. As expected, the favorites were the French toast and the Boardwalk. The service here is superb. Everyone is so nice, and super helpful. The cashier was very patient with me as I took forever to make my choices. But luckily there was no one else waiting behind me when I was there. Parking is plentiful. This place is a must - try! But, I was gravely disappointed at the heavy chemical taste of preservatives and artificial flavorings. Unfortunately, and I really hate to admit this, but these were the absolute worst cookie I've had in a really long time. I ended up tossing them in the trash. I knew I wouldn't be able to eat them. They weren't even warm. Some people love them, but I'm not in that group either.

The new owners immediately made facility changes that vastly improved the look and feel of the shop. Not only new flooring, but the display cases, reach-in coolers, furnishings and other customer comforts. They "tidied up" the place and fixed stuff - exactly what was needed. They also expanded the existing menu without taking a blow torch to it. From my interactions with the staff, it was pretty obvious the owners were wanting to learn more about downtown Daytona, their legacy customers, and the changing market. Changes they made were mostly tweaks, all seeming to be received positively. Since the new year, it's obvious Serra Doce is leveraging all they've learned and have made major changes and improvements. They seem all in. There is now a brunch and à la cart breakfast and amazing sandwiches, pastries and fresh fruit offerings. Truly, Serra Doce has retained the best of why I've always enjoyed my coffees at this location, and expanded my choices with really amazing food offerings. The service is great. It's tough to keep staff these days, and like any regular place I go to, I do see new faces. But old ones too. All of my interactions have always been wonderful. It's why I come back. I tried a bunch of different flavors and my favorite one was the ultra violet. Ben and Jerry's ice cream is so rich and mouth watering with every bite I am filled with happiness. I enjoyed the vegan crepes they had here and the matcha, the meatloaf was flavorful but very crumbly when trying to cut it to take a bite. The service was very slow considering it was not packed like the one other time I came here last year.. the servers did not check up on us except only to order. I felt like I had to beg for the server to come check on the table. The server was very condescending when speaking to us. I've been to many family owned restaurants and I believe they need to strategize better with customer service based on the experience I had. Also, be aware it's 0.50 cents for ice in your drink.. which is absurd.
