I have been a long time customer of coffee shops at this location and after 1+ years under new ownership, it has only improved on all fronts - the shop, the service and the food. The new owners immediately made facility changes that vastly improved the look and feel of the shop. Not only new flooring, but the display cases, reach-in coolers, furnishings and other customer comforts. They "tidied up" the place and fixed stuff - exactly what was needed. They also expanded the existing menu without taking a blow torch to it. From my interactions with the staff, it was pretty obvious the owners were wanting to learn more about downtown Daytona, their legacy customers, and the changing market. Changes they made were mostly tweaks, all seeming to be received positively. Since the new year, it's obvious Serra Doce is leveraging all they've learned and have made major changes and improvements. They seem all in. There is now a brunch and à la cart breakfast and amazing sandwiches, pastries and fresh fruit offerings. Truly, Serra Doce has retained the best of why I've always enjoyed my coffees at this location, and expanded my choices with really amazing food offerings. The service is great. It's tough to keep staff these days, and like any regular place I go to, I do see new faces. But old ones too. All of my interactions have always been wonderful. It's why I come back. And it's still an affordable spot and, MOST IMPORTANTLY dog friendly and welcoming. read more

Found this place on Yelp and stopped in for some coffee on our way out of Daytona. I went for the Irish latte and the coconut pie. They have some sandwiches and baked goods. The coffee was decent. Found a little gem in the heart of Daytona Beach, Rick, and I stopped in and Rick had coffee and an egg cheese and sausage sandwich on Portuguese bread. I had a blueberry muffin with a green tea. Can't believe all the times I passed by Sweet Marlays' Coffee on my way to McK's Tavern or the cigar shop and never once noticed it. What a really cool place to hang out, grab a coffee and a sweet treat. I had a regular coffee on this visit with a ham Quiche and a creamy rhubarb tart. All was great. When I first came in, Nodah greeted me, and it was all downhill from there. Got to add this place to my list of favorites. The name and owners have changed several times (I think in Google search it still has another name, But, their name is on the signage. Stopped by on a Friday morning and this shop is on a Main Street near the water with east to grab parking in front of the block. I had a nice first visit to this new one month old restaurant "Serra Doce" opened in the place of "Sweet Marley" that closed. It is a little confusing as both names are still on this restaurant, which is a second restaurant of one that is in New Jersey. The food is 10 star and I was excited to see the many Portuguese fancy desserts. The servers were nice enough but so social with each other they did not hear a customer asking for assistance at one end of the counter. I then ordered a ham & cheese quiche, a latte and a walnut cake. Everything was tasty, the cafe had a nice ambiance. I ordered a pumpkin syrup (sugar-free) and got a heckuva lot of "pumpkin spice" powder or seeds thrown all over the ice that was unappetizing. The coffee itself had good flavor. One bathroom out of order, must get a key to enter. Like back entry but also had a man with a backpack sitting back there without ordering that was a little uncomfortable. The gals need to come out from behind the counter and make sure their little piece of the world is safe. I would return here again and hope to up it to 5 stars with continued good taste, better service, clarity of the name of the cafe and feelings of safety inside. read more

We decided to stop by this one, and I'm so happy we did. The atmosphere is very welcoming and chill. The coffee is so good, and the flavor combinations are not only unique, but married together perfectly. Their baked goods are excellent too!!! A very cute little coffeeshop in downtown (mainland) Daytona. If you think "laid-back hippie coffeeshop" well, that's pretty much how it is here. A nice place to study which attracts plenty of local students and probably also some business-people from nearby offices. Their desserts seem a big hit with the regulars but the chocolate cake I had was far too sweet: if you like it that way, I guess it's fine but when ordering a triple-chocolate torte or whatever they called it I was expecting something more like a dark, semi-sweet confection.
