Had so much fun at Hollywood Candy during my recent visit to Omaha! So many things to see, try, and…read morebuy while you're here. The busiest parts of the shop are the candy and soda fountain section. Lots of nostalgic treats to purchase, as well as decorations and other displays. Lots of other shops within the shop (similar to an antique mall) with records and other pop culture items for sale. My favorite part of the shop were the pinball machine rooms. Antique and modern pinball machines were packed into two rooms and each play was super affordable! It is worth mentioning that some of the antique ones were there as display only, but cool to see nonetheless. I spent most of my time here playing a few games and could have definitely spent more time here if I had the opportunity during my short time in downtown. So glad I got to check out this local gem and would recommend it to anyone in looking to grab a sweet treat or play some games!

Every time we thought we had seen the whole store, another doorway appeared leading into yet another room packed floor-to-ceiling with candy, retro treats, bizarre novelties, and things I haven't seen since childhood dentist appointments. The layout is less "store" and more "sugar-powered labyrinth." I'm fairly certain there are at least three rooms we never found, and there may be an entire hidden civilization living somewhere behind the gummy bears. You could visit five times and still accidentally discover a new hallway full of international candy bars and rubber chickens. Then there's the pinball arcade, because apparently simply selling every candy on Earth wasn't enough. Nothing says "responsible adulthood" like eating sour belts while aggressively losing at pinball. Unfortunately, we arrived close to closing, which meant we had to speed-run what felt like the world's quirkiest candy maze. We left knowing with absolute certainty that we missed half the place -- possibly an entire wing. Next time we're bringing breadcrumbs, a map, and maybe a sherpa.

It's about a 30 minute drive from Omaha and we had no problem finding it. My first impression was that it was way bigger than I expected and totally worth the trip!! I regularly buy Baker's chocolates at the grocery store but there was so much more selection and the prices were cheaper. For example, the bag of Patriotic Mix was $12.95 while it's usually $16.99 at Hy-Vee for the same thing. Besides the chocolates they are known for, they also had a large selection of saltwater taffy, fudge, and a ton of other candies, some I haven't seen since childhood. In addition to candy, they also sold a lot of locally made food stuffs like Rotella's bread, Mi Mama tortillas, Valentino's, Dorothy lynch, salsas, dips, jams, jerky, spaghetti sauce, you name it. They even had t-shirts, hats, and a refrigerated section for various meats. It was really cute inside and a lot of places for photo opportunities. There was a bench inside and a covered patio outside with a big parking lot. The staff were quick, efficient, and friendly. Glad I finally got to visit this place and I will be back again when my sweet tooth feels the need. :)
