Honey and I took a date day over to Lake Charles to visit Crying Eagle Brewery. It's at the bottom of the bridge and take the first exit. Easy to get to and perfect locale. It's a super awesome setup with ample parking and great walk up. We had premade reservations via Open Table. They aren't required but we did just in case they were busy. Our server was Megan, who made great recommendations and was super helpful. (Ask for her!) Anywho... We ordered Parmesan crusted fries to start with me having the Barrel and Bough for a starter drink, and Honey had a Lake front Lager. He described it as being light and delicious. The Barrel and Bough was chefs kiss... a welcome spin on my favorite Old Fashioned. He ordered the I-10 Smash Burger with a truffle Fries, and I went for the chicken and sausage gumbo, with a side of brown butter mashed potatoes. The meal was excellent. Honey wasn't super impressed with the smash burger, but it was great presentation with good flavor. I, however, devoured my gumbo. It was the perfect blend with spice but a hint of sweet. Reminded me of my mother's gumbo and that's hard to beat!!!! We finished the meal with a cup of coffee. We got cans of Fruit Stand blend to go, and we loved it. We will for sure be back for more trips to enjoy their delish faire of foods. It is seafood heavy but there are options for vegans and burgers available as well. Overall... chefs kiss and a salute to the chef!

Awesome ultra pet friendly spot with delicious beers and solid food. Tried the pretzels twists with beer cheese & nuggies and highly recommend both!!

I'm not crying, you're crying. On a trip to Lake Charles, we stopped by Crying Eagle Brewing for some brews in the afternoon. And we were lucky to find out that we were there during their happy hour where they have discounts on beers and beertails (beer + cocktail mix). They have a large parking lot so parking won't be an issue. And it's a spacious brewery too with two floors. After checking out the menu, I started with one of their beertails. It's not often that I have a cocktail that has some beer so couldn't say no to that. It delivered. From there, to get a good variety, I did a flight. Always my go-to at breweries so you can try a good number of their beers. Followed by a full-size beer after that to complete the trifecta. While they had food, that looked good, we stuck to drinks. Plus, free WiFi. I would return. My only complaint? They charge for samples . . . it's a brewery. Come on!

Fiesta melt. My fiancé really enjoyed it. It looked juicy

I love that this place is dog friendly and they allow dogs both for indoor and outdoor seating. Staff are all very friendly. Plenty of seating. Very fun and chill vibes. Self seating. You order at the front counter and they will bring out your food. Also very good food. My fiancé and I had the jalapeño cheese curds to start and for entrees I had the hot chicken sandwich and my fiancé had the fiesta melt. The chicken sandwich was good but beware, it definitely has a kick to it. My fiancé really enjoyed his fiesta melt. Overall we really enjoyed our time here on a beautiful Saturday afternoon with our fur babies and we will be back.

Come for the food and nice location and friendly staff. However the craft beer is just not great. This is an honest assessment from someone who enjoys craft beer. The beer is not a drain pour, but not a beer destination by any means. Possibly the best brewery in Lake Charles but there isn't much competition . The pretzel bites, salads and pizza were definitely worth enjoying. I would try a sandwich next time.

This is a surprisingly great brewery in Lake Charles. They have excellent selection of lights, darks and IPAs. Location and parking is great and the vibes are great. Highly recommend bringing a group just to even chill and have a few drinks. The do have a restaurant there too but didn't try any of the food.

Whitney was our guide and she was knowledgeable about the area and its people. She also told us a few funny jokes. Five locations were visited. 1. Ton's Drive In-Broussard. We sampled chicken and sausage gumbo with a small scoop of potato salad. Delicious. 2. Prejean's in Broussard. We sampled dirty grits and scallops. The sauce was a little on the salty side, but the dish was quite flavorful. 3. NuNu's in Youngsville. We sampled, link boudin, boudin balls, chicken patties, chicken crackling, and smoked sausage. Everything was delicious. We were gifted a 3 oz container of NuNu's Cajun seasoning. 4. Fezzo's Seafood, Steakhouse & Oyster Bar in Broussard. We sampled fried alligator with sauce and a char grilled oyster. Delicious. 5. Poupart Bakery, Inc in Lafayette. We sampled King Cake with pecan and cream cheese filling with a cup of Community Coffee. Yum. The perfect end to a tour of delicious foods enjoyed by locals everyday. This is an educational food tour that locals would absolutely benefit from. Whitney covered some history of Louisiana I'd certainly forgotten. This tour filled the 3 hours with delicious food, some humor lots of education and I highly recommend it for visitors and residents of Louisiana. Our group included guests from Louisiana, England and Ireland. We all enjoyed ourselves.

However, come to find out, the Bisque was actually a 10" Corn N Crab Bisque Pizza. It was the grossest pizza I've ever eaten. It was so off putting to me, I only took a couple of bites and threw it in the trash. The Cheesy Bread was the thinnest Cheesy Bread I've ever had served to me ever from any restaurant anywhere, much less a pizza place. I recommend a new recipe be followed moving forward which requires the use of thick crust instead of the thinnest crust. My boyfriend's pizza was delicious, but was too light on sauce. We both regretted not ordering some dipping sauce that we could have used to try to compensate, but neither of us usually want dipping sauce. I have ordered a custom 10" pizza from there many times and been blown away by how delicious it is and the quality of ingredients used so I know there is potential here if the right thing is ordered, but now I see some room for improvement in the area of the Cheesy Bread and the online ordering. As you can see in the attached image, there is not a photo or a description included with the Bisque menu item and since it seems different than the pizzas listed above, I thought it was not in fact a pizza, especially since I was tired and hungry while placing the order. lol
