It's very cold, but somehow very enjoyable
    Jessica O.

I've been overtraining a bit and my body felt like I got hit by a truck, so I decided to give Cryotherapy a try to see if it would improve my muscle soreness. It was really easy to make an appointment online and I called ahead of time with some questions (number one being do you have to get naked but more on that later). I arrived for my appointment and filled out my registration forms on their tablet and then paid. (Bonus points because they have a special price for first time clients). I was led back to the treatment room. You get undressed and put on socks, slippers, thin gloves, and mittens, hop in the chamber, and ring the bell for the staff member to come back in. They raise up the platform so your head is at the top and start her up. Once the machine is turned on, you need to be constantly moving. The staff member in the room helps pass the time by talking to you. It's pretty cold but bearable. Before you know it, the three minutes is up, you hop out, get dressed and go on your merry way. I know you're waiting to find out if it works, right? I will say immediately after most of my soreness was gone and it did not come back. Also, I was in a pretty good mood which is rare because I am generally grumpy and mean. So, I will def be back for more cryotherapy especially after leg day when I have the worst soreness known to mankind.

I did the infrared sauna a few times and works really good! Easy to use, no setup, they heat it up for you.

This gym gets 3 stars as a "hardcore bodybuilding gym". It's kind of like going into a 90's time…read morewarp, in a good way. Pros Old school bodybuilding equipment and plenty of it. The stuff is spaced out well enough that you're not bumping into things or tripping over anyone. Some gyms try and cram too much equipment into limited space. The equipment is arranged by body part as it should be in a serious BB gym. I like that it has 2 separate complete dumbbell areas with full racks of dumbbells. I like that there is a separate room just for squatting. "If you're not squatting, don't come in here" that's something you'll only find at a bodybuilding gym. This gym has the AMT precor machines for cardio. For me, It's the best cardio machine to burn calories- most gyms have the eliptical machines that just spin like a hamster wheel. Parking is easy and the location is close to main roads. They are open later than most gyms if you have to train late. I never find it crowded, but I go later after peak hours. I don't know what it's like right at 5:30 on a weeknight. The WiFi works and is reliable They have a sauna that works. It's good but on the small side. Sometimes the door gets left partly open though and it may not be hot enough if you didn't check the door a while beforehand. Pretty much all the members are training, there isn't a lot of sitting around on equipment staring at phones, or people standing around in your way talking the whole time. Cons It's really windy in a lot of areas with the huge industrial warehouse style fans going full blast mounted right overhead. I don't like wind blowin' on me when I'm training hard and my clothes are wet. These are fans designed for a large high ceilinged space, but the blades are spinning only 4-5 feet over your head. I feel like being in wet clothes and standing in a stiff wind is a good way to get sick. The wind gives me a headache. It's not good. They should at least turn them down to lower speed. I would actually add a star if they would run the fans at a reasonable speed. The locker rooms are nothing special, just adequate. If you're a germaphobe you may not be happy. But fancy locker rooms are not what this gym is all about. The dumbbells are never in order, usually all mixed up. I don't like wasting time hunting around for a matching pair of DBs when I'm ready to do my set. The members do seem to reasonably good about putting weights away though. There's no water fountain to refill your water bottle. If you drink all your water you will have to buy more. If you came up training during the "high intensity era" of the bodybuilding 80's and 90's, you'll probably like this gym a lot. If you want more of a commercial health club/chain type gym with a lot of classes and amenities, or you want a gym with a lot of "fitness chicks" in tiny carefully selected outfits checking themselves out in the mirrors all the time, there are plenty of other choices right nearby that will be a better fit for you. For what I do and am looking for in a gym, it's 3 stars for me.

I want to share my experience with Enrique as both a masseuse and as the business owner of Face to Face NYC: Enrique gave me the "Ultimate Massage". When I came into the office at the lobby Enrique quickly acknowledged and greeted me. He went to make sure the room as perfect and then came back outside to take me into the room. The room was perfectly lit and air conditioned. He politely gave me time alone to get ready for the table and came back several minutes later to start the massage. The Ultimate Massage: I have never done a deep tissue massage before and so I was not sure what to expect. Enrique delivered in the perfect amount of pressure to apply onto my hard knots both on my back and my shoulders. He started off on my shoulders and upper back and I had such difficult knots on my shoulders it was so painful feeling him loosen them up gradually. But that "pain" was pain of relief and comfort. Enrique did a wonderful job on my neck, shoulders, and back. He then proceeded to the rest of my body: legs, feet, arms, and hands. I had no idea that I had secret hard knots all over my forearm and legs. Enrique used his professionalism and history of his craft by doing techniques that helped to ease up painful knots that has never been touched before; especially in a deep tissue massage. Overall: I felt very relieved and satisfied at the end of my Ultimate Massage that I had asked Enrique if he had time for 30-45 minutes more for a deep tissue massage specifically for my back and shoulders. Unfortunately, he had a next client coming in. I will definitely be coming back to Enrique at Face to Face NYC for a thorough, professional, well done massage as well as try their other offerings. Thank you, Enrique @ Face to Face NYC!
