11/19/22 Music from the blue speaker playing loud enough so everyone can here it. ... are we in New York?
    John F.

11/19/22 It is amazing what one can forget when you don't ride the metro on a daily basis let alone yearly. I now seldom ride the metro, but this past Saturday was an adventure. Not only had I forgotten about the hobos and panhandlers, but I had forgotten about the stink of piss and body odor in the the subway. On my adventures around the subways, I got the chance to experience every single one of these things. Panhandlers asking each rider who isn't appearing to be sleeping if they have spare change. It hot me thinking how many people actually carry cash on them nowadays. 1 out of 4 panhandlers I encounter asked me for money. I told him the last panhandler asked me that and got nothing. The hobo moved on to the next mark. Yes, this sounds callous and maybe so. I help when I can, but at the time I did not have cash on me and am not going to give him my credit card(s). Several of the subway cars just looked dirty and you could see the buttmarks of past travelers on some seats. This is the least of the issues. What bothered me more is the smell of a whole subway car smelling like WTF. Moreover, the amount of people still sitting subway car dealing with the nauseating stink of urine and rotting fish....(at least this is what my delicate nasal passages smelled)....is something I did not stick around for. Before the train started to move from the station, I switched train cars for healthy air. I experienced another train car that smelled like weed. Weed when smoked smells like a skunk. I do not like this smell, so I switched train cars again for better fresh air. The older train cars were dirty in some areas, but so were the brand new train cars. One 7000 train car seats looked like someone sat on the seat without pants on leaving an ass shape pattern. All in all, I seldom ride the metro, but I had fun riding the subway in areas I normally don't go. I can say I have never ridden the greenline from start to finish. I might have to try this one day. The redline and silver (before the newer stations) are the only ones I have ridden start to finish. I look forward to checking out more of silverline next Saturday.

Crystal City Shopping Center has a Metro station in the area. It also has access to the hotel. The best thing about it is the location. A few notable government sites are around. You can find a few places to eat and shop. It serves the Blue and Yellow Lines. It has a few important attractions around the station. This is between the airport and the Pentagon, so there's lots of tourists and government workers. It's also attached to a shopping center. There's not that much interesting there. It's mostly chains. There is a cool underground area around here. It also has a few connections. It has a bus stop close to the entrance. This also connects with the VRE.

This is one of the better Metro stations. It serves the blue and yellow lines and is between the Pentagon City station and Reagan National station. If the weather is nasty outside, it's nice to be inside and not be exposed to the elements. As you come out of the station, you're right at the Crystal City Shops. There are a lot of food options all within walking distance from this station.

Amazing the number of people buying Metro tickets here. You would think that having 8 machines would be enough, but the second day I was here, there was a busload of tourist kids (wearing matching tshirts) that somehow can figure out how to run an iPhone but can't work out how to buy a Metro ticket. Two escalators - one from street level and one to the platform - and you're on the train. When I was here, the street elevator was broken. I think it's hilarious how many billboards that Northrop Grumman operates here, selling their unmanned aircraft and unmanned robots to... tourists?

We stay at the Marriot's and we use this metro station daily to commute to various places every day. We like shops, cafes, and restrooms on the first floor down. Then the train boarding on the 2nd floor down. 1 stop and there we are st the Reagan National Airport. 3 stops and that's Old Town Alexandria.

The station is clean and features new ceiling panels. So white and clean! It's a good stop to transfer from yellow to blue.

The train was on time and very clean. Everyone just focused on themselves and I no one bothered me at all, actually being new to the train system, I had a few people ask me if I needed help.

A typical Metro station. Most of the Crystal City Underground is closed, so this station no longer has that advantage.
