My husband and I discovered The Beach Haus Resort while searching for a cozy hotel near the lake in Traverse City. Everything exceeded our expectations! The resort is located directly on the East Grand Traverse Bay.. Our room was clean, cozy, and quiet. We also had a private balcony with a great view of the beach. And the sand on the beach was as soft as cotton. The staff was friendly and eager to help with anything we needed. My only regret is that our stay wasn't longer. I hope to return again. The place is older and that could explain some of the issues. The room smelled musty. The air conditioning unit was clogged. The sliding glass door didn't work. They did send a text and I addressed the issues. They said they would take care of them but I denied it as I knew we were leaving the next day. The reason we were leaving was a medical issue. I understand cancellation policies but I was disappointed in how they handled the situation. We booked through Expedia who had trouble getting a hold of management. We had a great Sunday-Tuesday stay. The weather wasn't very beachy, but we enjoyed reading our books on the beach bundled up in a sweatshirt and towels. The room was clean and tidy. There were a few bugs, but it's northern Michigan. The little breakfast being brought to the room was a nice touch. Parking was easy and the Mexican restaurant across the street was great for dinner. We had leftovers that fit in the rooms mini fridge. We actually went Parasailing right next door. The price and location were too good to pass up. The coffee was good, but don't expect Starbucks. A great place for families that want something simple, easy and nothing fancy. We will return. Oh, and the staff was fantastic! read more

I really enjoyed my stay here. Honestly it would be 5 stars for me if they just did a few updates (which I know is easier said than done). I found it a little odd that the stairs and hallways are carpeted, especially because guests are tracking in a lot of dirt from going in and out of the beach area. It made the stairs look very dated and dirty. The bathrooms could also used some updating and some better shower heads. Other than that, i found the beds to be very comfortable, lots of tv options for the kids during down time, nice balcony area, AC was easy to adjust and kept us very cool, LOVED the nightly fresh baked cookies at 8pm, the coffee and tea area was nice even though options are a bit limited, the continental breakfast delivered to our room was also a very nice touch which we appreciated, a good variety of options for everyone, the beach area was always kept clean and quiet, and the staff is absolutely wonderful and kind. Such a great place. Super friendly, helpful staff and owner. I LOVED my room. Huge, welcoming king sized bed with an open floor plan suite. Nice big spa tub in the room with a separate bathroom with a nice tub and working shower. Lovely furniture. Comfy and well appointed. Wonderful lake view. Great, clean beach. The owner went out of his way to tell me all the best leaf viewing roads that were currently bursting with color. Thanks so much for telling me about Route 615! BEAUTIFUL!! SO incredibly disappointed. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. It's gross. My boyfriend booked a 3 night stay for my birthday. While cooking dinner, I went for the smoke detector because the fan over the oven is worthless (& expels right back into the room) & cooking a steak on the stove will most definitely set it off. Well, it came off in my hand. Watch out for the pans too- the handle came off while carrying a pan full of bacon grease to the other counter. Let's not mention being in wine country with everything a guest has ever left there... but of course no wine opener. The screen door on the door wall is split for 2/3 the length of the door, there's no screen on the window, & dead bugs lined the windowsill. Don't forget to bring your own toilet paper, & paper towel, as they are not stocked & housekeeping never came. Probably explains the disgusting amount of mold above the shower... I'm not a big woman by any means, but when I tripped backwards onto a chair, it broke. It put a damper on the whole weekend, to the point of booking another hotel (Grand Traverse - it's cheaper!!) & not doing anything at all. Do NOT make the same mistake. read more

The Beach Haus is very nice and clean and the staff are all very helpful. The best part about the resort is the beach. We step out on to our patio and we are 50 steps to the lovely beach. The beds are very comfortable and the location is great. If you're in to water sports, parasailing and jet ski rentals are right next door. We love sitting on the beach and watching all the water sports. Do note that the rooms are a little dated but still comfortable and clean. Also the beach needed to be raked, but it was still lovely. We have stayed here several times. This is our go to resort. read more

Not worth the money! Gave a 2 for updates and beach is lovely. BUT...the bed was soft and old. The TV did not work. As we were gathering our things to check out, we discovered a large ant colony in the corner of the room, right next to where I slept for 2 nights. ICK!! Told the front desk and they apologized...no other compensation for a 2-night $1300 stay! Won't be back! read more

LOVED this place! Very reasonable price for the GREAT location! The continental breakfast (continental breakfast for those of you who may be confused is bread products, pastries, cereal, juice and coffee) was good, they also offered hot tea and hot cocoa. The staff was FANTASTIC! Tammy, Denise and Mary Ellen were wonderful and very helpful! They had great suggestions on where to go and what to see! Super friendly staff! The view from our balcony was AMAZING! I appreciate that this establishment tries to conserve energy by keeping the refrigerators unplugged when no one is using the rooms. This is a great way to keep costs down so that people can get a better deal on the room and still enjoy a fantastic view without breaking the bank. They have grills that you can use, they even have grill utensils, plates and silver ware that you can use. There is a nice little area that you can enjoy your meal outside. Plenty of tables with umbrellas, lounge chairs and even chairs to sit on the beach. We will definitely be returning here for future trips to Traverse City! The Beach Haus is not worth it for the price. Sure, it may be cheaper than the surrounding resorts and hotels, but it is not up to par with any other place in the area. Here are some of the things they need to work on: - Their parking lot was being redone and instead of informing us ahead of time when we booked the room, we found out when we were there. We had to move our car after we arrived at the hotel. - When I asked the front desk for a cart, they had a shopping cart from Ace Hardware. Shady much? - The room had an actual key, not a key card. That should have been my first sign to run. - The refrigerator was old and was not plugged in when we came in. - The floor in the bathroom had a weird design where it looked like it was wet and it was kind of slippery. - The room was a good size and the beds were comfortable, but the mural in the background was not so nice. - Continental breakfast was not good. They had juice, plain bagels, pastries, miniature cups of yogurt, french toast and cereals which were not identifiable. Considering how cheap cereal is, you would think that they would be able to afford good cereal. - They had regular plates instead of styrofoam plates. Maybe that's environmentally friendly, but I'm pretty sure it's because they were too cheap to buy plates for their guests. I am also not sure if they expected us to wash the plates, but if I'm on vacation, I am not washing dishes. Plus points: - The owner was nice. - The back outside area was beautiful. They had a lawn with lawn chairs and tables with umbrellas where you could eat. They also had a gazebo that you could sit in to enjoy the views of the beach. It was a gorgeous view. - They let you borrow volleyballs and floaties. However, the only negative thing I will say about the beach is I am not sure how often they actually clean the sand. All in all, this place was $40 less than the Sugar Beach Resort I have stayed at previously and considering how much nicer Sugar Beach was, definitely worth paying $40 more to stay there. Also be warned that the pictures on their website are misleading and are of their penthouse, not a regular room. read more

Let it be known, there is not a new item to be found in this hotel, but the hotel is well maintained, clean, with a great location. The amenities within each hotel room are limited. There is an iron/small ironing board, mini fridge, basic box TV. Each room has a balcony with a nice view of the water. The breezeway of the hotel has a microwave, stove, oven, ice maker, and coffee and tea are available all day long. There is a beautifully landscaped lawn equipped with lawn chairs, a gazebo, and lots of beach chairs, and lake toys for the beach. There are 3 gas grills available for use, all you need to do is ask the front desk for dishes, spatulas, etc. They have everything you need! There is a wonderful store across the street called the Bayside Market that sells all sorts of seafood and meat perfect for the grill. In the morning, there is a very nice continental breakfast available in the breezeway. The morning I was there, the meal consisted of hard boiled eggs, sausage gravy and biscuits, corned beef hash, toast, pastries, yogurt, juice, coffee, and tea. You can tell the man who makes the breakfast enjoys his job and really wants you to enjoy your stay. The majority of the staff was very courteous and friendly. The location of the hotel is excellent, a few miles outside of town right on the main drag. There are tons of things to do very close to the hotel, or you can spend the entire day enjoying the sun and the sand right at the Beach Haus! read more

We have stayed in Traverse City a few times and this last trip we spent three nights at the this resort/hotel and we were extremely happy. It is well kept up from the bathrooms to the beach that is combed daily. They offer a breakfast that is a step further than most that offer fruit, yogurt and breads. They offer hard cooked eggs, biscuits and gravy and corned beef hash (one of my favorites) along with coffee and juices. The beach is great and the view is outstanding. Each room has it's own porch or balcony that leads to a well manicured lawn and then steps down to a wonderful sandy beach right on the East Arm of Traverse Bay. I like the fact that it is not in the downtown area yet just minutes from it if you want to be. read more

It's a cute different type of hotel stay for us. No shampoos or conditioner in room but luckily we brought some with us. Love the balcony. Great location with amazing beach view. We were greeted by a big old spider, heat did not work initially. Bathroom was sketchy so we did not use. Lots of "no signs" everywhere. Refunded a second night and if course refunded less than stated. If you read the other reviews they are mostly correct this place is really quaint it does need some remodeling. The view from the patio was beautiful everyone is very very friendly and Tony that was behind a desk when we checked in was very helpful. all the amenities I didn't see anyone mention was that they serve you breakfast to your door each morning. This place isn't the most updated hotel, but the views and the staff absolutely make up for it. We stayed a night here recently and really enjoyed our time. The staff even bake cookies at night. I didn't catch the name of the front desk representative, but she was super helpful and friendly. The wifi was free and worked surprisingly well! The only downsides are the fact that it is rather outdated. The bathroom is a little small and it's not the nicest looking, but it was all clean and functional. Beyond that, the refrigerator wasn't working very well and the hotel is located on a pretty busy street. The hotel is right across the street from a pretty great liquor store that sell food and meat as well. It sounded like the hotel provided grills between certain times if guests wanted to grill out as well. read more

The beach is beautiful, they did a great job of spacing out seating, but there were too many issues for me for the pricing. The beach definitely needs to be raked/cleaned - cigarettes in the sand, other garbage, etc. The rooms are okay - definitely not cleaned properly. I took Lysol wipes to everything (because of Covid) and they all came up black. Spider webs everywhere in the room. The front desk male staff was nice during check in but staff we interacted with after that (himself included) were not pleasant at all. Overall unfortunately the space was not worth it - the price is way too high for what you get. I would suggest planning ahead and getting an airbnb if you can. read more

I took my wife here for her birthday weekend. The hotel is very, very nice. We stayed in one of their suites and it was absolutely amazing. The staff was extremely friendly and fast. The rooms were very nice and spacious without wasting space. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was nice and hot and didn't get cold at all. The location is perfect as well. While not quite downtown, you're so close to everything. They have wonderful seating on the beach both on and off the sand so you can enjoy it without having to get sand in your shoes. The views are gorgeous and the sunsets are unbelievable! Plus free wifi that doesn't expire on you. I highly recommend Beach Haus and I will be going back. read more

If you are a senior citizen, or a parent of a young child, or anyone who enjoys waking up at 6am on vacation, this resort is perfect for you! For the rest of us, the thin walls were a huge downfall! The bf and I stayed there 3 nights as part of our 'recession vacation' i.e. no flying. I checked into a staff of middle aged women who faked smiles - hardly the 'award winning' service they brag about, but I'll chalk it up to them not being used to seeing people under 40 there? Anyways, we checked into our room - which was immaculate- to find cozy accommodations, a nice sized bathroom, and basic amenities (no iron or coffee maker - say what you will, but a motorcycle trip and no iron isn't the best combo). The view, however was the best part of the whole place, hands down. The glass patio doors slid open to reveal a large lawn with beach chairs, grills, lakeside patio tables, and you have a private patio on the edge of all this. If you walk about 40 feet there are a few stairs which lead you to a private beach on Traverse Bay. Once you step outside you won't care that the TV is from 1995, and has a VCR player. They do offer a free breakfast in the morning with coffee, juice, and pastries. It's a close drive into town, tons of restaurants, beaches, state parks, and the Turtle Creek Casino. My best recommendation for you if you're staying at the Beach Haus is to request a 1st floor room, at the end of the hall, away from the lobby, laundry room, and the epicenter of noise before 7am. You'll thank me when you get a good night's sleep - although they could use a mattress upgrade! read more

We paid over $300 a night during the height of fall color as we made a last minute trip north. We selected them based on nicely staged web photos and its availability. Beach haus is more of a $75 a night motel at most. Next year we will explore other options. read more

DO NOT STAY AT THIS RESORT. It is old , outdated ,and just disgusting. Although the staff is very friendly that does not make up for the the fact that the bathroom is tiny and there are bugs everywhere . I understand the resort is on the water so there will be bugs. But spiders too ? Come on. Vacuum and clean your rooms because they are old and smell weird. This place is OVER PRICED and my entire family is extremely disappointed. i spent my honeymoon at the beach haus and had a very enjoyable time a perfectly nice hotel in traverse. it looks like a cheap chateau. its a little old, its a little tacky, but its nice. the rooms on the second floor have really big balconies that look onto traverse bay. the grounds, while decorated by your grandmother, are very nice. there is a little gazebo, plenty of chairs for sun and a nice stretch of beach. very close to all of downtown traverse city, with a price that is better than most other hotels in the area. i would for sure stay again. love, juston read more

When you stay here you feel like you are in Frankenmuth. The view it what you are truly paying for. The room rate was reasonable. It's within reach of everything. The staff is uber nice and friendly. Our room had a full kitchen. It could use an update, but it's fine. It fits the atmosphere. I was surprised how nice the breakfast was. We come here all the time and have stayed at many of the resorts. I would definetely stay here again! read more

Okay think of it like back in the Brady Bunch days. Carpet, walls, tub, and doors need a serious makeover. 2. The beach chairs/ lounge chairs are made of old metal and some are broken. Some of the other resorts have modern plastic chairs. 3. Very slow with cleaning our room. 4. No safe box in room 5. when I turned on the air conditioner, the whole room smelled old. 6. Waste of space outside ?bbq area . If I had this resort I would turn that into a outdoor tiki bar/ lounge area with lights, and nice cushion lounge seating area with nice music playing ;) Miami style !!!! 7. I do not know what that area is at the top of the resort. Maybe a resturant once upon a time. Another waste of space??? But I would turn that into a nice open restaurant. Especially over looking the water. $$$$ More money would come into this resort Probably like most of the hotels, resorts, rentals etc. up north here in Michigan they need to be updated. Great view but that's it, rooms are mediocre at best, 20 year old air conditioner that was so noisy you couldn't sleep. Way overpriced for what you get. We tried to get out of our second night but they wouldn't let us. The staff was quite friendly though. Hard to believe they didn't have a cork screw available at the desk. We won't be coming back. My wife and I stayed last week and were disappointed from the moment we walked in. The resort is clean for sure but everything about the place is 20 years old. If you look on the photos of the website you'd expect the rooms to be newly renovated. NOT SO!!!! My wife and I have tender backs and we ended up sleeping on a 20 year old lumpy mattress. The rental price is not cheap either. The buffet is the smallest I've experienced in our travels throughout the county. So vacationers be aware!!! read more

Good Afternoon, I just want to share my experience for all of social media so no one can make the same mistake booking with this resort again! A few weeks ago I chose to book this hotel through bookings.com. My total should have been $309 plus tax (as shown on bookings.com and The Beach Haus website for any Thursday and Friday night booking) Once I booked it seemed that the website reverted back to just one booking day.. I immediately went online and changed the booking to add the second day. However the price went up to $430.. which is nothing close to what is shown on booking.com or their website for 2 days a Thursday and Friday night. When I called to see why I would be charged $100 extra they gave me the run around and to call Bookings.com, I called bookings.com and they said its up to my resort to refund me and it makes sense they would push it on them so they don't have to deal with it. They charged me the wrong price for my second day and are refusing to work with me and give my refund. Please please be careful booking with this resort.. their customer service is trash and they obviously DO NOT care for their customers if they are trying to OVERCHARGE them! read more

My wife and I stayed here for a few days in August. All I can remember about the place is that during one of our precious few days they took the opportunity to POWER WASH the lower floor patios of the entire place. This took ALL day. Now if I wanted to hear noise all day I couldn've stayed home. JEEZ! Did they ever think about doing this during their off (closed) season!! They say, "an oldie but a goodie," right? As I drove into town, I grew apprehensive of my choice to stay at The Beach Haus. The surrounding hotels have much more curb appeal than here. The hotel is by no means beautiful, but it is clean and pleasant, with a beautiful view. My room was quite large, with a two person jacuzzi next to the bed. The beach is wonderful, with many tables and gazeboes to relax at. I would happily return to The Beach Haus. read more

We have stayed at the Beach Haus a couple of times, and intend to visit again. Though it's decor is not cutting edge, or "Up North chic", it is clean and comfortable. There were cookouts and events included for free, as well as a decent breakfast. Though not cutting edge, they still have the internet and the other amenities. What makes the Beach Haus outstanding is its beach and million dollar view of the east arm of Grand Traverse Bay, as well as patios or balconies to enjoy it. Additionally, it is close to town, close to the airport, and a good jumping off point for your up north adventures. read more
