The first time I was ever able to get a gel French manicure I was very impressed by the quality and attention to detail. The pedicure basins are lined with plastic and all of the tools come out of a sealed plastic covering too. Looks are deceiving. Located in a strip mall in St Pete with lots of other nice shops and stores. When you walk in, it looks nice and they are friendly and greet you. The shop looks like you will have a "better than average" experience- it was anything but. I did the upgrade pedi with scrub and aromatherapy etc. Was barely in the chair for 30 minutes start to finish. It was rushed, the techs talk nonstop to each other, and my toes looked terrible. Wont go back. There are other places that do far better for same or less the price. read more

I went to the salon as a walk-in. My nail tech was Van. She was very nice and did exactly what I requested. After a week, my nails are still shiny. I use gel polish and she had two UV lights so it made my time at the salon much faster. Also, the pedicure chairs are newer, and the Massage function was very nice. Prices were affordable. My one complaint would be there was not a large selection of the newer colors. read more

Like any place else there are those who exceed above the rest and those who do not. I had a great experience over the weekend with Linh. She was out standing with both manicure using the dipping powder as well as pedicure. Very thorough. I have not found many places that have people who can do the dipping powder well...Crystal nail does. They do it better than anyone in the area as well as offer a large assortment of colors. The decor and environment are beautiful - new decor with calming music and very clean. They even have Home improvement shows playing on the TV to keep you entertained. read more

I'm 9 months pregnant and can't reach to do my own toes anymore. Wanted to feel pretty when I look down and see my feet especially because they don't fit into shoes anymore. Now I'm stuck having toes look like this until I'll be able to do them myself. Why would you cut the whole side of a toenail off all the way. They're crooked and uneven and I got upset because it's not what I wanted and the lady didn't even apologize or offer a refund. Never had my toes look so horrible in my life and being 9 months pregnant you don't feel the best. I went in asking for a removal on my dipped nails. The nail tech got rude and irritated that I didn't want a full service. She cut my nails down to numbs without asking for the length and drilled my dipped polish off to the point that I had to keep telling her to stop because of the burning sensation. I am an annual visitor of St. Petersburg visiting my family. This morning is was raining so us four girls talked about getting a pedicure. I checked out yelp for some reviews of local places around and there wasn't too many that jumped out at me except this one. The previous reviewer, Lisa R., was dead on. This salon was amazing, with very reasonable prices for what you get. I called ahead before we went to make sure all four of us could get pedi's at the same time and sure enough the man on the phone said he had four girls there, ready to go. We walked in to a very new and clean spa, and they were expecting us. They had 12 pedi chairs so there was plenty of room for us. The chairs were great, full body massages. They offer you anything to drink, even red or white wine, which of course we had...and it was good. The service was very nice and accommodating. The two girls that did the best on the pedi's were Tran and Ana. Because of this great experience, we have now declared our girls pedi treatment a must every time we visit. read more

My cousin and I bond over pedis and manis so whenever I visit we go get one together. This place was clean with nice pedicure massage chairs. They were busy and there were not enough stylists so we had to wait. Several people had to wait, I'd say it took about a half an hour before I got started. But the pedicure was great, wonderful massage and I can't complain about the manicure. This place was also cheaper than northern va prices so that's awesome :) I'd go here for a bonding experience anytime! One of the worst pedicures I have ever had. I have no clue what the tech's name was because she didnt have a name tag on. She had a slight attitude to start off with when I asked if my friend and I could sit next to each other. I chose the deluxe pedicure with gel polish. It started off fine until she started to cut my cuticles. She was I guess trying to beat some time record or something because she was doing it so quickly and hat no surprise she cut me and pretty badly too because it was bleeding. She put some liquid stuff on it and kept going. She seemed like she actually got annoyed when I said it hurt. So she cuts down my nails and starts filing. She goes ahead and proceeds to file on top the cut. I asked her to stop doing it twice and just not file that toe at all on the side were the cut was because it was painful. Again, to myself and my friend, she seemed annoyed. She finishes up the filing process and begins to paint my toes. She painted over the cut with the gel polish then after painting trys to file the polish off of the cut. I again asked her to leave that nail alone. It was a horrible experience and not worth the $52 at all! I am adding photos of the pedicure and the cut. So very disappointed. She was more worried about what the nail tech next to her was doing then on not injuring her client. After experiencing a truly horrible manicure at a different salon I decided to try Crystal, mainly because I read a lot of positive reviews about them. I called in the morning to make an appointment for a powder dip manicure 1:30 pm on a Wednesday. As this is a new place for me I wasn't able to request a particular individual so I indicated that I wanted someone who was experienced with dip and that my schedule had some flexibility so I wouldn't have to wait long. The individual I spoke with had little English so I repeated myself several times. When I arrived I found there was no technician available. Again, after repeating that I want a powder dip several times they gave me the gel samples for selecting my color. Twenty-three minutes (and several customers in front of me) later they put me at a station. From that point on everything went well. Mary removed my existing polish. Lily prepped my nails and applied the new color like a professional. My hands look great. My final take: Communication is not their highest priority. If you want a specialized service repeat yourself but don't expect it to be understood. Expect to wait. Walking in will result in the same timing unless you have an appointment with a particular technician. Expect to PAY! I paid more for this manicure than I usually pay for a mani-pedi. I DO Recommend--I've tried way too many nail places for powder dip from tampa, largo, and to st. pete. This place has complementary beverages and can always take a walk-in. My nails always last at the LEAST two weeks, which most of the time at other places, they maybe make it the two week mark. Its relaxing and I also love the pedicures here. I went in yesterday afternoon and I wanted a manicure and pedicure and needed to remove gel nails. They didn't mention they would be charging to remove the nails until after they had already done the process. The girls at the salon basically did not acknowledge me or say anything to me the entire time I was there. I basically felt like I was an outsider and did not feel comfortable at all- not the way you want to feel when you are spending money to get pampered. I have two broken nails that the technician didn't even acknowledge and wasn't going to file them until I actually said something. So, after I sat here feeling like I was in the third reich, my nails were finally finished. I paid them (even though it was a painful experience), and it was WAY overpriced, especially for the quality. I get home, and try to forget about the whole experience, at least happy I have painted nails. But lo and behold, an hour after I leave I have three YES THREE cracks in my nails. Seriously? All of their tools are sterilized and come out in the bags. They have an abundance of girls working, so you shouldn't have to wait too long. For a gel soak off and a regular mani, I paid $20. This is about $5 more than I'm use to spending, but the ease, comfort and cleanliness make it justifiable. read more

I don't know if she woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but she was very rude and kept telling me to "relax" during the manicure. No matter how I positioned my hands, she kept changing it and made me feel uncomfortable. I finally told her I didn't know what she wanted me to do so she could do her job. We were visiting St. Petes beach, but it was raining that day so I was very excited to go to get a little relaxation when I read about crystal nail spa. They offier you a drink and get you right in. The guy at the fron desk was very good about giving you information on the packages they have available, but I felt that maybe he was a bit pushy. My friend and I both got pedis and mani to include the lavander and rum scrubs. We also decided to upgrade to the "shellac" on our nails since they said it would last longer. Everything was going good until it started to get a little busy in there. When more people started to walk through the door it was almost like those that were already in there were pushed back. My friend had three different people working on her in the time we were there and I was left under those hot a** heaters on my nails. I don't think it was the girls fault, but that "guy" I spoke of earlier was pushing them to get done so they could work on others. Both of our nail polish began to chip before the weeks end and by week two it was all gone. So much for the shellac that is suppose to last 8-9 weeks! We spent a lot of money in there that day and I felt that we were pushed out. read more

My wife has been going here for years. Now alleged new owners charge all different prices. They seem to make it up as they go along. The service is poor in that they speak Vietnamese and ACT like they understand and then do whatever they want. The staff here is tremendously unfriendly and rude. I'd visited this salon a few times and had loved the results, but after my experience today and revising the reviews, I'd have to agree with those who gave it one star. When I sat down to receive a service that I was asked to pay up-front for, the nail technician made incredibly insensitive and invasive comments. Not only was her demeanor and attitude absolutely disgusting, she also manhandled my hands for the entire duration of my time there. Instead of asking me politely to move my hands, this woman would pull and tug on me to move the way she wanted. I suspect that her coldness was due to the fact that I refused to upgrade to a gel option. This was also the worst paint job I'd ever seen! My nails were filed way too hard, the polish ended up very streaky, and my cuticles somehow ended up looking worse than when I came in (: All in all, I would say that my nails looked like they had been done by a four year old, and she definitely had the attention span of one too. Instead of focusing on the task at hand, this woman insisted on constantly talking to others, disappearing, and staring off into space. What could have taken us 20 minutes ended up taking forever. Part of me wanted to tip her but when she was finished with my nails, she shut the lights off and walked away. When I got up to leave, she even tried to engage me in a stare-down at the door. At first I was flustered by how horrible my time at this salon was made, but now I'm just embarrassed for her and her co-workers who openly supported her actions. I think that there is a bias from those who gave this place more than 2 stars. If you happen to find yourself at the particular salon, you will notice that the way you're treated depends on class/race.
